The scene where Val Kilmer looks up, sees the cops, then immediately opens fire is one of my favorites in any film. Holy shit is it intense, and it just lays out the mindset required for the work in like 2 seconds.
What an absolute treat for the night shift, one of the many not-child movies a la Road to Perdition/Full Metal Jacket my dad showed me as a kid that stuck very hard Allllllllways gotta make time for Waingro
I watched this movie last year after hearing Thorin’s enthusiasm for it. All I can say about this film is it lives completely rent free in my head. I’ve not had a movie in a very long time make me lean forward in my chair anticipating what’s going to come next.
Just found this channel from Richard Lewis's destiny interview. I've been waiting for a non-esports show from you guys for ages. Should promote this more as I never heard of it before that.
The missions "Three Leaf Clover" from GTA 4 was also heavily influenced by the bank heist from Heat. The movie really established how an intense heist/shootout should look and feel like.
Glad to hear Rich talk about Collateral, seems like every action movie the last 10-15 years has attempted to copy that night club shootout and the gun-fu you see everywhere in action movies today.
The scene where the heisters are shooting and moving is used to teach squad tactics sometimes and When Val Kilmer reloads his rifle it is also used as teaching material, it’s textbook.
I hope if they ever get around to doing thrillers that they do an episode on Collateral, another Michael Mann banger. I feel like that film is a good supplementary to Heat. Also quite underrated I find.
I was hoping for 3 hours tbh, but I guess 2 hours will have to suffice.. Joking of course, this was an absolute banger episode about an absolute masterpiece of cinema. Easily in my top 15 favourite movies of all time. Thank You very much, gentlemen. Cheers!
I was born after Heat came out, so to me it didn't seem like a super impactful movie as I grew up with great heist movies like The Town or Hell or High Water (though that's also a sort of western) and not realising just how innovative it was. Having rewatched it now though, I felt that like how I felt after rewatching Reservoir Dogs after years of forgetting about it, where I remembered them as so much more forgettable than they are. Thanks for making me want to rewatch it!
ohhhh yes! I watched Heat when I was like 5 and all I remember is loving Van Kilmer's hair xD Always meant to watch it as an adult, but only got around to it because of this show and absolutely loved it! Can't wait to listen to the episode!
to me heat is a really good movie, maybe I just wasn't in the mood when I watched it but it felt like it was missing something to get me really into the movie near the beginning
This video is the only one on your channel that is copyright struck in certain countries. It's easy to circumvent with a VPN, but the problem is that it doesn't even show on your channel if you are in one of those countries. The only way to know that this video was uploaded is through your X post.
This movie was amazing my first watch was recent i remember all of it very well even after just the one watch another cool thing that i motived was i had played videogames referencing this movie the shootout in the streets if la is a mission in payday 2 and the first heist in the movie is mission in gta i thought it was dope to see what the reference to those games was this movie. Also would love to know what you think of the Netflix show kaleidoscope its a series about a heist crew 10 episodes but you can watch it in any order of episodes that was its niche i thought it was a really great watch
1:50:35 Yooo Heat is at 8.3/10 on IMDb and at #112 on the top 250 movies list right now. I should know, cuz I gave it a 10/10 back when I saw it 10+ years ago and I'm trying to 100% the top 250 IMDb list over the last few months.
@@RLewisReports That's true as hell. My overall fav film would be Guy Ritchie's Snatch but Heat definitely makes it into my personal top 20. And it set the benchmark for all heist films to come.
Heat is perhaps the PERFECT movie, but not Pacino's best acting, that would go to Carlito's Way. Heat was the point where sane Pacino jumped the shark.
I have to say I disagree with Richard in the closing remarks. Firstly he says it 7.8 on IMDB when it in fact has 8.3 which is a much more reasonable score. But that is not what I disagree with. I dont think this is THE heist movie at all. Maybe it is just me but I think there is a distinct difference between bank jobs/robberies and heists. A lot of the time these kinds of movies have more or less overlap between robbery and heist, but this one and even more so Dog Day Afternoon are robbery movies and not heist movies. Heist movies for me have more planning, cunning and an element of surprise. Fewer hostages and gun wielding. The Oceans movies, Logan Lucky, Now you see me, Le Cercle Rouge for example are all in my mind more heist movies than DDA and Heat even if they can have other issues like being style over substance, not very good (NYSM) or just not quite at the level of Heat and DDA.
The three of you are the greatest podcast combo, not just in esports, ever.
Loving Thorin with the M4 lol, That image with Rich and Monte would look amazing on a t-shirt.
This. I kinda hope they do the art for each theme as a T-shirt design.
That'd be dope, a merch store for LFN shows would be cool

you should promote this channel a bit more
im watching quite a lot of thorins content and never knew that this channel even existed

Also the mission "Blitz Play" from GTA V is beat for beat copy of the opening heist from this movie.
This is not only a banger movie, the quotable lines are mint.
Glad to hear Rich talk about Collateral, seems like every action movie the last 10-15 years has attempted to copy that night club shootout and the gun-fu you see everywhere in action movies today.
@@SelendekiI meant more 'grounded' gun-fu rather than running up walls spraying an uzi while in slow motion.
COLLATERAL IS A FKIN BANGER !!!
There's a feeling or a vibe about Heat that no other film has ever made me experience since first time watching it
I very much missed this show and this is such a fun specific genre. I will absolutely be watching along again.
The scene where the heisters are shooting and moving is used to teach squad tactics sometimes and When Val Kilmer reloads his rifle it is also used as teaching material, it’s textbook.
I only saw Heat for the first time a couple years ago on Thorin's recommendation. It's such a great film, and this was a great reflection on it.
I hope if they ever get around to doing thrillers that they do an episode on Collateral, another Michael Mann banger. I feel like that film is a good supplementary to Heat. Also quite underrated I find.
Perfect timing for this to come out as always. Gotta long day of work ahead of me but this will make it better
I was hoping for 3 hours tbh, but I guess 2 hours will have to suffice..

I've started listening your podcast, and then immediately wanted to watch the movie again
One of my fave movies ever, great to see it finally get a video
Classic can re watch this over and over
Rewatching these, patiently waiting for the next Four Play.
Banger gents, keep including your fav's in the series, fire episodes

Can't wait to listen to the episode!
watched this movie so many times, was a treat re-watching it for this episode
First time ever seeing this movie and it was incredible. Probably my favourite of the series yet alongside The Thing and LA Confidential
Great episode
Love this channel so much I could watch daily.
since its also Michael Mann please do another episode of one the most underrated movies of all time: Miami Vice
Great episode. I’d enjoy seeing the three of you review Drive. Much like Heat, drive is a movie that is always rewatchable imo.
Ive been blue balled for this ep for weeks. I guess the fourplay was too good; but the climax was worth it.
Ps would love an ep on the prestige
Loving the content very entertainig on classic movies
just made my brothers watch Heat with me the other day lmao excited to watch this too
Honorable mention to inside man for heist movies. This however is the ultimate
Weirdly one of my favorite Val Kilmer movies...Real Genius. Odd movie but I'm always entertained by it.
you ALWAYS make time for Waye Grove !
Love this show.
Just for info the youtube music app already has the next episode available to listen, not sure if it's a bug.
to me heat is a really good movie, maybe I just wasn't in the mood when I watched it but it felt like it was missing something to get me really into the movie near the beginning
Thorin's favorite movie is Prestige? Would have never guessed tbh
Can we get that image on some merch guys? Epic artwork!
quality watch
Love this love heat too
banger movie, banger show
Nice, gonna enjoy this
We back
Love it!

Heat fucking rules. I wish they had Al Pacino use coke to make his acting less ridiculous.
Heat has 8.3 on imdb and is #112 all time, 4.3/5 and #166 on letterboxd all time. I don't think it's underrated at all same with Collateral
Can't wait for Dog Day Afternoon.

They don't make em like they used to eh boys
Just do 3 hours, fuck it, we will listen

Yeah, Google threw up the wrong aggregate score for some reason and I didn't go to the website itself. Only being 112 is a crime.

by the way i have heard that the us military uses that film for training
hell yes!
By the time I get to Phoenix🎶
Are we ever getting a Roger Eberts’ top 4
Same thing that was cool about death note is present here

👍
Thank god the cretins of the sigma grind set scene won't find this movie. They would have a field day, give it the American Psycho treatment.
I don't think she loved him so much- I think she loves his shallow parts and ignores all his bad parts. Bad taste basically.
