I did the same thing but instead of metal washers and a Dicor Cap sealant, I used rubber washers. It was easier and faster to complete the job. No cracks in 3 years of owning my current RV.

I used rubber washers and bolts with lock nuts when I 1st bought my trailer and have never had a crack or had a bolt fall out.

I did the same thing with small stainless steel bolts and lock nuts On my Keystone avalanche. I do think I need to back it up with a washer though like these guys are doing. That way there's no dimple from the pressure of the screwhead. Those factory installed self tapping screws will still vibrate out over time.

I will be changing mine on my reflection303rls soon. I was considering lightly scuffing the back and adding a layer of Fibreglass to strengthen the complete fender in addition to the washers. Just wondering your opinion, thanks

Darren, just make sure the the residence don’t cause damage to the fender. There is lots of different way to get the outcome the same. This was just one of the many ways we have done it and I was trying to make it easy for owners.

What size of washers and screws did you use?

1/4” flat washer. Depending on the surface and location, it it’s on the side wall of a slideout 5/8”-3/4” and if it’s at the floor line 1” to 1-1/4”
