    Good information Ben.
I really like the oil system modifications.
Installing the rear oil gallery transfer plug upside down is a definite win.
The oil transfer tube is good tech also.
Great information on all points, people need to listen to this video.
    Thank you for sharing.
    Have a great week Ben.
    Take care, Ed.

Professor Alemeda! I enjoy hearing your years of knowledge in drag racing and engine building. Little tweaks here and there that increase power along with reliability.
I remember I would stop by your shop when you were located on San Fernando Rd. You had Chino Ray working at the shop.
A couple of times I'd see you at Irwindale.
    I really appreciate your videos.
    Always learn something new.

Thanks for the video Ben. Great format for listening in the shed whilst working. I pulled my 357ci Cleveland down a couple of weeks back, was tired after 15,000kms. It had a 50 thou compressed gasket and 36 down the hole. All carboned up. 10 :1 static comp. Bad set up, rattled with 24 deg total timing. Going to a 4 inch stroke motor. Thanks for your advice. Tim Australia 🇦🇺

    • @benalamedaracing2765
      @benalamedaracing2765  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Yes sir that 4 inch stroke going to wake up that devil sir! lol
Set the deck at zero and bring down the gasket compressed clearance and I bet it would not rattle at all! When it is that wide there is a tremendous amount of carbon build up and it is trouble big time.

Ben you are on the mark, as usual.. Back in the Grumpy Jenkins days, the 327 was all the talk. So I yanked out my LT1 350 and replaced it with a well built 327. I soon realized the 350 was the better power maker.. And all new cars today are using 10 to 1 or more compression, which proves your point to run lots of compression

Thank you Shane! I try to put in tidbits of my experience like my comment here about the "recipe man" trying to one up my efforts and others. Usually ending up worse for those involved. Bottom line is you cannot make stuff up if that person does not race on a competitive level where you can measure up how poor or well your stuff is doing. There are many good engine guys out there and their work does not have to be claimed because their performance speak for themselves...

As I watched your channel before and during my build up of my ho motor, sbe with Promaxx project x 185 heads, almost,600 lift, I had trouble finding head gaskets. Like you said, most were.100 over sized. I wanted the thinnest ones closest to 4” I could find, settled with 4.030 at.041 installed thickness. I used a die grinder with a 2” flap disc to relieve the intake pocket in the piston for some extra valve relief, and unshrouding. When I first fired it up me and the kiddo we’re pumped. Hood eyes got big cause it had the same cam in it that it had before, but it sounded way more crisp with some added compression! Now it sounds pretty nasty! Thanks for the videos! 💪

It depends and for me I run the longest rod possible to fit inside the block and if it needs one ring with an oil control ring 2mm or thereabouts I will work with the compression height. Another is for what use because boosted/nitous requires a bit of piston crown to make it survive the conditions. It is more a concern on boosted and nitrous and NA I get kind of narrow. Best to speak to your piston maker because they will be the ones who will make them. Good luck.

@@vrm86gt you are smart and with good observing traits and much success to you in the future! Again enjoyed your channel for real world fixes and issues reminding me of how I was back in the day. In fact people use to laugh when they saw my vacuum gauge beside my tach not knowing why for them! lol

We all swap stuff around and everyone loves the 9 inch ford! Anyway it is all similar now like the LS from crank to the engine layout similar to Fords and the latest iteration on the LS/LT they swap the intake to exhaust location and now I cannot even tell if a piston is for an LS or a Ford. They are all good!
