John Constable Painting: A Bank on Hampstead Heath. Time lapse Oil Painting

  • In this video I look at one of my favorite landscape painter's works. John Constable painted 'A Bank on Hampstead Heath' c.1820.
    My painting session for this canvas was about six hours, working wet into wet.

    Materials:
    Canvas panel (primed with Venetian red ground), Nylon and Sable brushes, Mineral spirits, Oil colors(Lead White, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow light, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Prussian Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Ivory Black.

    Looked at a lot of constable paintings and its the darks in his paintings that make them stand out.
