I’m glad you skipped hammering the stitches flat. If you had repeatedly smacked Grogu in the face with a hammer, I don’t think the internet would have ever forgiven you!
Sanding down the sole, and heating up the glue to remove the footbed can both be achieved on back of a refuse truck😂. I’m speaking from experience with heavy duty boots being worn down in a matter of months

Do you notice a difference in the way the various nations build their handmade shoes? Are the italian shoes built a noticeable difference between the English or French shoes?
Back in the 70s and 80s you could go into a Vans store and custom order a pair of shoes by mixing and matching any of the panels. You could get suede or canvas in dozens of colors and patterns, including printed patterns on the band around the midsole. If you submitted a pattern that they liked enough to add to the catalog you would get a free pair of shoes and a tour of the factory in Orange County, California. I think most of that stopped once the van Doren family sold the business.
