Well said. I've been watching this since I first saw it on VHS in 1994 and it still can't be beat. No other battle routine has ever been so ruthless. Not even the Klamz of Death routine used against the X-men.
2:41-2:59 Q is doing some next level shit. Cutting over the beat, then drumming and mixing on beat all at the same time. This was 94, let that sink in!!!!
Well he has ear monitors which allow him to stay on beat. Nonetheless, it was extremely well executed. Every time I've heard that "Cause this is the beat y'all of the year@", my mind flashes to this routine.
I think I read a brief article on this in a rap magazine (might have been Word Up) and it said this team was from another planet, that no one else came even close.
If you watch the recording of the event, you realise how far ahead of the competition these guys were, it was like they'd beamed in from another planet, they were miles ahead of the nearest competition
i remember Q-Bert introduce Flare scratch from this year.also he lets me listen this routine(Cassette Tape) in hotel room before a day of battle.Back in the day!!how amazing
I could watch this for the next 27 years and still not comprehend the level of skill needed. Nobody else comes close. Real Turntablism, none of todays scratch DJ's can copy even with the help of software and buttons.
One of my favorite routines ever!!! This was so ahead of its time it's not even funny... Q & Mike were always pushing the limit.. It was always so hard to compete against them cause once you finally figured out what they were doing & learned to do it yourself they'd be on some other level shit a year later. Simply amazing & impossible to fuck wit... This played a huge roll in ISP not being able to compete anymore after this.. They were seriously that great & still great to this day. I believe Q-Bert lives on another planet as king of the scratch along with the rest of the ISP crew. Love these dudes & so happy to have had the privilege of meeting them many times through out the years. Real down to earth & always willing to share the knowledge. ISP forever!!!
I watched this video back in 1995, when I first got my turntables and it was the only thing we practiced. But even now it still feels fresh and modern in this digital age. It's really hard to describe what it was like hearing this for the first time to non-dj's. I guess it would be similar to hearing Eddie Van Halen's Eruption the first time and how it changes your whole world on guitar playing.
That was an urban myth, created by the guys themselves, about being banned. Of course DMC would've let them go for a third title, just like Craze did in 2000.
It wasnt an urban myth, just not rewarding for them when there was little challenge tbh. Mike was def weaker, but had some strengths. Q was simply untouchable then and so far advanced its easy to understand how he'd rather challenge himself more, than challenge others. Q actually had some of the laziest battle routines ever when you think how insanely good he was. Also, it was an age where people didnt share tricks or even records, and he kinda squashed all that and told people everything, so the artform would advance. Kicking ass gets boring quick when u can teach others, and they in turn push u further
I witnessed q Bert breaking thro along with Mike on the world scene, theses guys gave me the focus to scratch, I still do to this day.. 28 years later. I much prefer the skill level from analogue music to digital, its far more entertaining and more connected to what your actually hearing.
ATF DMC Video. These two Elevated to Judges, and asked not to compete... after this Slaughterhouse. Still watching, 22 years later. Timeless performance. All elements of extreme DJing present, in under 7 minutes.
Soon.. this routine will be 30 YEARS Young! Still, THE BEST DISPLAY of total skills I've ever witnessed to date. Bought this DMC Champion performance on VHS, which was mailed to my house, in 1993. Facts. "You LOSE"!
DJ GaFFLe Nah I would've thought the same but if you've scene the 92 dmc before this and this there was quite a few dj's on to the concept of a dj band. Personally its the battles between 89 to 93 that showed the most originality. From 93 to 96 was the last of the creative dj's.Since then not a single thing has changed.
Are you serious? So you're saying the Allies and Scratch Perverts didn't create anything new, between '97 and '01? Those two crews created so many new styles, and deserve to be regarded as highly as the Piklz, X-Men and Beat Junkies.
This is one of the sickest endings in Turntable DJ Battle history When they come back faster than ever at the end of the routine then end dissing the rest of the world with Street Fighter oh lord... and they redefined what you could do in a Battle and what could be done on the turntables this and the previous year were pivitol in turntablism.
I had most the dmc battles on vhs from 88-2000 best times ever would watch these religiously like kung fu flicks then go sneak into my brothers room and tare that shit up doing all this 💯 the good old days especially after school
absolutely the best dj's ..correct me if I'm wrong but weren't told they weren't allowed to complete one year cos they were so good and could only do a demo set
Makes me happy that they recorded this but sad at the same time, because the height of scratching was in the late 70s and early 80s before rap was on the radio. And this is when most experimentation was taking place in different parts of the country as kids went home and started scratching on their parents record collections. Plus this is when DJ crews were popping up to do dance parties in basements, parks and playgrounds, including some with multiple turntables and DJs all at once. But most of that was not recorded.
What up DJ's QBert, & Mixmaster Mike, amazing session guys!... Never know what kinda of awesomeness your gonna get for a treat, when these 2 Skratch Godz are tearing up the vinyl live n' direct!......Wicked Respex, Big Upz, & Mad Love to all the dedicated, devoted, & passionate DJ's worldwide......🔥💯👍💪🙏🎶🌎
Not really . They originated a lot of the shit others did later - pretty fucken tight - context is everything - if your originating patterns and styles others follow for decades it -would shit on everything else that followed afterwards anyway - funny thing is- it isn’t messy - so your comment is doubly illogical
@@djflarethecreator9261 thanks man, you deserve credit for what you came up with, seeing as every scratcher in the world does it. I'm subbed to you, so hope to see you on the cut soon. Thanks.
I'll fuckin tell you what man, now that I have a deck and a mixer to practice on, I have soooooo much more appreciation for this shit, this kind of turntable manipulation is tricky as fuck!
Just kids at the time Qbert actually looks young here. He always looks the same for at least the last 15 years. Mike looks yound and much different these days. I cant believe they been a long for ever.
Yeah it will never be beaten this set.. MMM was totally switched on , Q .. always sharp. Red alerts face as the set finished was like. WTF… seriously… completely different level
Rawest display of turntable skillz and mixer abuse in the history of planet Earth. Love these two dudes!!
Well said. I've been watching this since I first saw it on VHS in 1994 and it still can't be beat.

Before the digital invasion
better quality ...before quantity! ...only to be the fastest , can be worst.
I miss these days..this is 1000x better than the pre programmed serato button pushing digital turntablism of today.
Nice try qbert
it aint the 90s anymore dawg cope
@@inamenu4745 yeah I'm aware that shit is wack now. Thanks though.
It takes more talent but doesn't sound as good sorry. But also QBert has had better sets than this
prety soon wew will be scratching on holograms
2:41-2:59 Q is doing some next level shit. Cutting over the beat, then drumming and mixing on beat all at the same time. This was 94, let that sink in!!!!
Absolutely!!!! Insane 🔥🔥🔥

It's what GOATs do.
Ahead of his time for sure with that ... Ask a Dj to do that shit today
I never get tired of watching this, over 20plus years and it's still one of my favorite videos.. Learned how to drum from this vid
Majesty Williams it’s one of my faves too.
Super dope backsliding shit .
27 years later , still untouchable!!!
If you watch the recording of the event, you realise how far ahead of the competition these guys were, it was like they'd beamed in from another planet, they were miles ahead of the nearest competition
facts
I still come back to this. I'll listen to their battles in '95 and as good as they are I always know this set serves as the gold standard.
28 years later. I swear qbert hasn't ages much.

3 decades later. Still flawless.
This is insane for 93. Way ahead of its time

same , I think my mom threw away my vhs one day and I just realized it . FUCK
Qbert, one of the BEST. Thanks for your mixing. It rescue my day end more ❤
The beauty of this was they where all over the place and didn’t give a fuck. Driven by pure spirit of the craft.
This had to be the BiGGesT landslide victory in the history of DMC...

While q and mix master was the most technical, ethnik alliance was the most musical and imo they probably should've one but that's my two cents
lol69_ omg no... blasphemy!
wow turntablism has come a long way, but I prefer this type of raw shit...
The equipment got better but the skill level regressed.
the best of the best DMC video was my video bible... I remember rewatching this routine wayyyy to many times ISP!!!!!
THE BEST DJ SET SINCE 30 YEARS!!!! Take a look dear teens ....thats is the perfection of turntableing
I had this on VHS! Oh man, love those cats, the best of the best!!
The day Qbert invented a new type of scratch and cut👍
This is the first video of QBert I ever saw, about a thousand years ago.
arguably one of, if not THEE best DMC performances ever.
This "Q-Bert" character, and Mixmaster Michael should really keep doing this. They are very talented. I hope they have stuck with it.
lmao nice one
Oh they have my friend. Check out their new 2018 stuff.
mix master mike is now the DJ for the Beastie Boys and Q bert is still the DJ GOD. till this very day
I never realized how theatrical qbert can be. Theyre having such a fun time! Such a great performance!
Gotta love them calling their shot with the Street Fighter 2 "You lose!" sample and the sound of the body hitting the ground lol.
the two best scratch djs side by side killing it from second 1 of this video.
Out of all the Dmc battle that were made this is still on
top of my llist.
These guys took turntablelis to another level.
Best Djs show ever !!!!!!! 1993
Q & mike killed it ....my fav set to this day!!!!
Just brilliant, raw talent, now 27 years ago! A still the best there is.

Back when Ministry of Sound actually meant something.
I totally agree 👍

What a nightmare for competitors 30 years ago!!
Absolute catastrophe for the competition… landslide victory for the Dream Team.
The best trio djs of all time.....proudly pinoy....😢😢😢
17 years later and I still watch it like it’s my first time 🔥

Mix master mike is a freak of nature
Imagine you had to go on after this. I would just quit...loll
this my absolute favourite
Pre laptops, pure music.
Never gets old 28/4/24
absolute insanity
This contest was over 2 minutes into this set.
Haven’t seen this for absolutely years. My god it’s messy lol but still sick
Definitly not messy, it's raw. There may be some bits slightly off time, but this was tight and must have taken ages to plan.
Compared to what Ned hoddings did 10 yrs later. Yes, this is messy. Still miles ahead of everyone at the time tho.

I like just how in the zone Qbert was at the end
I LEARNED HOW TO FLARE WATCHIN THIS VIDEO IN 95...
These two magnificent guys were probably just free styling! Good! Times!

That last breakbeat .. i love that .. simple but GOOD!
anyone know by any chance the title of it?
Love that old school beat.
Dear Q Bert AGE DAMN YOU!!!!
they pressed their own vinyls and used em during competitions. they used cheat codes 😂 thats dope
I Love Mikes Style. Crazy Scratcher And Dope Ass Music Producer.

Back in the day you were cool if you had 1200's Technics and a Vestax battle mixer. Lets not forget the sony headphones
I had to make do with 1210 mk2s and a Gemini trickmaster... good times
Bionic Booger Breaks!
Just kids at the time Qbert actually looks young here. He always looks the same for at least the last 15 years. Mike looks yound and much different these days. I cant believe they been a long for ever.
The climax should have been faster, only my entire face melted.
I wish team routines would go back to this  this is far more fun than todays stuff. Nowadays everything is far too regimented. :)
Best djs ever
