    Picked up a T200 a few weeks back and am extremely impressed. It catches and plays with light like a perfectly cut diamond and is a joy to look at from every angle. The lume, while not overly bright, does seem to last all night long. The bluetooth feature makes setting it as easy as can be, though I would be totally lost if I had to set it manually :)

I hoped you would do a direct comparison video and as usual you came through with excellent execution. There's a probably a case to be made to have both in the collection for different reasons but in the end you can't go wrong with either. Glad you found an Oceanus that wasn't all blue though! Perpetual calendar and down the second accuracy means it's the watch that is used to set all others except for the Casio GWM-5610, which is itself solar & multiband 6 synchronized here in the U.S. Great battle! But when Seiko decided to leave the "affordable" watch world while simultaneously abandoning quality control, I started obsessing over microbrands. However, in 2022 Casio seems to have all the watches in my "Grail" watch lists. The Oceanus T200 is now on that list.

    IMO the S100 has some more graceful curve sand proportions in the case, just a touch less blocky. And your comment about the bezel-less three-handers too -- with the T200, less 'breathing room' between the indices and bezel makes this more apparent. But both really nice watches.

    Well done, Jody. I must say that I prefer the S100 stylistically over the T200, but it's so d@mn close. Small remark on the S100 bracelet, that one is also provided with two 2/3rd links (slightly bigger than half) for more fine adjustments than just the 2 holes in the clasp.
    Also, you need to get the clasp on the T200 checked, it's leaving way to much of a gap in the closed position.

    Excellent review Jody. Well scored, however personal choice, I'd give more to the Stainless Steel, I'm not a Titanium fan, any I've had scratch too easily and look awful, even those hardened coatings wear off. It was a pleasure seeing both of these watches seconds hand hit most if not all of the markers though it looked like the S100 was hitting ALL the markers whereas the T200 missed quite a few at the top. I'd have equaled up the score due to that. Watching both however made me think of the Swiss made Tissot PRX I had, which only managed to hit two markers around the whole dial. Swiss does not necessarily mean good quality control or attention to detail. I like both but Stainless Steel is still my choice.

      I thought the same thing about the seconds hand ticking precisely on the markers. I have a Casio Edifice "CasiOak", the number escapes me but it looks like a very slim, quartz AP Royal Oak, and the second hand hits most indices bang on. So... Casio can do it for $200-$500, but Tissot can't for 2x-4x the price? Yeah, no.

    The T200 really is amazing for its price, and puts to shame a lot of watches that are priced way higher than it. Thinking of picking up a second colour (the grey/black) version if I can.
    My only tiny gripe is that I wish the 'Oceanus' text was a little smaller

    S100 all the way. One of the reasons u buy it is specifically for the titanium bracelet so not being able to swap it out is a moot point. Also OMW is biased towards Bluetooth as he lives upside down with no radio signal so the battle of the watches is also moot... Basically@ the end of that all I got was OMW would prefer the S100 with Bluetooth... Savvy!

    Great shootout! The Oceanus line makes me wish more brands would opt for solar quartz movements in their affordable offerings. I'd much rather have solar quartz with a sapphire crystal and upgraded finishing than the typical NH35 or Miyota automatic movements.

    • @El1988Che
      @El1988Che ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be cool but Quartz is loosing ground in popularity. There's a clear decline in affordable quartz watches sales because you have smartwatches for the same price... And people are starting to buy mechanical watches as jewelry than a tool that tells the time.

    • @bobcrane812
      @bobcrane812 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@El1988Che I agree. Plus I only need one or two quartz watches in my collection for when I don't want to set a watch, where as I never get tired of a nice automatic.

    • @severnsea3924
      @severnsea3924 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@El1988Che I'm not so sure, a lot of people buy an automatic for the finish and craftsmanship while quartz are usually associated with cheaper, more affordable watches for the masses and I think it will always be that way. Over the last few decades more people have a more disposable income and quality of life than was previously the case so I think a lot of those people are treating themselves to a "posh watch", but when you can buy a quartz watch with this level of quality then people take notice. The Tissot PRX is one of the most popular affordable automatic watches of recent times but it's far outsold by the quartz version. I bought the T200 for £270 after almost buying the Longines Conquest at £1900 - the Casio was a no brainer.

    I can’t comment on the Oceanus but having purchased a G shock metal I am amazed at the “crystal” dial and build quality. It always displays the “time” and even though I am lucky enough to have swiss and GS, my G shock gets a lot of wrist time. Casio really are great value as well as “ luxury “ feel. Casio could do even better if they simplified some of their looks to avoid the transformer look.

    I've got to Respectfully disagree on a lot of the scores here. I understand a lot of this is subjective, but I think thestrongest disagreement for myself is the dial and hands, I think the 100 has to take it there. The text at the 6 position helps to make the dial more symmetrical and balanced due to the logo and writing at the top. The asymmetry and lack of any real writing on the 200 makes the dial visually unbalanced and very odd to me, as someone who on every watch I own has text at the 12 and 6

    • @severnsea3924
      @severnsea3924 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As you say it's subjective but have the exact opposite view. I hate the text at the bottom of the 100 and it seems pointless and unnecessary to me. If it said something more relevant it might help but "Tough MVT" just sounds a bit crass to me. Just a shame they didn't put the date at 6.

    S100 is great in design and color. The only thing I appreciate from T200 is the coating on the crystal... I hate Bluetooth connection because is bi-directional and that means a little radio bombardier on your wrist (also, because of that, is not stealth). I prefer the one with RC, radio reception only... But again, S100 is great.

    Regarding weight, I have a circa 2015 model Certina DS-1 ETA 2842 watch made in titanium. 39mm size, 11mm thick. Model number C0064074404100.
    I wasn't keen on the titanium bracelet which feels quite flimsy.
    Swapped it onto a "kuki-flex" leather strap and when I weighed the watch it was around 40 grams, Quite impressive for a mechanical watch and despite owning watches many times more expensive it is still one that I grab quite often. You hardly know it is on your wrist.

      I have a Citizen cb0030-56e that is about 8 years old. It's a titanium case and band, with no hardening on either the case or the band. And, it shows its age. I have some more recent titanium watches that have hardened coatings (both from Citizen and Oceanus) and they hold up well - scratches are almost entirely invisible. I think you'll be happy with the modern, hardened titanium watches.
