I’d love to hear form You about Yale Masters. It's totally worthy to subscribe you because you give info as well as moral support. ❤ Love from India 🇮🇳 I'm fully loaded to get into Yale next year. 🤟
Hi Vic! The moment you talked ,i could instantly recognise your Singaporean accent. What are your opinions on money. Was money a problem for you to get in Yale? How big of a factor is money for you to study overseas?
Im from Mexico and I rlly want to study at Yale , I’m in 8th grade so I have plenty of time for it, but I did my research of what does Yale wants in their students, I watch a lot of TH-cam videos like this one and I’m supper committed to do all the activities I can so they consider me for an scholarship and obviously to accept me to the school, okey so, I know I need to have a GPA of 4.0 minimum, I’m going to try to take the SAT and ACT exam bc in Mexico we don’t have that, in which I need to get more than 1500 on the SAT I think, and like a 35 on the ACT, also I need to be in like 10 AP classes and get a 3-5 in the exam, and a lot of extracurriculars ( I want to study laws, specifically criminal law ) ( in college I’m planning to have a majority of pre-law and criminal justice but I’m still not 100% sure ) I know I need to have research’s related to that and try to publish them, try to go to internships also related to that, be in debate ( I’m currently in UN model ) be president or vicepresident on something, develop an original project and try to win an local or regional award, community service, (I speak English and Spanish and currently learning French but I think I need to have more languages so )also learn Italian, etc, all that I’m high school hahaha, in Mexico, well where I live there’s only 3 years ( 10, 11, and 12 grade ) of High school so it would be hard to do all that but I’m going to try my best, oh and I also going to be on the IB program all the high school, and I’m going to try to do something on 9th grade maybe just community service bc there’s not a lot of options here but..., do you think I have a chance to get into Yale, and with a scholarship...???
SO AM LIVING THE LIFE OF MY DREAMS JUST AFTER HIGH SCHOOL AND AM STARTING LOCAL UNIVERSITY NEXT MONTH BUT I FEEL LIKE USA WOULD BE BETTER, NOT BECAUSE AM REALLY ATTACHED TO IT, OR HAVE BEEN MY DREAMS BUT ONLY BECAUSE IT IS A DREAM OF MY FAMILY, JUST TO HAVE THAT ONE KID IN USA. SHOULD I APPLY AND MOVE? Yale has never been my dream, but I just think I loved your video :)
Hi! I am from Ecuador, and I really really want to get in Yale, so my question is how do you start the process admission? Love your videos! You are amazing!
@@ouioui2319 You can get a scholarship from Yale or you have to look for a organization in your home country wich would also offer you a scholarship for studying abroad.
I’m from Germany and I really wanna go to Yale as soon as I have my Abitur/A-Levels. I’m currently in 9th grade on a Gesamtschule but I’ll apply to a Gymnsium after my Realschulabschluss/GSCE. If I’ll remember this comment, I’m gonna reply in a few years for an update.
Hi thank you so much! I am very interested in going to Yale and am working on my application this very moment! It's a long shot but hey, we miss 100% of opportunities we don't take. It's very scary and I'm scared about how I'll feel if I don't get in. I know what school you go to doesn't account for your self worth but I would still be really bummed. :(
Just do your best and let things happen as they are meant too. Sometimes when things don’t go the way we want, new paths open to us that we wouldn’t have expected :) sending love x
Where did you find the environmental conference? Did you find them online? Did you school make it a must for everyone to have a published science research? Or did you find it online or something? Was working with environment organisations what your school introduced you to?Lol for us average singaporean joe the only thing I have a clear idea of what to do is only do well in school. Otherwise I don’t know where to find anything to do. Furthermore, I intend to study economy, which quite frankly,I don’t know how to show passion on unlike other subjects like history in which show passion on(haha does this even make sense). Btw thank you for sharing your experience it has tremendously helped me!
I'm from.pakistan and currently in my grade 10 It'd be a moment of brimful pride if I somehow be able to get into an Ivy league college. It'll truly be a dream come true.
Dear, don't worry so much about getting into Yale. Keep working hard in school and pushing yourself in your extracurriculars, but do that for YOURSELF, instead of the ultimate goal of getting into Yale. Getting into Yale is a great goal to have, but always remember that even if you don’t get into Yale, you’re still a valuable and amazing person, and no one can take that away from you. Always remember that your happiness should not be determined by the school you get into. I’m sure you’ll give your best effort for Yale, but if you don’t get in, you can still find great success, I promise you☺️✨
@@dyandranathanararya832 Yeah I took none, I think I took SAT bio, chem and math or two of them, it honestly doesn't matter which you do though, just meet the requirement and you'll be fine!
In Germany we don’t have the opportunity to do many (or at all) activities for the extracurriculars. Schools don’t offer anything and you also can’t win prices. My big passion is writing and I don’t have anything I can prove it with.😫
Can you make a video explaining how to apply for financial aid in Yale ? I really don’t have any clue where do I submit the papers in the common app . Awesome videos

Hi there! I have a question, so I go to a public highschool (that's not well known) but do i have to go to an international private highschool to go to yale?
can i ask when do they usually start accepting applications for undergraduates? i'm from the philippines and i am not that familiarized with other countries' school years or application dates
i really want to attend yale university, but while i do have (what i like to think) unique interests and passions, i can't back them up with extracurriculars because my school doesn't offer them! what do you think i should do?
I was in the same situation. You got to create your own opportunities! 1) Start a club regarding your interest in your school. Shows leadership & initiative 2) Join / volunteer with an organization that does what you like outside your school 3) If you can't do the above two, then just work really hard and dedicate a lot of time to your interest outside school & work up to a level you can produce achievable results. E.g. if you like learning languages get certifications for them, or if you like doing yoga then if possible do yoga teacher training / learn some hard poses etc All this should be an organic process tho! Don't just do things to get into Yale. You should genuinely want and enjoy doing these things and do them regardless if they would help you in your application or not :)
hi victoria! how does going to a small school (my batch has 23 students lol) factor into applications? + my academics aren’t excellent (almost 50% of my grades are Bs, the rest are As) but i think i might be able to compensate for them with my extracurriculars. still really worried about my grades though :(
I’m not sure if it factors in much (from what I know they analyse by region as I said); that said, if you mention your circumstances (eg less resources if there are) in the extra information that might help you. Grades unfortunately are really important, so try to work on those! You don’t need perfect grades but a good record is also important.
Hi vic!! I’m a singaporean too AAHAHHA!! I’ve already applied RD and I’ve yet to receive an interview though. I’m quite worried it’s because my predicted A level grades were less than stellar. Do you know how long RD interviews will last? Thanks!!
You’re really young, so just focus on doing well in school and exploring what you love for now ☺️ you might find that your calling takes you elsewhere (not yale)! When you’re ready, you can check out this document here (The Ultimate Q&A Resource: Yale International Student Admissions FAQ). I created it to help any students like you who have questions!
IB is basically a type of curriculum! Some schools have it and others don’t. You don’t have to worry about it, just go through school as per normal and do as well as you can 👍
Hi Victoria, I’m from singapore too! I’m really fortunate enough to stumble upon your video as my interest lies in environmental studies as well! Are you willing to share the name of the organisations you have volunteered with? I’m really interested in environmental studies but after some researching, I’m still not sure which organisation I’m able to volunteer with that will really translate into tangible contributions to the community :( I would really appreciate your help! Thank you
Also how did you manage to sign up for those cool conferences? I’m heading to JC next year and I can’t help but feel really inferior compared to everyone else on TH-cam who has completed their own research, fundraising etc. :(
Hello Ginsuang! So happy to hear that you're interested in Env Studies, it's more popular now than when I was first getting into it a couple of years ago. I personally volunteered with PM.Haze, Zero Waste SG and Animal Allies. However, I would say that there are MANY more env organizations than that in many diff areas (zero waste, sustainable living, activism etc), especially now, so I encourage you to figure out which ones are really right for you! What areas are you interested in specifically? Also, when I was volunteering with the former two groups I mentioned, I was mainly working on outreach, which I wasn't so interested in. Animal Allies allowed me to work on projects, which I found fun. So be aware that even if a group sounds cool, the amount of autonomy given to their volunteers may differs w each org.
Hi Victoria thanks for replying :) I am more interested in the plants side of things but honestly animals are something I’m interested in too (even though I’m scared of dogs and cats)! So I’ll try contacting NEA & the zoo & see if I’m able to help with guided tours/lab things they are doing. Will that help in my application? Also, may I know what kind of project you’ve done with animal allies? I’ve just looked them up and it looks really interesting! What were the other extracurriculars that you indicated in your application? :0 also when did you approach your Teachers to write the letter of recommendations? When would you suggest I do so? Sorry for having so many questions but I’ve never encountered a singaporean who have managed to attend an Ivy League and this is definitely a dream for me!
No worries at all! I would say that you’re on the right track - NEA does have a lot of volunteer stuff you could do. there are also a lot of nature organizations that do guided tours and such (nature society, toddy cats), as well as community in bloom gardens you could volunteer at if you’re interested in gardening? I’m not an expert in this area but there are many people who are so def go for events, make connections/friends and get people to give you recommendations! I would highly suggest that for ECs you do what you genuinely enjoy and try to go above and beyond (ie take up leadership positions, or start clubs etc). For letters of recommendation, it doesn’t matter when you ask, as long as your Teachers can get it in before the deadline (so maybe inform them a month or so before? I honestly forgot when I asked mine). About conferences - I just found them and signed up haha! And it was really just ONE conference. I totally understand when you say you feel inferior - I went to an international school so a lot of the opportunities that we advertised to local JCs I never heard of from my school. i realize now - it’s about making the most of what you have and creating (not just finding) opportunities! There a lot of cool things out there if you just look for it. You can do it! And finally - if you’re just going into JC, relax! Figure out what you really love to do and dedicate yourself to that. Take the time to experiment and see what community/org works for you, you have time on your side! I only decided to apply to Yale in JC 2, you have so much more time than I did to prepare. You’ll be fine :)
Hello There ... First of all the video was very informative ... I wanted to know that will my application be at disadvantage if I don't give SAT or SAT ?
Don't actually remember - maybe like about their experience, and something specific (doesn't matter if they can answer, it was just to show I did my research haha)
Victoria Lim oh my gosh thank you for replying !! I am applying RD to Yale (nervous since I didn’t apply early), but just wondering do you ever look over supplements ? I really would love to go to Yale! (This is a bit random, but I loved your common app essay because it was so raw and touching !! You are actually such an inspiration)
Hey Maddie - no worries, I Guess that’s the perk of having a small channel! I’m so sorry but I don’t look over supplements because 1. I’m absolutely swamped with work and midterms but also 2. If I did it for one person everyone would ask >< just be sure to ask yourself if you’re showcasing (not telling) every part of yourself in your application! Also there are many videos and threads online about supplements and they are all very helpful. Ask your friends and acquaintances (strangers even, so that they don’t know you) to read your supplements and ask them what they pick up from your essay. You’ll be fine! All the best x
Victoria Lim thank you so much for the advice ! No worries... I totally understand. good luck with midterms :) Also one last question (sorry!) Yale asks for us to submit a video, picture , mp3 along with one of the questions. Did you have to do this when you applied ?
Hi Victoria!! I am an Indian student studying in 12th grade and really looking forward to apply in yale and my grades were not that great in 12th and i am going to give SAT by this october so please give some tips it would be really greatful ☺️
I got 44, but on my application I put down my predicted score which was 45! However it really doesn't matter, I think get 40-42 and above and that's good enough!
Hi Victoria!! I am an international applicant from Peru and I will be applying to Yale rd this year. I have good grades in hs but my extracurriculars are not that impressive. What do you think I can do to increase my chances of getting in?
Find / create extra curricular opportunities (important) and write good essays! Whatever grading system your school has is fine as Long as you’re done well. Buena suerte
Hi! I am from Ireland and I still have three and half years left in school, my first year and second year I did quite poorly in school. Mostly B's and C's and even a couple of D's. From now on I have been getting mostly A's and maybe a B here and there. Will my first and second year affect their decision (I was 13 and 14 at the time)
How else could I stand out from my pool when my interests and passions are not very different from others in my area especially when my test scores are not the best?
I think it's okay if your interests are common / similar to others, what it comes down to is really showcasing that you are actually INVESTING & ACTIVELY CHASING them! Also essays are very important. Check out the other video on my channel about my application essays to see how I did it for my application!
Hi Victoria! This is your first video that i am watching. And i really really found it helpful. So thank u so much for that! I do have questions tho. U talked abt the IB cirriculum. But i am studying under the Cambridge curriculum, where we have A's and B's. So in grades 9 and 10 i did have some B's in some class tests. However, i do have a trend of improvement in my results. And finally got a gpa of 4 on 4 for my board exams. So will those B's affect my chance of getting into Yale significantly? Also. I plan on majoring in biochemistry. But i do not have extracirriculars based on those. Cuz i was already studying that in school. But i had 2 more fields of interest 1. Writing. 2. Motivational speaking I have extracirriculars in both of those. Esp, for the 2nd one. Since i had my own experiences in the past, i opened an international platform that ptomotes positive living and mental health. But this is absolutely not related to my major. So will this be a problem? Given i dont have extracirriculars related to science. Except for being the editor in my science club. Ps. Sorry for this long piece of writing.
Your extracurriculars do not need to be related to your intended major! Also, I answer your question on grades in this doc here: docs.google.com/document/d/1OZC5f2uhlCoVdLyx2rdfPbnYkqayINdSE2jIO849BbE/edit All the best!

I'm west african and this helped alot!! Thank you!!
i’m applying next year !! wish me luck❤️🙏🏻

Unfortunately there's none that I know of :/ maybe you could start one?
i really want to attend yale university, but while i do have (what i like to think) unique interests and passions, i can't back them up with extracurriculars because my school doesn't offer them! what do you think i should do?
I was in the same situation. You got to create your own opportunities!
1) Start a club regarding your interest in your school. Shows leadership & initiative
2) Join / volunteer with an organization that does what you like outside your school
3) If you can't do the above two, then just work really hard and dedicate a lot of time to your interest outside school & work up to a level you can produce achievable results. E.g. if you like learning languages get certifications for them, or if you like doing yoga then if possible do yoga teacher training / learn some hard poses etc
All this should be an organic process tho! Don't just do things to get into Yale. You should genuinely want and enjoy doing these things and do them regardless if they would help you in your application or not :)
Victoria Lim thank you so much for replying! this helps a lot, now i know what to do 😂
hi victoria! how does going to a small school (my batch has 23 students lol) factor into applications? + my academics aren’t excellent (almost 50% of my grades are Bs, the rest are As) but i think i might be able to compensate for them with my extracurriculars. still really worried about my grades though :(
I’m not sure if it factors in much (from what I know they analyse by region as I said); that said, if you mention your circumstances (eg less resources if there are) in the extra information that might help you. Grades unfortunately are really important, so try to work on those! You don’t need perfect grades but a good record is also important.

What questions did you ask your interviewer about Yale ? Thanks so much !! Love all of the advice :)
And just thank you for taking the time to make these helpful videos and then actually replying ! (Lol no one ever replies, so I am so thankful!)
I totally understand. good luck with midterms :)

Thank you!!!
Hi! I am from Ireland and I still have three and half years left in school, my first year and second year I did quite poorly in school. Mostly B's and C's and even a couple of D's. From now on I have been getting mostly A's and maybe a B here and there. Will my first and second year affect their decision (I was 13 and 14 at the time)
They only look at high school grades so if that was in middle school you should be fine
Hi! I was just curious if I have to pay to Yale as an international student if my family’s income is lower than 20000USD?
Hi Victoria! This is your first video that i am watching. And i really really found it helpful. So thank u so much for that!
I do have questions tho.
U talked abt the IB cirriculum. But i am studying under the Cambridge curriculum, where we have A's and B's. So in grades 9 and 10 i did
have some B's in some class tests.
But i had 2 more fields of interest
1. Writing.
2. Motivational speaking
I have extracirriculars in both of those.
