The S100 is the best value for money watch available if you are looking for a do anything wear anywhere watch. It will survive a swim, take a knock or two, and still look good enough to wear on the most formal occasions.
I've this one and i can't believe how good it is, the weight is just so light! I even wanted to buy a CW Twelve in Titanium but they are not treated like Casio, they scratch so easily and that's a $1900 watch! Insane, insane value i would only swap this one for another Casio with the sapphire bezel, such unique design.
If you want a nice affordable alternative to this watch I would recommend the Casio wavecepter. It "only" has a WR of 50 but it has a boat load of features for a solar watch at around $100cdn. I purchased one for my Dad for Christmas and he likes it so much that he's always wearing it. My dad hasn't worn anything other then a medically forced fitbit in 40 years. I think its the best budget bang for the buck solar watch out there because of all the features it has. Basically anything you'd find on a std gshock but in a nice enough package you could wear it anywhere with enough WR that Id only worry about it if your into professional water sports or diving. I got my Dad the leather strap version (you can get it on a bracelet for around the same price) because of his arthritis. I wouldn't call that strap the best but a 30 buck leather strap from barton fixed that right up. Much better then the codura/leather strap that came with the watch and barely fit my dad (jdm watches 😂😂). Also I think the case is plated plastic given how light it is but that's a good thing given my Dad's arthrigtus and frankly I'm not worried about it cause I have budget casios over 20 years old that are still functioning with worn but still srevicable cases. Straps maybe not so much. 😂😂 I also got the one with nice decently large arabic numerals on the watch face instead of just markers. I feel sum numerals on a watch face just make it easier for my brain to read the time faster (like a rolex explorer less can be more) and its defiantly easier for my dad to read. Especially at night with the loom and led orange tinged back light. Sorry I get talky sometimes in chats or comment pages. Especially when it comes to solar watches 😂😂
Thank you Hans for a very informative and good video. This watch is so nice and packs so many features. Like a true Kinder Egg I would say. A perfect combo of tech you normally only see on a smartwatch, but with a good design. Why is this only available as a JDM Casio? It's now officially on my wishlist!
Thanks, much appreciated! If I am to guess, perhaps making it a JDM made sense back in the years before release in 2012. Then changing this later might be hard due to internal policy/stakeholders. Or perhaps production capacity and/or profit margins for the Oceanus line are limited so they use it more of a flagship for brand building purpose.
Hi, a fellow watch lover from Sweden here. Good review. I bouth mine 3-4 years ago and I wear it allmost everyday. My other watches seems to stay in the box. My only issue with it is the tiny text and Im about your age and my eyes aint what they have been. I would need more than reading glasses to be able to use the worldtime function. But I can after this time with the watch tell you that i still love it. It is just so easy going and I love the fact that it is very accurate. I gree that it is a downside that the bracelet is integrated but I allso think that it is very nice looking and nice to wear.
Really nice. I want one (or maybe I'll go for the Oceanus with the white dial). One of my friends is heading over to Japan for holidays next August and asked me what watch do I want.. I'm about to make a decision
Hi Hans, thanks for your complete reviews of this watch. I got mine since few days and I'm in love with it. Japanese try to keep the best pieces for them apparently.
I feel like the Oceanus line does not get the love that it deserves ! Perhaps it’s the JDM status of some models , however I think these are great ! I love the design of the dial . Trust me , this is an awesome watch !
It doesnt look like a normal integrated bracelet watch from the video but my eyes may be deceiving me.. this looks like casio's modern answer to the rolex explorer
The case has a "center lug" that is fixed so the end link is actually shaped like the rest of the links. Makes for a very solid and quiet connection but it prevents any standard strap from being installed.
I bought this directly from Japan years ago, and it cost me about 700 euros. And I'm still over the moon with the watch! And the titanium, while being much better than usual, its still titanium. You will get scratches, believe me 😅
I regularly buy casio jdm watches and the bands are too short for my 9 inch wrists. I just tell my local casio service center that I recieved the watch as a gift and they readily sell me the links for an ok price. which is usually 10 to 20 a link depending on the watch.
a take my 100m Protreks fishing, swimming and hiking in heavy rain all the time. unless you are doing actual tank diving or high speed water skiing I wouldn't worry about the we at all. as long as that's a screw down crown so you can garrantee that crown is not out before you go in I wouldn't worry about it. the only time I would worry about it is if the watch is 15 to years old. I got 20 year old solar watches still going on the og battery that I might be iffy about taking in the water cause the orings maybe suffering dry rot. IMO on solar watches when you have to chg the watch battery after 10 to 20 years get it serviced with a new battery and o rings and it will be fine. I am beggining to wonder if maybe the tough mvt solar watches are tough enough that they can actually be heirloom watches. they are always accurate and I've only ever wrecked one by accidentally not securing the crown before pulling a wallet out of a freezing river.
I don't know where you can buy this watch for $100, probably in the trash when someone throws it away... Normally, this model imported from Japan costs over $400, so the title of the movie itself is crap. I don't even want to watch it till the end.
Aha now I think I might understand where u are coming from. The title on the thumbnail says Casio Oceanus S100 - not $100. It is def not a $100 watch new !😅
I think this looks excellent! Great review Hans!

100%
Indeed it is a great watch, I have one. Highly recommended. My only gripe is that the lume is relatively weak
Not the brightest, but it is a long laster!

i snagged the ocw s100 and s3000 . Just beautiful details on these.

Thanks for the comments and suggestion 👌Personally I have not had the pleasure of testing the Wave Ceptor yet 😎 But perhaps some day!
may I suggest casio lineage?

It should have screw down crown.
Rått med en norsk klokkeyoutuber! Gleder meg til neste video😊
Mange takk 🫶 Kommer snart en ny!

Casio Oceanus OCW-T150-2AJF
Thats what I call a good friend 😎 Great choice

Glad you enjoy it! Thanks, and congrats on an awesome watch.

100% Awesome
You have to be able to live with ANUS on your dial.
Just ran across your video. Good job, I like your style. Considering adding this to the collection. New subscriber.
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated :)

I have been so tempted by this one and the S200 for the longest time. I'm partial to stainless steel over titanium.
Usually i prefer SS too but the Ti is so well done here. Go for it if you can :)
I bought this directly from Japan years ago, and it cost me about 700 euros.
And I'm still over the moon with the watch!

👍👍👍 Yeah even hardened titanium doesn’t defy the Law of Physics yet 😅 But way better than the usual Ti grade 2 or SS.

Wish it were a tad bigger. Otherwise as a Casio and G-Shock wearer this is my grail.
I find it large enuff for my 22cm wrist. I wear everything between 38-45 and this is a perfect size.
Is this watch still being manufactured?
Good question. I assume it is as it’s available online in Japan on the Casio Website.
Nice watch but what band is that on your t-shirt? Looks like black metal stuff
The t200 is a also a nice watch
Yeah looks like a killer that too👌
@@HansWatches T200 has no curvature on the left side of the housing, which bothers me with S100

Seiko sbtm 217
Looks like a Nice alternative. Do you know if it picks up radio signals in Europe/Americas etc?
I don't think I could ever justify owning a watch that has the word anus in it.
Haha! Good point. If the name was Uranus it’be even worse 😅
I'm Chevy Chase & Your Not 😂
Hello Chevy!

I got mine in mint condition used in Norway for $200 - who said 100?
Nobody watches til the end anyways but thanks for starting it 😂

Love mine
