100 percent! Find your sweet spot temp and leave it on auto. Stop running your heat on high or cold cold in the summer. You’re causing your windows to fog up. I never have foggy windows ever. I keep my auto on 23 c 74 f
I have a 2018 E Class convertible and recently I keep having to change my digital dashboard setting as it keeps changing from mph to km, why is this happening?
Not sure why it wouldn’t be retaining settings. I do recall there being users on that model of E-Class but it was in Home, Settings, System and down that page. Have you spoken to Mercedes about it?
I have been complaining to the Mercedes dealer about this for a year now. To this day, they haven’t been able to provide me with an explanation or solution. They did mention that several of their customers have complained about this issue, and Mercedes was supposed to escalate it to find a solution, but so far, there’s been no response. I will send them this video. Thank you🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Ah! There we go! Yeah it’s not a fault at all, although especially in the winter months people do notice it. But there is a genuine reason! All Mercedes do it 🤓 Oh and this video is for you guys first so they won’t be able to see it yet till it’s public. Probably be the next week or the week after….Haven’t fully decided yet 😅
Hi Nick, the car also turns the fan down if you make use of speech control, for instance if you want the next song in your playlist you can order that without saying “hey Mercedes” first, so in Dutch you can say “volgende titel beluisteren” and the car will slow down the fan momentarily like it is listening to you and then changes to the next song. I think the climate control is brilliant, I have a heat pump, so the car is already warm when I get in and the steering wheel as well , but if I get in early, there is still hot air blowing from the middle vents which can get quite annoying, drying out your eyes. It quickly shifts when I start driving so cool air comes out of the middle vents and in combination with seat heating, steering wheel heating and hot air on your feet and out the side vents, which is very very comfortable. I’ve had a lot of other cars from other brands also quite expensive cars too, but not one has the climate control like Mercedes does. BTW in the EQA and EQB the sync button is a button to continue the set temperature in the car for half an hour after you left the car. And it indicates a preset heating or cooling with different color leds when a preset time is programmed.
Gods teeth - you've done it again! This was niggling me - I almost thought there was a fault with the middle vents. And the different fan speed auto thingy - brilliant. Honest - YOU should be writing the manuals for Merc!
I just bought my 2025 E class, and I noticed my middle vents are not blowing air, so I called my dealer and spoke to the service advisor where he told me I have to schedule an appointment to service my car. Thank you Nick you saved me a trip to the dealer.
This is absolute NEWS to almost everyone as nobody has ever known what happens when you up or down the fan speed while the system remains auto the whole time. Thanks heaps Nick. My only complaint about the system is that when I hit sync it turns on all 3 rows (5 zones in my GLS) which often I have no one in 3rd row and then I have to go through the menu to just switch off the 3rd row. Also the hey Mercedes doesn’t understand to just turn off 3rd row if I ask, instead it turns off the whole aircon. A first world problem!
Thank you for explaining this. I knew some, but its great to get a quick and easy tutorial. I didn't realize that turning on heated seats, and steering wheel, doesn't turn on the rear window and mirror's. Maybe Mercedes can add a toggle for that to be automatic. Back in the 90's, I had a neighbor who had a Geo Metro. She could not understand why her car was fogging up. She just bought it, and asked me for help. I told her that the recirc was on, and it was condensate from her own body heat. Turned if off, and instantly the car de-misted. BTW, this weekend we were invited to our dealership to see the first G580e in our city. Quite impressive.
Oh awesome! Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes I’ve seen so many times especially with the colder weather recently that more interiors of cars are misted up. A/C on and you’re all sorted! 🤓
Nice, I didn’t know about the different auto fan speed regimes! One thing concerning the middle air vents: on my EQV, there are three climate modes: normal (which is equivalent to what was described here), diffuse, which will avoid any air directly hitting the body, and focus, which will do the opposite and will also use the middle air vents even when it’s cold and the HVAC is blowing hot air. I use this mode, when I need to warm my hands.
Aha there we go! 🤓 Yes I’ve seen that before on some SL’s and S-Class. Just a more luxury way you can control how the air comes out. In a scattered way or more direct 😇
Thanks for the explano - I’ve often wondered why my 2019 W205 C43 Coupe’s central air vents aren’t as HOT as they should be in other marques. It now makes sense, even though, I always override it!
Thanks for the info about the middle vents. I’ve been thinking about taking my car into the dealer to complain that they aren’t working but now I understand you’ve saved me a journey. My car has a button next to the a/c rest showing 3 squiggly arrows around a fan symbol. This is I think the stationary heater but it seems pointless as unless the car is completely cold I would just use the a/c rest for residual heating.
@ I’ve a B250e. An auxiliary heating button seems pointless as the only use would be if I were to go and sit in a cold car without going anywhere. It’s a nice car to ease me into electric driving so my next car will be a full EV.
Ah one good use case is if it’s very cold outside and you pop into the shops. You can keep the car warm for when you get back. Or…use the app and do it on there 🤓
Another fantastic video. I realised the internal circulation button switch off after couple of minutes. May this is to make sure we have fresh air let in. In my 2019 a200 I don’t have menu button. Or I might have ignored it completely haha. On another note, i noticed yesterday if we have the key in a bag and put in the boot and try to close the boot, the car doesn’t allow it.
Great Nick! I also have the A class and I was getting confused why the middle vents had a mind of their own. Now it’s all clear thanks. I assume the rear heating vents work as the front middle ones ? 👍
So my 2024 GLA 200 AMG Premium has rear vents with dual zone climate. I assume the rear vents follow the front middle ones when in auto? Thanks again for a great video; you should write their car manuals!
Hi Nick. It's same idea as house radiators placement. Because cold air is ''heavier'' and going down, radiator should be in best position under the window. If any air leak go through from outside, it's coming heating up and go up. Hopefully make sense. So in simple words cold going down, hot going up. Btw about blowing air zones-is there somehow way to set up in the same time for windscreen and legs? Greetings, Tom.
Thanks Tom! Yeah that’s a good analogy! I should have used that! It would do that with heat anyway, (more so on the feet) but you can toggle the air flow area on the menu button 😇
Many also do not know that there is a possibility to change the aircondition air flow to a higher level. Via Star diagnosis you can change the ventilation to tropical climate which means the ventilation is really blowing heavily. Usually cars in the US are delivered with this adjustment.
Would love to know where the ‘rest’ function is on my 2021 E Cab 350. It’s easy in the SLK (R172) but I have not found it on our E. Great work as usual.
Thank you! Technically speaking yes, but it is such a small difference that you won’t notice these days. Years ago, it used to use a lot of fuel but they are very efficient these days, so the benefits of having it on, vastly outweigh the fuel usage. It’s minimal anyway. Here’s something for you, this topic can be boring but….I tested this. I tested how fuel efficient my car is at certain speeds and I kept A/C on the entire time! th-cam.com/video/OAYWKrKu7kI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=i6anaCWGrtyspyI7
@npoleary I will take a look later today on that video. Today it's minus 25c, I wonder what impact if any there is with having the settings as you say? Has MB done any testing with this type of cold temps?
Oh yeah of course! All car manufacturers test their cars in extremely cold weather. They ship each model out to a cold climate (while it’s still in camouflage) and test them. I’m not sure what temp they test out specifically but there’s lots of snow and ice everywhere!
Check it out. When the front defog/demist is turned on, both the fan on the inside and one on the outside clear the window. We became aware of the outside fan on a cold day.
My 2018 GLA45 has a setting called “rest” on the drivers side heater control button. I rarely use it, but I believe it is designed to bleed heat into the chin if you walk away and lock the car up for say 30 mins. My only observation is the it can cause minor misting on the windscreen. But oddly you don’t mention it any of the modern vehicles?
Ah that rest mode isn’t really on many models these days. I have seen it on a couple but it’s not listed why some models have it and some don’t. Yes it is very useful in the winter!
Perhaps also mention the AC condenser should turn itself off when outside temp is closer to zero. My old Audi/VW cut off is 5C, to prevent system freezing. This means climate control will be less effective at humidity control, existing moisture in the car will take longer than usual to clear away.
Useful info as always! On another subject, I would like it if we could deactivate auto wipers and run them manually, those merc auto wipers are geriatric!! Is that a thing?
The wiper stall has several positions Off Rain Sensor (low sensitivity) Rain Sensor (high sensitivity) Manual Low Manual High So the last two on the stalk are manual
Excellent video but I was hoping he’d explain why they have 3 vents in the center of the console. I the screen on the Ev is lovely but a slider for volume control is a deal breaker for me. Has to be a knob.
Thank you! Well that’s just a design choice I’m sure by Mercedes. Probably inspired from the previous generation that also had three vents. Why three…not sure but that’s what they went with :) maybe two didn’t look right 🤓
@ Yes, I imagine you are right, it’s about the looks. I quite like the EQB, but I feel like Mercedes is neglecting it. I’d like to see it get the battery, horsepower and range that the competition has. I know you were looking at the gas model, but I think the EQB looks the same inside which is why I was curious to see if I could find and answer to the age old question, Why three vents?.
Well the EQB is based on the GLB. A lot of car manufacturers have similar models / chassis which are similar underneath to their petrol and diesel models. So they’ll characteristics like a transmission tunnel or the design of the cockpit inside. Models like an EQE SUV are in fact built from the ground up (an engine wouldn’t fit in those types of car)
I love how we use different words for the same thing. De-misting for defogger. And air-con for AC. As you know I am a sprinter owner. The sprinter has “auxiliary” fresh air vents that pass fresh air no matter what you set the temperature to. At first, I thought it was an issue with a blend door actuator. Turns out it is working as designed. I discovered this when I was driving around in 10 degree Fahrenheit weather. Warm air was coming out of the forward facing vents and cold air was coming out of these vents on the top of the dash. As you’re talking about the cold… I know Americans are famous for the “road trip”. Where do Brits go for road trips to drive to the warm? How long does it take you to get to the warmer places of Spain and France?
Yeah we do use lots of diffeeent words! When I visit the states I have to make a mental note to say restroom, not toilet as you get some weird looks. Or sidewalk / pavement and lift / elevator. Ah we just get on a flight and go somewhere warm 😅 maybe some might drive to Spain but most will get a flight!
@ Interesting. I was curious about how many miles per year the average American drove and how many the average Brit drove. Co-pilot (Microsoft’s version of ChatGPT) says 13k vs 7k. As an American, 7k doesn’t seem like a lot of miles. I also live in California, so temperate climate helps us to keep cars longer. I have a 2001 Honda Odyssey (bought new) with 408k miles. Anyway, with only 7k miles per year, that sounds like it’d take a long time to age out a car based on miles. How bad does the weather age cars in Britain? And how often do most Brits buy new cars?
Thanks Nick for your videos and all those infos, I just wonder if you had this problem before with AppleCar, it disconnects sometimes for a few seconds then connect by itself, I try to disconnect my iPhone from the car and re connect it again but still have this issue , and its a bit annoying when im using google map and it disconnects so the map disappear for 10-20 seconds till my iPhone reconnect to the car by itself, have you experienced this issue before or heard about it, im thinking to give Mercedes a call , I have my car for 2 months now
Thank you! Most of the time it’s not the car. It’s usually the phone from experience. Have you tried this: th-cam.com/video/ewEzOX3Ci-Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ijc-0ir5eL8BfsYo Try the wired method too, just process of elimination. The other thing to check is if you are using a VPN. And one thing I’ve seen before is issues connecting first thing in the morning, this can be if your phone is trying to connect to home WiFi (if it’s strong enough), struggles to connect to CarPlay and eventually does down the road. Try the reset network settings shown in the video above and let me know how you get on.
@ oh thank you for the reply ❤️ funny ive tried all of that before i put my comment except for resetting my phone network < i will give it a try and hope it works , thank you again
Audi does the same shut center vent when in auto heat. I think from engineering perspective there is another explanation which is the car wants to divert more heat to the windshield vent. Once I understood how auto climate works I almost exclusively use it nowadays. Especially winter I don’t need to worry cold wind blows to me when I start the car. It will be no wind then it will come out warm wind when the car heats up.
There used to be a button to hold to keep the heat in the car or at least keep the temp for a short period. In my CLA 24 plate I can’t remember what it is..
@ you’ll be very surprised as to how LITTLE the guys selling the cars knows about the tech in the cars now! This is why your channel provides so much more
I have the EQA and there are vents at the back in the middle. There is no screen the back and I can’t get hot air to the back of the car it only blows cold air out of the back vents There are no options on the screen for tri or quad either. Do you have any idea, I’ve been trying for years lol.
I bought an A35 premium Plus new last year. To me the heating is disappointing. It takes too long to warm up and was not as warm a feeling as my old A Class from 2000.
Hi thanks for this video. Do you know how to set the “recirculation” to be always INSIDE? I noticed sometimes i set it to be recirculating inside air only but out of nowhere, the car will just change it to be recirculating air from the outside.
All Mercedes will only re-circulate for a brief period of time. If you need it to recirculate, then you just press it again. It does this because apparently the air quality can deteriorate fairly quickly especially if you have multiple occupants. This just allows fresh air back in.
Hi Nick, just a question not related to this topic, i have a GLB250 and i noticed that the rear camera cover keeps on opening-up every time i come to a stop or similar, quite annoying to hear that cover every now and then, is that normal?
So I actually spoke to Mercedes about this as I’ve noticed it too. Previously it was mentioned that it popped out to expose the image ready to show on screen. However I’ve been informed now that all new models may do this and it’s actually part of a calibration process. Now this calibration process isn’t for the camera or camera housing. It’s for some of the safety systems at the rear of the car. Although Mercedes didn’t disclose what safety systems they are, I’m assuming it’s “Drive Away Assist” or Crossing traffic” or maybe “Active Blind Spot Assist” calibration. Basically it will do this “up to and around a couple of minutes based on conditions” (this is the total amount of time the camera is popped out). So over the course of heavy traffic going above 14mph and back down below again this may happen a quite a few times over the course of a journey as it quite normal. But once that threshold has been reached, it won’t calibrate any more. One thing to note though is that if the car is switched off and back on, the calibration process will start again.
On my a250 PHEV, I found rear vents very unuseful. While centre vents are ok, you need to set the level 6 (max is 7) to feel some air from rear vents. Does this happen to you too? I know you also own a A class.
If I remember set the vent manually to the face /centre vents and I’m pretty sure it’ll come out more. I think that’s the vent it shares. Let me know how you get on!
Dear Nick, I have a query, my GLE 53, Sunroof drape got busted twice and had to fix it, very expensive to fix, the dealers gave the reason as dust, or small tears. can you touch on the topic. awaiting your response
Ooo very nice! Oh no :( I mean I’ve had a Mercedes with a sunroof before (although not a GLE I should add) and I didn’t have any problems. That doesn’t sound quite right though…this is the cover right?
I have a question: is there a way to keep listening to youtube music through apple carplay while also being on a whatsapp/telegram call (via bluetooth)? Seems I can't do both simultaneously in my GLC 2025.
Is there a way to control the back vents? I always get lots of warm air from the front vents but nothing comes out the back ones for the kiddos. Fully open, and i do have the mid vent option on like in the video. a35 amg hatch 2021, thanks!
Some cars do have adjustment separately for the rear but not for the A-Class. Try putting it onto the direction of the face and it should flow more air out of the back. I think the front vents are the ones that are shared with the rear. Let me know how you get on!
This is something that really annoys me. It’s like the rear seat passengers don’t matter. You have to override the auto airflow and select the middle flow to get the rear vents blowing. It’s an extremely flawed system.
Some Mercedes follow the same set up at the front. They’ll have vents sometimes in the b-pillar or even in the floor. Same rules apply to the front as they do to the rear, if you select face, then it’ll come out the top regardless. As with all cars, the further you go up in the classes / models, the more luxury materials and gadgets that will appear in the back. You need to see an S-Class rear set up in Mercedes 😇
Really sorry I’ve never seen that before In the UK remote start does not exist. Some cars out there do have auxiliary heating like EV’s, plug-in hybrids etc and I believe some selected G-Class’s and Mario Polo’s might have an auxiliary heating element depending on the specification. But I’m fairly certain it just does the heating and the heated seat in the UK.
@@npoleary Thank you. Yes, really weird from the Mercedes app the auto start is great and works quickly. However it only warms the engine. It doesn't use the heat on any options. Weirdly, it also shuts the engine off when you open the car. Thanks again for your reply.
Technically yes, but modern cars are so fuel efficient now that it won’t be noticeable. And the effects of having A/C on outweigh having it off with de-misting the windows etc. I did a fuel economy test, worth a watch! th-cam.com/video/OAYWKrKu7kI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BXkTBfSFzXCisuWu Had the A/C on the entire time!
Did mercedes remove the understated menu on new cars, i dont now why but my C class s206 december 2024 is not showing, only sport, classic navigation and service
@@npoleary Hard to pick a favourite, they've all been highly informative, clear, concise & entertaining. Hopefully one day my lottery numbers will come up & I can put all the knowledge I've leant to some use.
@@npoleary My current favourite is the AMG E53, can't make up my mind to go for the white or the grey. I'm hoping you get to review one soon., superscreen, full carbon and night 2 packages please.
Hi, I am the owner of an EQA 350 four matic. I would like to know exactly what it means when I hold the right paddle for 2 seconds and it goes into automatic mode? Greetings from Denmark.😊
Edited: The paddles basically control the brake recuperation. If you hold the right one it’ll go back to D AUTO which is an intelligent brake recuperation and adjusts the amount it brakes when you take your foot off of the accelerator pedal.
I drive an EQB, if you hold one of the paddles the recuperation mode goes into “auto”. The car then “looks” for cars in front of you and bends and other obstacles in the route that need the car to slow down. It then automatically slows the car down through energy recuperation. In your display there is a green car indication with another symbol next to it on the left. That indicates if you need to brake yourself or not. Look it up in the manual, through the app on your phone, there’s an instruction video how to use automatic recuperation.
Ah yes sorry, that’s my fault I didn’t read it properly, just trying to keep on top of comments replying to everyone. There are hundreds after yesterday’s video! Modified it above 👆 The paddles basically control the brake recuperation. If you hold the right one it’ll go back to D AUTO which is an intelligent brake recuperation.
No sadly not, the air quality deteriorates very quickly if you have the air recirculation mode on. To allow fresh air back in it’ll toggle back to normal. Basically carbon dioxide (CO2) 2nd hand moisture, can make the driver and the passengers feel tired, hinders your concentration due to the lack of fresh air. You also find in certain conditions windows won’t clear as well due to the lack of moisture. It’s quite common for car manufacturers to do this especially high end ones. Completely get it why you’d want to have it on, city driving bumper to bumper, driving past rubbish dump other fumes etc but driving with air recirculation on for a long road trip can cause other issues. Best to do it every now and then, basically when you need it.
Darn...It was me that pointed out to you (as a video idea) that Mercedes didn't renew the what three words licence (to my annoyance) and you did the video behind a paywall! 😔 I presume your workaround (in your video description) is to use what three words app on the phone and then send to Mercedes app? On the question of heating I have a query, my car is the new GLC AMG Line Premium and the app has the remote feature of switching on the climate control. If I select a very cold temp and activate then go to the car the cold ac is blowing at full speed. Brilliant. But if it is cold and I select a warm temperature then the blow speed is more of that of a single asthmatic ant with a cough. What is the point? I realise that because the engine does not start (to preheat) the effect is going to be less than a started engine. But what is the point of the feature if it does absolutely nothing at all? any thoughts? It is like selling a camera with a drone feature where you pull out little wings but it doesn't fly 🤷♀
I had many many requests, and rather just say it doesn’t work I wanted to make a workaround so tried a few things first to offer value. All of my videos can be viewed by members first if they’ve signed up. Don’t worry if you don’t sign up you’ll see it public soon. I do that for all videos like this. For a bonus for them there’s a few behind the scenes videos too.
@@npoleary Not remotely you can't. You can affect the desired temp but it is still no more of a blow than an ant coughing. If you get in and start the car in auto climate on a high temp it blows more (which is understandable) without manual override. But the remote activation of heating does not do anything whatsoever and no manual override. Just strikes me as odd to have a feature that actually does not work. Unless cooling then it blows hard so great on a hot day.
Oh I see, I’ve not noticed when I have a car on test to be honest, I’m just happy that it’s nice and warm! But sadly I only get that if it’s a plug-in hybrid or an EV
@@npolearyThat is the point really, the remote feature to switch on the heating does not make the car warm. Has not a single % of a degree change. Cold AC blow yes, but heat nothing at all.
Apparently the air quality deteriorates very quickly when you breathe in the same recycled air. So to allow fresh air back in, they open again after 10-15 mins. Toggle it back on if you need it 🤓
I have cla 200 and its just too technical really, was easier with older cars e.g ford built an Orion with heated screen 35 years ago with simlple knob to put heat to feet/ windscreen etc so simple and effective. Nowadays its just all too technical and quite in effective. My cla windows fog interally regularly in damp weather, good vlog Nick but the airflow in my mercedes is poor compared to what we had years ago even though i love the rest of the car.
Yes its the right shade, unfortunately it gets stuck and doesn't open, had to change it and its not cheap. I believe mercedes have to think over for next generations
still find it strange why on most MB cars they do not have heated steering wheel, many other brands, inc lower spec have this !!! I have a 2024 EQB Premium Plus AMG - NO heated Steering Wheel
It just depends on the country, some counties they do have them in Europe where as it hasn’t been that common here. But after I bought my car, they introduced it I noticed onto one of the packages (assuming it’s still there) It does get mighty cold here! I would imagine it’s weighing up other things in packages without increasing the price too much.
The climate control on my GLE 400d is absolutely rubbish… there is no option the heat to go straight on the footsteps. It’s no matter which button you pressing just it’s not making difference. It’s always cold inside the car on the winter especially on the feet. Even in the summer when is hot it’s not powerful enough to blow a cold air everywhere inside. Last summer I was on the trip from London to Sofia with my GLE but the climate control is not working adequately for such a brand like Mercedes 😢 Nick really appreciate your videos but the climate control is from absolute shame
I’ve had a GLE on test in the summer and I certainly did not have any issues with it. I needed the A/C as it was very try got! Have you taken it to a dealer? That’s not normal if it’s not cooling the car or warming it up enough. Even the GLS that is longer in length has a good climate control system.
38°C? Yeah sure I’ll swap, but you’re in Aus if I remember @snuggles03? That place is full of spiders! 🕷️ 🕷️ 😅 Only if there’s A/C though to cool down!
@😂😂 i am from australia … and it’s summer… 4 consecutive days of 38 this week is tough to cope with …but all houses and apartments have AC…and yes we have spiders and snakes and sharks… they’re cool…
I have always wondered why I was not getting any heat thanks for that, but one thing I really don’t understand is why they don’t have a heating front windscreen my 20-7 Vw caddy has it and I don’t know why Mercedes doesn’t ?????? The Vw caddy is gone down the road and my Mercedes you would still be waiting. Makes NO SENSE to me it’s 20 times faster a game changer shame on Mercedes
No worries! Glad you enjoyed the video! Ah I believe some manufacturers like Ford had the patent for it years ago. But now it’s open to others to use. Some high end Mercedes do have it, but it’s probably a cost thing. It’ll just make the cars more expensive.
@ I think Mercedes should have heated steering wheel and heated front window as standard in my opinion as they are a luxury brand. But thank you for sharing how to set cruise control by pressing the button twice and it sets to the last speed sign that a game changer for me 😀. I have a question that you may be able to answer, what the difference in driving in comfort ? I mostly drive in Eco mode but I don’t notice any difference in driving in comfort mode does it make the suspension more soft or something ? Keep the content coming 👍
Yeah that would be good! Dynamic select affects the car engine and gearbox mostly but it depends on the car if it does anything else. Full video already on my channel I made ages ago: th-cam.com/video/XdYHeadHXLA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SMrosmQxgna6qeD1
@@npoleary Thanks You 👍 Do you think you save much more driving in Eco mode or do you recommend comfort mode ? I am the viewer who asked you would you like to do a video on buying a car and importing it back. I did in the end buy a E220d premium Plus as they are not an option in my country. Having a few small problems with the mult Beem headlights they keep thinking they are on the wrong side of the road. My Mercedes garage has had the car for over 21 days but it not still right 😂 and Mercedes they say don’t get back to them quick enough and they are trying different software each time. Good job I still have my 2017 caddy with heated windscreen 😂👍
It depends what you need from the car Comfort is everything you’d expect, smooth gear changing and most of the power from the engine. Eco on the other hand reduces that power, gear changing smoothly isn’t a priority, getting to the highest gear is. And Eco mode also enables a thing called gliding mode. It simulates putting the car into neutral (sort of) when you are driving down the road and you let the coast. So all feet off the pedal. This allows you to travel a further distance similar to how a bike works when you stop pedalling.
This Ytuber knows his Merc. Anyone (most people) who have been driven Merc for a long time are familiar with these unless they're lazy to read the manual. Most people who complain about how Mercedes works or how complicated it is are those migrating from Luxury imitation like Lexus, Acura, all Asians cars and others. They want to drive Merc or treat Merc same as the shit they're migrating from but it's not same because Merc is a whole new car, more Advanced for them. Have seen lots of Ytubers getting Mercedes operations wrong during reviews. Anytime i see a Ytuber reviewing Mercs , the moment that person hold on to the electronic key until the engine starts, I know right away that he's going to talk nonsense. Saw one Ytuber reviewing Merc and didn't even know how to get the real cup holder out and he complained bitterly that how come a car like Mercedes, an $80k don't have a real cup holder? I think Merc dealers must stop giving their cars to any Foolish Ytuber to review it.
@npoleary yeah that too, but I'm talking about using- inserting the electronic key directly into the key hole to start the car (before the push button became widely used). Mercedes, way back from 1999, you just have to turn/hold the key for few seconds then as soon as engine starts turning you let go off your hand from the key and the engine will continue to turn by itself until it starts but I've seen bunch of YTubers holding the key all way ( just like youll see with Mechanical keys) until the engine starts.

All Mercedes do it 🤓
Oh and this video is for you guys first so they won’t be able to see it yet till it’s public.
Very true! Does the same for phone calls too! 👊🏼
I agree it is a very sophisticated system!
I find it amazing that no dealer can explain this but you can. Thanks for the tip!
Glad you found the video useful! Thanks for watching! 🙏
Thanks, Nick. I was pressing all the buttons to get the middle vents working... Now I know. 😊. Back in the car with your video... lol. 🎉
Aha there we go! Glad you enjoyed this video! Thanks for watching!
Gods teeth - you've done it again! This was niggling me - I almost thought there was a fault with the middle vents. And the different fan speed auto thingy - brilliant. Honest - YOU should be writing the manuals for Merc!
Woooo! 😊
It was a question that a few people had asked recently, and what with it being cold out, it’s bound to be asked more! 😅
Nice one once again nick..you certainly know more than the dealers 👍..very useful vent info mate..gazz
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one!
Very thorough, Nick. There is so much to learn, goodness. Many thanks.
Thank you! 🙏
I just bought my 2025 E class, and I noticed my middle vents are not blowing air, so I called my dealer and spoke to the service advisor where he told me I have to schedule an appointment to service my car. Thank you Nick you saved me a trip to the dealer.
Awesome! Glad to have saved you a trip! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Oh I see yeah that makes sense, nothing wrong with a warm boot though? 👀
Thank you Nick!
No more nervous breakdowns😭trying to adjust the climate in the cabin.
SYNC is your friend 💕
Absolutely sync is your friend! 😊
Thanks Nick yesterday I was trying to change temp in my A250 and then this video comes and answered all my questions
Ah brilliant! Thanks for watching!
This is an amazingly helpful video, well done it answers so many questions 👏
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Gracias por el video, Nick. Muy útil e instructivo, como siempre. Un saludo
Thanks for that Nick i had no idea
Aha there we go! 😇
Yes I’ve seen that before on some SL’s and S-Class.
Thanks for watching! And glad you enjoyed this video 🤓
Really useful as ever, thanks.
Thank you! 🙏
Aha saved you a trip! 👍🏼
Ah that’s probably auxiliary heating, what model do you have?
Thank you! Yeah there’s some clever things that Mercedes have designed in their cars!
@@npoleary and thanks to you we are able to know and understand them better.
Now I understand. Thanks for sharing.
That’s alright! 👍🏼
I have the same problem with middle vents..Thanks to you and thorough explanation, now we don’t have to get it checked. 😁
Ah amazing! Yeah that’s how they’re designed 🤓
Great Nick! I also have the A class and I was getting confused why the middle vents had a mind of their own. Now it’s all clear thanks. I assume the rear heating vents work as the front middle ones ? 👍
Thank you! Yeah same process for the rear too 🤓
So my 2024 GLA 200 AMG Premium has rear vents with dual zone climate. I assume the rear vents follow the front middle ones when in auto? Thanks again for a great video; you should write their car manuals!
Yes I believe the rear ones do too as they share the same vent as the front (if that makes sense)
Glad you enjoyed the video! 😎
Thank you! Not all models have it…not sure why some do and some don’t….
Good video mate. Regards the air con, auto and sync being on, is there a significant increase in fuel usage? Thanks
@@npoleary maybe this is something I leave for the warmer weather later in June. Cheers and have a great weekend.
so helpful i was wondering this
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Excellent.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
😮😮 i have the same" issue "
Useful info as always! On another subject, I would like it if we could deactivate auto wipers and run them manually, those merc auto wipers are geriatric!! Is that a thing?
The wiper stall has several positions
Off
Rain Sensor (low sensitivity)
Rain Sensor (high sensitivity)
Manual Low
Manual High
So the last two on the stalk are manual
Glad I’m not alone in wondering why the central air vents aren’t as warm.
Saving grace is the speed at which the V6 heats up.😂
Haha yeah V6’s and V8’s do help in that department! 😜
This video couldn't have dropped at a better timing. I was literally asking myself why my new EQA does not have good airflow at the middle
Aha
It can 👌🏼
But it’s purely just how it’s designed 😇
Glad you enjoyed this one!
Without you, whenever I got into my car, I would think something was broken!
Glad you enjoyed the video! 😇
The once in the back also ! 😮
Haha yeah average for most UK drivers is around 7k. I believe the average age is around 9 years now.
Have you tried this: th-cam.com/video/ewEzOX3Ci-Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ijc-0ir5eL8BfsYo
Try the wired method too, just process of elimination.
Yeah it wouldn’t surprise me if other German manufacturers do a similar thing 🤓
There used to be a button to hold to keep the heat in the car or at least keep the temp for a short period. In my CLA 24 plate I can’t remember what it is..
Yeah it was called “Rest”. Some models of Mercedes have it and some don’t. I’m not sure why, it’s just something I’ve noticed over the years.
@ you’ll be very surprised as to how LITTLE the guys selling the cars knows about the tech in the cars now! This is why your channel provides so much more
I’ll keep the videos coming! More Mercedes videos coming soon!
Cool video😂, hot topic😂
😂
I have the EQA and there are vents at the back in the middle. There is no screen the back and I can’t get hot air to the back of the car it only blows cold air out of the back vents There are no options on the screen for tri or quad either. Do you have any idea, I’ve been trying for years lol.
Pretty sure that if you select face (just like the front) then it passes along the same vent. Let me know how you get on!
Cool, thanks for the reply.
No worries!
Air con is on all year. No need to turn it off. It keeps the air drier in winter , so quicker to demist.
Exactly ☝️
Dear Nick, I have a query, my GLE 53, Sunroof drape got busted twice and had to fix it, very expensive to fix, the dealers gave the reason as dust, or small tears. can you touch on the topic. awaiting your response
Ooo very nice!
Oh no :(
I mean I’ve had a Mercedes with a sunroof before (although not a GLE I should add) and I didn’t have any problems. That doesn’t sound quite right though…this is the cover right?
I have a question: is there a way to keep listening to youtube music through apple carplay while also being on a whatsapp/telegram call (via bluetooth)? Seems I can't do both simultaneously in my GLC 2025.
No sadly you can’t on CarPlay
When you take a call, your phone pauses the music. It does that in every scenario even if you’re not in a car
EQB 2024 same thing. Lot of warm from the front but cold from the rear. :/ I've tried every setting possible.
I have a question. On my 2024 G class 550 with my remote start from the Mercedes app, can it be set to heat, heat seats and steering wheel?
Really sorry I’ve never seen that before
In the UK remote start does not exist.
Does having the AC on constantly make the car thirstier?
Technically yes, but modern cars are so fuel efficient now that it won’t be noticeable. And the effects of having A/C on outweigh having it off with de-misting the windows etc.
I did a fuel economy test, worth a watch!
th-cam.com/video/OAYWKrKu7kI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BXkTBfSFzXCisuWu
Had the A/C on the entire time!
@ thanks Nick!
Did mercedes remove the understated menu on new cars, i dont now why but my C class s206 december 2024 is not showing, only sport, classic navigation and service
Not all cars have the understated theme, it depends on the year of car etc and the multimedia system etc
I've been following this channel for the past 3 years & I don't even own a Mercedes.
You made my day 👊🏼
What video has been your favourite? 😇
@@npoleary Hard to pick a favourite, they've all been highly informative, clear, concise & entertaining. Hopefully one day my lottery numbers will come up & I can put all the knowledge I've leant to some use.
Ah nice! 👌🏼 thank you!
Which one would you go for? Would you go sensible? Or go all out AMG? 👀
@@npoleary My current favourite is the AMG E53, can't make up my mind to go for the white or the grey. I'm hoping you get to review one soon., superscreen, full carbon and night 2 packages please.
Oooo nice!
Yeah I’d love to get my hands on one to try! 👍🏼
When you say review, will you write about it or make a video on it? 🙏
@@npolearyit is an EQA, the paddles are used for recuperation of energy, not for changing gears.
Modified it above 👆
The paddles basically control the brake recuperation. If you hold the right one it’ll go back to D AUTO which is an intelligent brake recuperation.
@deezet9518 thanks for pointing it out 👊🏼
I can't get my cabin recirculation to stay on, it always reverts to fresh circulation. I want the recirculation to stay on.
I think it’s probably just to due to the way the heat thing works. But you can override manually if you like 👍🏼
@@npoleary Not remotely you can't.
Why does the recirculate button automatically switch off after a certain time period? This drives me crazy.
Thanks for sharing your experience, do you have A/C on?
@npoleary yes has Aircon on and does clear the screen but it's fiddly to do what I want if you know what I mean. 👍
Mine takes forever😢
Turkish subtitles please,Nick😊

Yes its the right shade, unfortunately it gets stuck and doesn't open, had to change it and its not cheap. I believe mercedes have to think over for next generations
still find it strange why on most MB cars they do not have heated steering wheel, many other brands, inc lower spec have this !!! I have a 2024 EQB Premium Plus AMG - NO heated Steering Wheel
It just depends on the country, some counties they do have them in Europe where as it hasn’t been that common here.
But after I bought my car, they introduced it I noticed onto one of the packages (assuming it’s still there)
It does get mighty cold here!
Last summer I was on the trip from London to Sofia with my GLE but the climate control is not working adequately for such a brand like Mercedes 😢
Nick really appreciate your videos but the climate control is from absolute shame
I would give anything for 9° at the moment, would you be happy to swap for a day? I’ll take the 9°, and you can take the 38° just for a day.
38°C? Yeah sure I’ll swap, but you’re in Aus if I remember @snuggles03?
That place is full of spiders! 🕷️ 🕷️
😅
Only if there’s A/C though to cool down!
@
I think Mercedes should have heated steering wheel and heated front window as standard in my opinion as they are a luxury brand.
It depends what you need from the car
Comfort is everything you’d expect, smooth gear changing and most of the power from the engine.
No Mercedes for me
This Ytuber knows his Merc.
Awh thanks! 🙏🙏🙏
Haha is that the holding of the start / stop button? I’ve seen that before 😅
@npoleary yeah that too, but I'm talking about using- inserting the electronic key directly into the key hole to start the car (before the push button became widely used).
Ah yeah I know what you mean 👊🏼
I’ve seen that before haha
