I used to paint very detailed paintings. I have just started painting again after a 20 year lapse. Having no formal training I really appreciate your thorough descriptions of what you are doing and why. It has allowed me to look at my old paintings and figure out why some were so good and what was wrong with others. I absolutely love you tutorials. Finding them by accident on You Tube has inspired me to paint again!

Beautiful. I especially appreciate the close ups you provide on your brush strokes which enables the viewer to see exactly how you're holding the brush and the way the bristles are being used. Also the explanation of what colour you're using is very helpful so the view understands exactly what you're doing. This is so helpful for someone like myself who is still learning. Your talent is beyond amazing and your videos are extremely helpful. Thanks so much for sharing.

I respect a person who does not take their God-given talent for granted. It is obvious that you are dedicated to exploring the depth of your talent. You have a spirit of excellence in your work and your teaching. Your generosity will create room for more opportunities to learn, improve and enjoy your craft. I am new to painting, so new, that I haven't even purchased my brushes. Watching you I vacillate between inspiration and "forget it". Fortunately, the choice is mine, and I choose to be inspired. Thank you and God bless you.

Andrew is masterful and inspiring- much like his beloved New Zealand is to him. Don’t despair viewers who are serious artists, though it is easy to become discouraged. He shows us a creative path and if we are disciplined and attentive. We can do it!

I'm learning to paint in a more loose style than you paint, but I always find that your "blocking in" of your paintings are so beautiful that the blocking in generally serves as a really fantastic tutorial, particularly your discussion of color and why you use various colors for mixing. No matter where I go for tutorials, I end up right back here again and again. Thanks, Andrew.

I tried to paint this with acrylics and I can honestly say I've never worked so hard on one painting. I spent 40 or 50 hours on it, way more than I normally spend on my works. I came away with a great admiration for your talent. I also went to the store afterwards and purchased a starter set of oil paints....I have learned that there are some effects that acrylic can't duplicate effectively. Thanks so much for this lesson; I learned a great deal. Ken in Philippines

When I was studying decades ago, I was fortunate to have several exceptional landscape artists to learn from. But I have to say you taught as much in this short demonstration as I learned in a year of in person classes.
Now my kids are grown I thought to give it another go. But I don't remember a darn thing. And we are in lockdown and my teachers are long gone.
I am thrilled to find you.
