#breaking #bboy #paris2024
The problem wasn't the move like kangoro. But the slowty and no flow.
Exactly it’s not what you do but how you do it. Not the move it’s about the grove
Le vrai problème c'est qu'elle a été pistonnée pour être là, elle est claquée point 🤣🤣
I first thought the clips are in slow motion. 🤣
@@mars7720and she had no groove at all.
Thankyou for having her's and Australia's back, along with the breaking community downunder and Oceania, says a lot about you. Thankyou for being a defender, much appreciated.❤ If I had a koala emoji I would have put that on there.
Yeah initially I thought there was manipulation of the qualification process, however Bboy Rush cleared up the misconceptions (he did an Instagram Live for 90 minutes under the handle thepyramidarchitect) where he even discredits that petition that is going around. He discusses that Oceana's scene really isn't that strong and they really did try to field as many people to show up to the Oceana qualifier. As surprised as I am about the result, I am now convinced that it was NOT due to malicious intent. I posted previously being skeptical especially with some news organizations austrailia running with the qualifier manipulation story, however it seems that these news organizations did not reach out to the source (which Bboy Rush was the WSDF judge for the qualifier). Knowing that, I don't want to bully someone that went through the right channels and battled like the rest of us. Sorry if i propogated a previous narrative (I think you mentioned that creative types may jump to conclusions) and I will do more due diligence in the future. Love your positivy Coach!
I agree, I think this gave breaking way more exposure than otherwise, and a significant portion of those checking it out will have come from looking up Raygun, but later getting amazed by the other Bgirls and Bboys. If the IOC knows what's best for the LA games, they'll make some adjustments and put breaking back in there. It's would be one of the biggest event in that year's Olympics!
I don't agree with taking over the internet being always a good thing. I remember when Electric Boogaloo came out in the cinemas that had a similar effect as Raygun's performance. It made us look like a joke for most people, and it was hard to find clubs to dance after that. Breaking dissapeared from TV, and it was hardly seen again until the very late 90s. Obviously back then the community was barely existent and it's strong now. It won't be the same, but it won't help making breaking more respected as the Olympic games were expected to. In that sense it's clearly a step backwards.
An acceptable performance does not receive a 0 from the judges .. 3 times
You can’t polish a turd, but Coach Sambo can roll it in glitter. I agree the breakers should be original, but this is the Olympics, not your local jam. She’d get the same response in Freestyle Session or BC One
I'm completely satisfied Raygun fairly qualified. However I'd really like to see her training schedule with her coach (husband) because it seems she just rocked up and winged it. Watching the La Monde documentary on the double air flare really did a deep dive in the commitment from Bboy's to nailing a trick. I really feel for Raygun she doesn't deserve the hate.
Not all Art is good. Not all thoughts outside of the box are good. The criticism and mockery of her is justified. The only way to describe Rayguns performance was that it was so ahead of time, that time wont ever catch up with it.
Creativity and expression needs all of our emotions, not just positive ones we all like. It also isn't simply hindered because of limitations, constraints, ridicule etc. as these have historically been some AMAZING sources for some of the greatest inventions and creative expressions we have ever seen. While positivity can be a great part of creativity and expression, so is negativity. They are equally valid and it's more about striking the right ratio than just going with one over the other.
Really appreciate this take. I'm sad that people are really aiming to take her down. I wouldn't say it was as high technical level as the others but it's still valid imo. Also it's maddening how NBC won't allow any other footage to go on so the media is really trying hard to stoke this
Not really her fault if the scene in Australia couldn't provide more athletic and competitive dancers to the Olympics.
She did what everyone else did and won a local tournament to represent her country.
I can't really blame her for taking the opportunity.
Raygun was so embarrassing, Australia should be ashamed
Don't worry. We are
im an Australian, and yes i feel ashamed.
So u are trying to said that breaking is like a art form there no right or wrong how u do it? Can i stand or sit through out the competition cos that how i like to express myself.
Wow... talk about sugar coating...
2:25 …and who won gold at mixed team air pistol? 😅
She’s the Kamala Harris of breakdancing!
if you don't see this was intentional and she will clear at least 1M in marketing you're just naive.
the more that is revealed about her, the more she looks like a grifter.
I doubt that, because there is literally evidence here on YT of Raygun doing those moves years ago.
raygun and imane khelif are 2 best finds of this olympic
did they take down the video because of copyrights violations??
They did, it was almost at 600k
@@CoachSambo sad, also since its the most on point commentary for this on youtube
@@aeonian4560 it was sure pissing people off
Yeah the World knows it's still alive. The problem they are only focusing on the negative performance. I can probably assume none of the people putting this subject on Media will watch Breaking outside of this lady. That means they aren't learning or ever going to respect the high level and underground culture. It would have been better if she delivered a better showing.
So the highest level of breaking can also SUCK. Hah, just kidding. But seriously if one gymnast was doing expressive random moves as the floor exercise the reaction would be the same.
I honestly see the point. But please also consider the room in which you dance in. Olympics, 80% to 90% athleticism and about 20% to 10% artistic expression. So while yes, it is new. Yes it was it's 1st time in this platform. And yes, there is a completion and regulations learning curb. I'm sorry to say, no, the dance didn't read the room. Will not dog the art, but will dog the athleticism. Which includes flexibility and poise too. Sorry. Also, FYI, in customer service they say it's easier to receive a bad survey, than a positive word. Just like trauma never leaves you but happy times do. So its easier to remember bada this because they shouldn't happen more than good things the should always happen.
Well yes but then you are beginning to blur the line between art and sport, I think people who watch the olympics are conditioned to the standard power move breaking since to them that’s the “peak” athleticism the culture has to offer, just as how sprinters don’t have different forms of sprinting, people don’t expect an “artistic” spin on breaking, much less rayguns unconventional style. But idk, im not an expert, just my opinion
I understand the spotlight but this was the first time of breaking shown as a sport, she represented all the bboys and bgirls in the world not just her country or style. In 1 month everyone will forget about it but the fact that people saw breaking more seriously will not happen in the near future.
I gues where is no bad comercial :D If this is a case then Raygun is the best by performing bad :D
originality is great, but it also has to look good and feel effortless. Otherwise you just look like a kid that doesn't have any inhibitions but neither skill
You know why everyone hates bgirling and not women's soccer or women's basketball? because those sports receive sponsors, annual competitions and awards, like the Ballon D'Or. Knowing that Hip hop exists thanks to Cindy Campbell's birthday gives a lot to think about
Women’s football is now more appreciated than it was a decade ago, the comparisons to all non-US teams against them at the last WC shows. Women’s basketball has been popular lately because of Caitlin Clarke. People dislike women’s sports because you get men who like to gatekeep sports as if it’s for them. I always think breaking is popular because it has always been the subject of pop culture
And name a sport where women’s is more popular with spectators to men?
Answer: figure skating in Russia and volleyball in China (as it was after their Rio win)
I understand wat ur saying ,BUT crap is crap , ,this is the olympics ,not backyard performance on weekend , there has to be a standard which is set, not just some1 think they great in there on mind ,
she got zeros meaning she didn't win on creativity either, why not?
cope
They should have had different events just like gymnastics does. They have floor, horse, bars ext. Breaking should had been divided into power moves, floorwork, kill the beat ext.
