There are violinists, there are virtuosos, there are artists, and then there are magicians like the great David Oistrakh who leave us speechless and in deep admiration and gratitude for his gift to us all. Thank you Mr. Oistrakh!
What a beautiful performance. The mastery continues through his son Igor, showing how well he must've taught him. Thank you for recovering and posting this wonderful recording. Both men were gifted by God, and these recordings speak it so loudly.
OISTRAKH ADMITTED THAT HE DIDN'T HAVE THE EXACTING TECHNIQUE THAT MICHAEL RABIN HAD FOR PLAYING THE PYROTECHNICAL PASSAGES. HOWEVER, WHAT HE DID HAVE WAS MUSICIANSHIP THAT WAS PRACTICALLY UNRIVALED. I NOTICED HE ADDED HIS OWN CODA ON THIS PIECE. HE WAS A PHENOMENAL VIOLINIST & FAR BETTER THAN ANY OF TODAY'S.
So sweet, his Tchaikovsky violin concerto makes me cry every time I listen to it, it's like there's a stream of emotion flows out of his violin, fantastic performance.

THERE IS NO ONE NO ONE NO ONE CAN MATCH HIS ART. WE DO NOT HEAR VIOLIN. WE CAN ONLY HEAR SINGING, THE HEART, AND THE INTELLEGENCE OF HUMAN RACE. VIVA PAGANNINI AND VIVA DAVID!
Magistral interpretación del Legendario y Prestigioso Violinista David Oistrakh ; ejecutando de manera Magistral la Obra Maestra del Virtuoso VIolinista y Compositor NICOLO PAGANINI .
Fabrice Jean Pierre yes , u r somewhat right. Heifetz was undoubtably a true genius. He wasnt the best. I think that there hasnt been the one violinist in the golden age of violinists that is better. Heifetz is amazin at bazzini but vengerovs performance is equally as good. King David is a true genius as well. If u study music, i would like u to watch a performance of the thaickovsky concerto opus 35. See king davids and then heifetz. U see, there is no good violinist for every piece. Kogan is the best for pagannini, king david is the best for thaickovsky and mendellsohn. Heifetz is really good at mainly technical pieces but he plays bach really bad comared to hiliary hahn. So yes, i did listen to heifetz. But plz stop havin '' heifetz fever '' he was a genius but not the best.
+Susan Malinverno And Oistrakh's Sibelius was fantastic! [Currently own a CD of Oistrakh and Ormandy's Philadelphia Orchestra doing Tchaikovsky and Sibelius, 1954. Really great find!]
@@susanmalinverno933 Heifetz WAS AND IS the best, it's not a fever, it's a matter of taste and personal preference. You even can't compare Heifetz's bach to Hahn's, because at that time they didn't have so much knowledge about baroque, though Heifetz's Chaconne (the newer one) is the best.

it sounds so clean and clear but he certainly plays more off notes than any chinese protigy. Tis is "interpretation" much missed in the latter. Music is not only on technical perfection.
This is the Fritz Kreisler arrangement which is MUCH easier than the original version as written by Paganini. Oistrakh probably preferred it because it was shorter. Or maybe he couldn't play the real version......JUST KIDDING

Absolument magistral !
I rarely leave comments on TH-cam, but this is just so close to perfection, not soulless technical perfection, but the one full of art!
I do love the way he pronounces "Paganini Campanella".
I think it is really funny haha
Is that wrong?
A russian soul
That’s 100% correct Russian pronunciation. He is performing in Moscow in front of a Russian audience.
Its not his voice, its of a female host of the concert
27 people don’t like this recording. I sincerely hope I never meet those 27 people.
They are frustrated violin students. All of them are playing the viola in municipal bands
Bots 🤖
Agreed!
He did not play some parts of thr piece.
@Davi Moreira hahahahahaha
A master who doesn't play for the sake of virtuosity, even when it requires so.
Unsurpassable. Brillant, perfection in the form of a man.
What a beautiful performance. The mastery continues through his son Igor, showing how well he must've taught him. Thank you for recovering and posting this wonderful recording. Both men were gifted by God, and these recordings speak it so loudly.
Magnificent! Oistrakh gives this unlikely piece superb lyricism. Brilliant musician❤
This performance is definitely one of the finest ever. Musically and technically. Beauty of tone...
OMG... when I found this performance of 'Campannella', I have no doubts anymore which one is best. David Oistrakh plays absolutely incredible!

King David - the most loved....
Interprétation géniale !
This is so beautiful! Oistrakh has such an amazing tone and musicality.
Every time I hear his playing, j'ai des larmes aux yeux. It's been the same since I first heard him play when I was 12.
Magical. I find it so hard to believe a human being can make such beautiful sounds? I tend to think it must surely be some kind of machine! Wonderful.
We hear every note. It's so clear I can almost see the score
Excellent way of putting it.
superb, stunning, overwhelming in both technique and musicality
What a rare gem to hear. Thank you so much!!!!

He seems to have played a modified version of the concerto, because the are no double stop harmonics and the are no left hand pizzicatto passages.
