Henny, As always a great video. I just came across the Shure MV7 after researching the MV88 for use with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. How well will the MV7 work with the iPhone 12 Pro Max? are there any compatibility issue that you may know of? What kind of cables would I need? Thank you for all you do, your videos have been a big help. Keep up the great work.
i just got this mic , such a good sound to it same with the vocal making and audio production. same with the application that comes with , get this mic you can do pretty much anything on it
I’m a bit confused. I’m listening at min 10':30" (Apogee compres +1) and I’m comparing the audio in this video to your other video dedicated to Apogee at min 8':55" (compress +1 as well). I expected the same result, but the two sounds are very different.
I don’t like to talk about using a product in ways I’m not proficient at 🤷🏽♂️. Singing was never my strong suit. But.. I do believe it will work well in that record now that I’ve tested it with against the SM7B
Mics like this are niche. they are better suited for what they are intended for.... not to you can't or can. but live with the results either way if and when you do use it for that...
Depends on flexibility. If you want a more mobile, professional sounding mic, go HypeMic. It you want that traditional desk mic with broadcast quality, go MV7
Thank you for the great video. I have the Mv7 and have been using it on my Mac through usb to this point. I'm trying to use it on my iPad Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. But now know that the mv7 is not compatible with any iOS device using usb-C power, according to Shure compatibility page. But you CAN with the iPhone since it uses lightning. I'll be ordering a dongle so I can use the mv7 directly into my iPhone. Hopefully it works. Do you have any experience with iPhones and this mic? Cool channel. I'll be watching more of your stuff Thanks!
Thank you for that review. I just heard that the MV7 was not compatible with the iPad Pro. Do you have any solution to be able to use it with the iPad Pro ?
When you compared all the mics you didn’t seem to have the same proximity for each, and as you know the proximity effect plays a big part in the sound.

Thanks for the video Henry. I'm teaching music online and would love to get your opinion on an usb microphone that can work well. It's for drumset lessons, so I definitely need to hear myself through a headphone output with no latency and it's own volume control. I don't know which audio setting is best for drum set .... cardiod, omni, stereo or bidirectional. The setting also has to work for communicating with the student in between playing. There are so many options to choose from and at varying costs. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Do XLR connection with audio interface increase the volume of sure mv7. please reply, I am going to buy evo 4 Audio interface only just so I can increase the volume of the mic will it works? Will I get more volume with xlr as compare to USB or they will be same? Please reply I love ur viedos

Could u do a most detailed VS wit the hypemic and mv7?!? There’s none out and that would be a awesome VS! My main purpose would be to light game streaming but mainly recoding hip hop! I see you can use their software to adjust the monitor mix, is that available on iOS as well? I would love to see a USB Mic with a headphone mix knob directly on it. I love the versatility that software can bring to hardware but in my opinion, having a simple monitor mix knob would be a game changer. Especially for iOS.
When using quality headphones, this is what I hear: Shure SM7B: With no post processing and at the same audio level you’re using, it’s far smoother than the Shure MV7. Apogee HypeMiC: You have the gain lower. In any case, it’s clearer. This mic, however, does not play well with mouth sounds! Shure MV7: It’s tone is simply not as clear and, in my opinion, is grainy. MY OPINION For a $249 price point, I get it. In the end, and although it might look similar to the SM7B (marketing), it’s not a Shure SM7B and produces subpar audio.
Just to let you know it won’t work on the iPad Pro. Hopefully they’ll do a firmware update or something but when they sent me mine to review they specifically said it won’t work although it worked with my iPad Air but not Pro. It’s not a big deal to me because I’m in radio anyway but this is my remote and on the road mic for sure. I use one of my spare SM7 pop filters on my MV7 and it is the greatest sound ever for me.
That’s not entirely correct. I used mine with music apps like AudioShare and it worked just fine. The Shure app needs to be updated, but working with audio apps like AudioShare, AUM, BeatMaker3, etc., mine worked flawlessly.
👍🏽 maybe it’s the software that it’s working (or they already updated it because I had it before it shipped and that’s what I was told- and at the time it shipped it was still stated on the site) but that’s cool 😎
Thanks @HennyThaBizness for the great video and @ANewk for the info. I'm about to buy an MV7 to use it with my iPad Air 4th Gen. Read all specs/comments but still confused. Anybody knows whether it'll work?

Blue is actual garbage. Sell it and Pick up a Rode NT-1 and never look back. If you need noise rejection, get a dynamic like the Behringer XM-8500 for 20 bucks.
Shure MV7: great for podcasting, gaming, TH-cam content, etc HypeMic: great for all the above plus vocals, guitar, music production etc Hope that helps
I just got the mv88+ a week ago, and honestly from the demos in this video think it was a great choice for me ... I didn't like the mv7 at all from this, it just seems like a lower-fidelity SM7B (and for recording singer-songwriter stuff, it's really nice to have the different patterns and options the mv88+ gives you, especially directly into the phone). The HypeMic was surprising though, it sounds ridiculously clear! Thanks for the comparisons!
Definitely want to hear a comparison in musical setting between it and the apogee....singing,sax(horns in general.) My saxes are looking for a new mobile companion.
On your suggestion I bought the original MV88. But it’s never been reliable. I’ve recorded a few times and got crackling all the way through. This new one does seem a good desktop option but I’m using the comica USB mic and it’s still going strong.
Yeah the biggest complaint I had with the mv88 is that to do proper audio recording without hiss and crackle you have to turn the phone to airplane mode. One of the reasons the mv88+ is not connected directly to the phone itself.

I've been looking into this mic for some time now but your video made me set on getting the Shure mv7. Nice video, thanks!
Is this the best mic for recording vocals? Via iPhone that is. Or is the Apogee still better for that?
