- This video is a 4-1/2 month review of the ECHO CS-7310 Chainsaw with a 32" Bar. I show some clips of it running for the first time in the winter and some clips of it running in May. I'm testing it out on some Silver Maple and some Cherry. Please share you thoughts or ask a question about the saw.

Where you discuss the winter/summer mode, it's the opposite of what I have seen most other places describe this feature on Echo, Stihl, & other chainsaws. It's my understanding the cover slot is opened for winter temperatures, & that allows the warm air from the engine to heat the carburetor. During the summer months, you close the slot so the warm air doesn't enter the carburetor area & expelled elsewhere. Many Stihl chainsaws do it the same way. Warm air is allowed into the carburetor area during the low temperatures. I can see why you might think what you said, but I believe it's the other way around or I may have misinterpreted what you said.
Yes, after looking into this some more, you are correct. Thanks for taking the time to explain!
@@MarkThomasBuilder Thanks for confirming that. I downloaded a CS-7310P manual, but the pic wasn't clear in it. Other Echo models show it better. I can see why someone might confuse this, too. Good reminder to keep one's owner's manual. Appreciate your review, too!
As an Echo repair specialist I can say with confidence that the 620 is the best saw Echo has ever made. For those that have the 590 and want to add some power just for kicks you can put the carb and the ignition coil from the 620 and you'll get more rpms in the cut. If you don't want to spend any money you can do a base gasket delete and modify the muffler by opening it up. You'll have more compression and more torque. This was a great review on the 7310. Thanks for sharing sir! Keep on bucking!
Hey Joe, thanks for stopping by. I appreciate the comments. I'm a big fan of the 620 as well.
600p is better than the 620
Nice tip! I have a 590 and the new style 7310 with the flip caps for fuel/oiler
Amazing saws! Had a shot of the shops 620;for a few weeks as well! Definitely a nice upgrade in comparison to the 590... But I think the 590 power to weight is perfect for sipping around with
Sorry but as a commercial sawyer, I see major faults with all three saws on that chassis. Choke levers stick out too much, break all the time, chain brake handle breaks a lot where it engages the brake arm. The stihl ms362 and the old husky 262xp are real saws, tough and powerful. The full wrap on the 620 is also not balanced correctly
Absolutely LOVE my 600p! Pulls 32" full skip like nobody's business 👍
Echo!!! That thing cuts like butter all the ppl that love to rant and rave about Stihl need to see this thing go!
😀 👍
I've had my echo CS 7310 g 28 inch bar for over a year now. Starts every time no problems! I would recommend yourself to anybody.
Glad to hear it! I'm planning on featuring the full wrap upgrade on mine sometime soon. I'll post a video shortly after I get it.
This man has a really long bar. I think it’s at least twice as long as my bar. He has more draggin than I’ve got hangin. Anyways, thanks for a great video. Very helpful.
I was excited to test this one out, but I'm also wanting to put a 24" bar on it to see how it does.
My 7310 with the 32" bar is an excellent Pro Saw, but it is a beast. When I am cutting on steep ground here my CS 620 with a 24 " Bar is my choice because of ergonomics, and still has plenty of power for Felling, 4.6 HP, 60 cc.
Dig your video, I have a husky xp 385 with a 36" bar, a echo cs 620p with a 27" bar and just got the cs 7310 with the 32" bar. Different tools, love all three.
Which one is your favorite these days?
@@jdp8944 I think I like the weight of the cs620p better but the 7310 just has a bit more umf.
@jeffvw1994 nice I'd like to try both of the them saws out. I got a 590 with a 24" bar, and I just bought a 28" bar and skip tooth chain for my 800p.
I have one in Northern California, it runs pretty good!
When I worked with a couple of the bigger tree companies back a few years ago, we always used Stihl. I knew Huskavarna were pretty good ,but Always preferred Stihl. I used to think echo was just a cheap brand low tier chainsaw. While somewhat true. I come to find out Echo actually makes some of the better chainsaws and definitely some of the best trim saws in my opinion. The new 2711T is just awesome and very powerful despite its size.
ECHO has worked hard to become a company who offers both pro series tools along with residential ones. I have to say that the 2711T is an amazing saw. I had to clean up a big maple that blew over in a recent storm and this saw was a champ for quickly cutting the limbs and branches to haul away.
Running that blade upside down would make it just that much better along with a modified exhaust.. sheeww shes a beast of a saw.
It’s definitely not the biggest echo in displacement…the 8000 or 800p is the 80cc and you can actually still get the 1200 or 120cc displacement if you know the right guy…. That’s a 70cc size saw and a 24” bar setup is practical or a 28” skipper tooth chain setup will work just like the 372 or a 044/046… you don’t want to have a super long bar and chain combo on your powerhead because you are actually really stressing your crank and bearings with all that extra drag and being loaded up constantly and always having that massive amount of side loaded torque…. If you are cutting and your chain is good and hot and stretched out really far and you tighten it up so it’ll not jump off and then you just go home and toss it on the floor of your shop or shelf and you don’t spin off your chain tensioner four or five twists of your tensioner screw after breaking the bar nuts loose then when your 3 foot long bar and your 112 driver’s links chain is going to get cold and it’s going to shrink back into it’s normal size and it’ll be tight on the bar! And it’ll be pulling pretty good against the backside of your sprocket and driver and your PTO side bearings!!! That’s why 80% of the time when a saw has an air leak from the bad seal and bearing it’s on the PTO side!!! And it’s a rookie mistake! Using just a long enough bar to get the job done and not incredibly long bars will greatly extend the total longevity of your saw’s working life cycle…because you won’t be doing extra work on those pto bearings and then they will get a little worn and the crankshaft is allowed to wobble slightly and that’s what kills your seals surface. Unnecessarily long bar and chain combo’s add a good deal more stress and strain and more ware…
That saw is a beast… I have the cs590 and I’m running a 30 inch bar chainsaw milling huge red oak logs. So big that my 30 inch bar isn’t big enough. So looking to upgrade. I like echo, they have good power and reliability at a good price.
There's lots of great things to mention on this saw. The filter system is a nice upgrade, great for a saw that gets lots of use.
I have an Echo Chainsaw but it’s only a 14 inch one Echo is a really good brand I’ve never had any trouble with mine.
Glad to hear it. I've been happy with my ECHO saws so far.
how about it's construction? is it an alloy case w\ a bolt on cylinder? or is it a clamshell engine unit inside a polymer casing\body?
A 70cc class saw with a 24”-25” bar’s pretty wicked… the 28” with the skipper tooth if needed. I can drop a 4-5’ diameter tree with a 70cc/25” combo… we really don’t see much stuff that is bigger wood then the 4’ to 5’ thick sticks! A 20” is a little bit short and the 24” is too long… a 22”-23” super lightweight bar would be awesome!!! Don’t get me wrong…if it’s your only saw and you needed to cut up some giant rounds to get them split up then pulling out the 36” bar with the skipper tooth chain and getting the job done is going to work but it’s just not much fun…. I run the skip tooth chain primarily because of it’s far superior chip extraction ability…so with a 24” skipper setup… 85 3/8ths .050… that’s a super blaster for sure!!! Very happy about the new echo’s and Shindawia’s saw’s!!! They are all fantastic!!!!
What brand chaps are those? Like them
Labonville with the safety wrap design.
Well thank you for showing me how to take off those caps! I would of never thought of using the pull cord to take those off!
No problem. ECHO introduced that feature on the CS-2511T just before this saw launched. It's very handy.
Thank you for this information. I have been considering buying one of these.
Glad it was helpful! Someday I want to run it with a 24" bar in a video, just to see how it compares with my other saws.
@@MarkThomasBuilder That would be cool! I bought the 620 PW with the full wrap bar last year -- I've been running the 24" bar on it, and I've absolutely love it. That's why I'm really leaning toward another Echo for my next saw.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: What size bar would you get for this saw? How many face cords of firewood do you cut and split per year?
One or two sizes down from yours, Mark!? Nice video and review, especially the slow mo, nicely done. But hey, I’m a fan anyways, but I have to ask, which model gets away from the consumer grade of things? I mean, should someone even consider going up from a Timberwolf? Hope you’re doing well and staying safe!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁✌🏻🇺🇸
Thanks, I'd say any ECHO saw that's an X Series is where you get above the Timberwolf, farm & ranch chainsaw. If you're looking for something mid size, the CS-501P is a great saw.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Thanks Mark! I have the CS-501p in my cart currently, but don’t understand why it’s $562 and change, when the MSRP is lower. This is at Home Depot. Must be the ole “supply and demand?!” 😳. The 5000 series Makita is very comparable, and cheaper, so I’m torn between the two. Thanks again and stay safe and Healthy! 👍😁✌🏻🇺🇸
@@georgedavall9449 check echo web site for dealer one day sale and that day you can get 15% of any x series echo. I have a cs501p and its a great saw.
@@vintagesawyer6246 Thanks Steve! Happreciste the reply and feedback. I just watched Mark’s earlier review of the 501. It’s generally a well received saw. Take care buddy! 👍😁✌🏻
Great video Mark! I would love to try out this bad boy! 💪
Thanks man, It’s a beast! I’ll trade you for the Ventrac for a week?😂👊
I’ve always owned echo and what really blew my mind away was the fact that I never new about the pull start feature where you can use it for unscrewing the gas cap 😂
Yours and mine both and it’s great to know because those gas caps can be a pain in the ass to open!!
Looks fast. Love Echo products for that. Good vid. Want to check one out now.
I was just using the saw today on a tree that fell. It's a beast!
That thing is a beast with the 32" bar. I gotta get one.
They now offer it with a power wrap handle setup.
@@MarkThomasBuilder thanks man. I saw the PW is an option. When I get one it will be the PW
good video mark :) cant wait to get one soon :)
Right on! Let me know how it goes. 😀👊
Are the bar studs on that saw 19mm? I have a sthil 500i and it's bar studs are 8mm. I'm just wondering because I use a Norwood portamill to make lumber and my bar studs have been snapping..if these bar studs are that big it might be the trick
The nuts are 19 mm. If you're breaking studs you're doing something wrong.
Question: do the handle part numbers overlap from the 620 to the 7310? I know I can put CS620 handle and wrap handle on a CS590 in place of plastic handle, didn't know if possible here?
I'm not sure about that. I talked with ECHO about the upgrade and they recommended this part number seen in this video... th-cam.com/video/vd6z_eBnbpw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VneDeHk1H2F3DNMZ
Full wrap is now available for the 7310
Yes, it's the best setup for the 7310 in my opinion. I made a video showing how I upgraded the handle with a conversion kit from ECHO.
Cutting dead powder wood again… echo need to send you some trees too. The sight line is for the direction of fall while felling a tree for people who can’t use a handle line. Tell Echo to send these saws to Buckin Billy Ray Smith. Thanks
I have quite a bit of silver maple which isn't that great for firewood. I posted some content on some cherry, which this did a great job with. Thanks for stopping by.
Have you looked into the german makita?
I haven't heard much about them. I just looked them up and noticed they're a rebranded Dolmar. Sounds like a good saw.
Them “DolKitas’ rock!
I'd like to try one sometime👍
Dolmar/makita saws are great they are very heavo also they are being discontinued makita are going to strictly electric tool equipment
@@tristensoutdoors8183 Wrong!
I run the 7310P and also the Husqvarna 572XP. The Husky is higher RPM and stronger, but has its quirks. THe Echo runs too rich even with the H needle as far lean as it can go, which is limited to about 20 minutes of clock motion. BUT, the Echo always starts; hot, cold, hot day, cold day, it just starts. The Husky starts cold, but prone to vapor lock IF shut off hot. With auto-tune it is always running right once started. How well either cuts is a matter of how well the operator can sharpen saw chain.
So I've owned & ran Echo's CS-8000, the newer version CS-800 & the CS-680, each with pros & cons. How would you say this model compares to those? Did they improve on the shortcomings of the past? I was kind of supeised their new "big saw" is actually smaller than the predecessor 😒.
I really need to put a smaller bar on this one, like a 24" to see how it compares with some other saw I have. This one is similar to my Husqvarna 371XP, so comparing both with the same size bar is something I need to do. Overall, I'm happy with the 7310 and it's worked well for me. The only thing I'd like to see is a full wrap handle, like my 620-PW.
@@MarkThomasBuilder i can't understand why they haven't copied the 620 platform & just made it - bigger lol. That is truly a legendary saw model & am absolute fave by anyone who's own & ran it.
Yeah, the 620 is amazing. I was talking with someone who has a Logosol sawmill and likes the 7310 filter design for the constant running demands of the chainsaw.
Is it stronger than stihl 382?
Dude great video good saw.It needs leaned out just a tad.
Thanks man, appreciate the advice.
The air filter is identical to the CS-680 model.
That's cool, I'll have to look at that one someday.
I noticed you wear proper leg protection, contrary to many people using chainsaws we can see on TH-cam. But I have to admit I can't really imagine what would have to happen for the chainsaw to end up hitting your leg. Could you explain the risks? Many thanks.
That's a great question. I'm not an expert on this, but I heard most of the time the accidents happen above the knee and it's usually when user fatigue sets in. It's important to pace yourself and not push your limits. I'm betting a 32" bar, like I'm using here, is more likely to hit your ankle area. I also have steel tip boots. I invite others to weigh in on this question, thanks.
Or climbing ladders cutting with one hand🤡
@@Dirtyharry70585 Good point!
Kickbacks don't always go straight up, they can go straight back at you and the saw bar is usually at leg level. That said, I don't wear protection either but man, I do worry about it, especially since I put that long bar on my own 7310.
The chain snapping is 1
2 if it kicks backs it has a possibility of getting yah
3 if u hit nails or steal in the log it can spit those out at u an get yah.
Boys all chainsaws will cut like butter if you have right size bar and chain and the chain sharpened correctly!
Great chainsaw, but the price keeps going up. It was a great value for your buck back then, not so much now with the ms400c being 100 bucks CHEAPER, while being a lighter saw with the same power..
Full wrap now available
Interesting timing to hear this! I was on a call with someone from ECHO yesterday talking about something else and I asked about this and he said yes, the full wrap is in production. I can't wait to add it to the saw! 💯👊
How does it compair to say a stihl ms 460? It doesnt sound like it revs out much ?
This saw was new when making the video and it opened up some after running several tanks through it.
I might have a chance to try the ms460 soon. If I test it, I"ll let you know.
Husq 371 replaced with 372? Did you mean 572? That would make more sense.
Here's a forum that has some good information on the 2 saws and the slight differences. www.arboristsite.com/threads/371xp-vs-372xp.211860/
I was at the dealer and picked it up to hold...wow this thing is heavy, put it back on the shelf....grabbed a 590 timber wolf 20" had weight but not as bad got it home went to use it and it said nope not today😠...Echo Rep shows 3 days later, take it back in and he gets it going along and then I held a 7310 while it was running...and it was barely anything
Huh, that's interesting. If you can get a good balance with the bar, it seems to feel lighter.
this was original the 7310 came with...yea I was being a weak ass that day🤣
@@rumplestiltskin4113 Lol, I know what you mean, some days the 7310 feels heavier than others. Although, when I'm running the small saws , I don't notice it too much.
My timber wolf is the best saw since the husky 268 xp
How it holding up
It's doing well. It really came in handy during a storm last summer.
You can buy aftermarket wrap fir 7310p
I talked with ECHO a few months ago and they offer a part to make it a full wrap. I plan on putting that on my channel soon.
I wish the dry weight was 12.2 @6 minute mark!
I was wondering why Echo doesn't supply a carb. Adjustment tool to adjust the carb within the Epa limits atleast? Other manufatures supply a tool tool atheist adjust within the carb. limiters. Buyers of this echo7310p are NOT happy!
Yes, I understand what you're saying. I had a conversation with an ECHO product manager recently and he mentioned that they use fasteners that require tools that only the dealers have. I guess they want trained technicians working on them. Fortunately for me, my ECHO products have done well, needing minimal maintenance.
ECHO Super!!! 👍👍👍 🍻 🤝🤝
💯💯 thanks for stopping by!
You got the cold air window wrong
Thanks for pointing that out. I'll have to go back and look closer.
@@MarkThomasBuilder it lets heat from the cylinder to warm the air so filter doesn't freeze.
@@Broddi169 Ahh, I see. Thanks for stopping back by to explain it in detail.👍
@@MarkThomasBuilder be sure it's closed in warm weather or could damage the saw.
I have the 372
Great saw, isn't it? 👍
@@MarkThomasBuilder yes it is it performed well
is this availavabie in the philippines where the address.
I'm not sure if they sell them there.
if one don't care about saving a couple of seconds or so for every full-size slice, just put on a full-skip chain.. but only on the longest bars, no need for those on most lengths..
Sounds just like a Husky to me and built like one also in many ways, just needs a 20’ bar and chain
Interesting observations that are similar to what I think too. I have a 371XP that this one reminds me of. I also put a order in a week ago for a 20" bar and chain. I'm interested to see how this does with a bar that size.
what fuel should i use ?
Echo Red Armor Oil and mix it with non-ethanal fuel which is often 89 octane, or higher.
When ported with muffler mod the 7310 will smoke a 500i
I'd like to test those saws!😁
Yep. I have a ported 7310 and my friend who is a diehard stihl guy has the 500i. I can run circles around him. He absolutely hates it.
Needs muffler mod and tuned
Sounds like a cool idea. It's still in the break in period during this video.
Looks like a good saw especially for homeowner use but I personally have had no luck with any piece of equipment commercially other than husky or stihl I mean I've taken brand new stihl 362xp and ms 261's and on the first tank was making base cuts and knktching and dropping and the saws now been around 3 year's honestly its probably a great saw but there is a reason people compare stihls and husky and not echos and homelites
Good video though
ECHO is working hard on at competing in the professional category for landscapers and arborists. I notice them gaining momentum. My Husqvarna 371XP is one of my favorite pro saws. This CS-7310P is working well for me so far and has nice power. I'd like to run a 24" bar on it for kicks.
Sad waste of time watching this video all he cut was Dosey rotten Hardwood and a couple cuts on a soft maple that you could see is starting to get bad
Is it worth the money tho???
The saw is a beast and has an amazing air filter system that makes me think this saw will run well for many years. I've been impressed with ECHO products, never needing to bring them in the shop for carb repair, unlike some other brands I own. So my answer is yes, it's a good investment.
You can put 54 inch bar on it
It's made to go up to a 32" bar.
How much $ for this saw?
I think it's close to $900 or maybe just a bit more.
Late comment here Mark. Nice video as always, but I have to say Mark, I was a little disappointed. I was hoping to see you take down like a 5 foot diameter tree with that saw! 😳😳🙄🙄😁🤣
Seriously, I think ‘Crocodile Dundee’ would have said, “ Now that’s a bar!” Biggg big bar. It seems to work well on that saw. I’d probably run next smaller size. We are same height, but I’m sure you in better shape than me.
Picked up a CS 590 today, with 20 inch bar. Gonna try it and see if I like it? I got it with extra chain, can of Red Armour pre mix, for a little over $450.00. Not too shabby I suppose...
Stay safe and Healthy! 👍👍👍✌🏻🇺🇸
Hey George, I'll have to keep my eyes out for one, lol. I have a handful of people who know I'm into firewood and let me know of opportunities. They've been a little quiet yet. I guess we haven't had any big wind storms.🤷♂️🤣

KONAMAN ! ! ! ! ! !
I almost got one I’m glad I didn’t I went with 500i instead
I haven't tried the 500i out yet. The efi sounds interesting on a chainsaw.
Hi You have one receiver that says the 7310p is made in China! HE COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG !!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE !!!
They're all made in Lake Zurich, Illinois. The engine is from Japan, but otherwise the parts are from the USA.
Sounds kinda rich.
It was still breaking in at that point. I'll probably feature it in another video with a 24" bar just for kicks.
The echo is great build quality. Seriously lacks in power. I think it’s almost pathetic spend a little more and get a 372 xp. Oh
Echo is a Japanese made saw that's not only amazing but it's also cheaper than equivalent Husky and Stihl saws, also Husky's used to be fantastic because they were made in Sweden, but now they are Chinese trash.
@@TheDennys21 Husqvarna is still very much made in Sweden
@@alexstromberg7696 only the pro saws are made in Sweden still, the rest are made in China my man.
I would agree with you Ben, pathetic. I have had mine about a year and a half and I'm not impressed at all. Dealer says there is nothing wrong with it. It's a shame because I love the features and build quality. I have contacted echo to see what there willing to do for me.
Imagine putting a 12' bar on it lol be good for ripping through hedge apple n shit
Haha, that's for sure. I put the 20" on there for kicks and definitely like it.
Made in Japan...it doesnt get any better than that.
Side note...the ECHO chainsaws are assembled in Lake Zurich, IL. I think the engines come from Japan.
@@MarkThomasBuilder youre right, just likenthe f35 jet fighter, theybare now able to build tjem in japan, but engine comes from USA.
In my honest opinion
Saws of this caliber. They MUST comes with a full or 3/4 wrap handle and bigger felling spikes
I have two holzfforma g372xp (husky 372 clones)
Yes, I plan to upgrade to a full wrap when they're available.
She's running a little fat...I bet if you could adjust that carb, it would pull even harder
Thanks for the advice! I'll have to look at it.
Echo 7310 -the last samurai , bye
👍
That saw is under powered especially with a 32 inch bar. I only run husqvarna. I have demoed the echo and seriously not impressed
What Husqvarna saw do you like? I have an old 371xp that's a beast.
I'm with ya bud. I was impressed for an echo but wldnt give any of my 371/2xp's for one
Well you have to tune it, echos come very rich out of the factory.
The one I ran had 50-60 tanks through it and was dealer tuned
I will only own Echo products. Stihl is hot trash. Known carburetor problems. Don't start or idle for 💩. Lawn equipment included.
Interesting, I hear a mix of things about Stihl. Hopefully you have a good dealer.
I’ve had a great experience with both echo and stihl. Seems to be the case for a lot of products, not just yard equipment. We’ve had great luck with Honda vehicles, I know someone who hasn’t. My stihl trimmer and blower run awesome, absolutely no complaints.
@@michaelholly88 Yep, I agree. There could be other factors, like the oil you use and the fuel quality and if it sits around. ECHO Red Armor Oil has helped all my 2-stroke items run well. I'm trying to stick to rec gas (non-ethanol) as much as possible.
@@MarkThomasBuilder that’s another thing I was wondering too, makes a huge difference in performance from my experience. Exchange red armor or stihl hp ultra full synthetic are my go to. I use 93 and stihl HP ultra, I’ll buy red armor 32oz for winterizing and leave till spring
you have NO CLUE what you're talking about........Stihl and Husqvarna are the ONLY brands professionals use.....NO ONE is using Echo, period! Echo is amateur hour.......Not even up for debate.
No way that was the most powerful saw in North American in 2020
