Just want to leave a support comment because this channel with both four play and nerd legion has become my favorite thing on youtube. I still watch the esports stuff for the most part but honestly just care less and less about esports as the years go on. What you guys are doing here is truly evergreen and I hope it maintains and becomes an LFN mainstay

This podcast is getting me to watch some films I probably never would have. Some of them are stinkers but this one certainly wasn’t. What a unique and interesting film!

Friend recommended me The Deer Hunter and I saw Fredo, so it got me intrigued because outside of The Godfather movies I never saw John Cazale anywere else. So I did some research on him and found out about Dog Day Afternoon and The Conversation.
Far be it that he is the best part of the movies he only plays support roles, but they are two of the best movies I watched and I recommend them to everyone whenever they ask me for a good movie.
Really glad you guys choose this movie, because it is so freaking good and the performance Pacino gave is just amazing.

I was not expecting this movie to hit so hard. A lot of the themes explored here deeply resonated with me. The social justice elements take centre stage but I also think it does an amazing job depicting the kind of despair and distress that finnancial hardship can have on people and what it can feel like to not be able to adequetly provide for one's family/relationships. Thank you for introducing me to this one.

It's definitely an underappreciated gem, pacinos face at times in this movie say 100 words, love most of your guys stuff but this series has been fantastic so far, hope you guys keep it up for a long time

If Anna Gun got so much hate for just portraying an unlikeable fictional character i can't imagine the abuse the real life people get from being displayed as such on film.

I am catching up on the movies and episodes I missed in the last few months. This was an interesting movie, even though I got spoiled some of it by watching Mindhunter a few years ago!
Cheers for these episodes, excited to catch up on the newer things

1:16:45 I agree with monte here. People don't have the attention span or the finesse to sit through a movie and extract subtle meaning from it. Most movies nowadays hit you over the head with their message. Look at how much money barbie made just by being pink. Zoomers want a 15 second tiktok with gtav stunts at the bottom

Fail Safe by Lumet is a banger as well if you like Cold War movies. Would also like to recommend the book Making Movies by him to anyone reading this if you really want to know what goes into creating films and learning more about that world! It will help you appreciate his films and cinema in general more.

I think there are a lot of other movies that would have fit the theme of Heist Movies better. The Italian Job and Oceans 11 are way better Heist movies than The Thomas Crown Affair and Dog Day Afternoon.
Dog Day Afternoon is a great movie, but it's NOT a Heist movie. It would fit a lot better if you guys did a Hostage Movies Four Play.

I am one of those people who prefer Dog Day Afternoon over Heat. Perhaps it was just my mindset at the time for Heat but I found the first half a bit slow. However, in Dog Day Afternoon I found Al Pacino's performance mesmerizing. I also tend to prefer character Dramas over most types of TV/Film and so Dog Day Afternoon was fantastic for me. I also get a lot of schadenfreude of watching something fail miserably so I was laughing the whole way through Dog Day Afternoon.
Pretty rambling and unspecific comment, but that's how I feel off of the top of my head.

I came across this movie a few months ago and was blown away by it.
Watched Deer Hunter right after and was so upset to find out that was the last movie with John Cazale in it.
Also, being a zoomer--i think this movie didn't have a resurgence for no other reason than being a movie from the 70s. You just simply see the date on it when scrolling, and think it wont hold up to today, and then keep strolling.

Also, these are my favorite videos. Always happy to see you guys review a movie that I thought no one would ever talk about, and that no one I know irl has ever watched. You start to go crazy when you realize most young people are missing out on these types of underrated films.

Before I watch this, I am hoping for a similar take of that one of Batman Returns. Rename this flick to Dog Shit Afternoon. But if not, I am hoping to see the arguments to why this steaming pile of excrement should be considered good. Either way its a win because this content is fire. (I understand that a dog day is nothing good either) Renaming purpose was just to link it to a heap of dung.
