    I’ve tried the washers and different screw heads, always resort to filling breech screw hole w warmed up wax, sculpted w small wood dowel.

      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I installed the same type of Torx head breech screw from eBay on my 362. I used one or two washers from Gravmag under it and that solved the feeding issues I was having with the Crosman steel breech. I’ll try the same fix on my Drifter to see if that works.

      @@airgunsofalaska glad to hear you got it to work! Maybe I’ll give the washers and torx head another go, it would make tear down/reassembly a lot quicker.

      You can get the washers that is made for that tiny screw that goes in the breach so it would level out the chamber so the pellet doesn’t catch and nick the pellet and cause it to shoot funny I ordered mine from the the UK and they took a month to get here in the US

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcnissen578 the Gravmag kit comes with extra tiny washers. So far I’ve found I’ve only needed one washer under the breech screw on two different guns with steel breeches.

    Good review. After watching this I might go with the steel breech; that dovetail being off by 1mm … plus the steel breech is cheaper.

      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d recommend going with the Crosman steel breech as it fits perfectly and installs easily with all the mounting holes lining up properly.

    I bought a metal breech from crosman & can hardly load pellets. Is the aluminum breech better?

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, they are both the same in that regard. I’ve had numerous guys write me that have used candle wax, Elmers glue or hot glue to cover the breech screw to smooth out the feeding of pellets. You can also use really thin washers under the head of that screw to raise it up a slight amount to reduce the depth of that hole.

    I just got my crossman drifter put together. I can’t tell if mines not made right or not but my shoulder stock slightly wiggles back and forth not firmly clicking in snug once I install it. Does yours click in and stay snug?

      Sorry about the late reply, YT didn’t give me a notification. Mine wiggled too, I then used an older style stock with the grip screws.

    Wont this breach get damaged if i screw on scope mounts made of steel?

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it’s got dove tails and is designed for regular weaver mounts. A Colt AR-15 has an aluminum receiver and it accepts all kinds of accessories. You won’t damage this breech.

      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jakelol1980 no, I didn’t notice that the gun was lighter. I know it was a bit lighter but it’s not like it made a night and day difference. The main reason I got it was I wanted the option to mount a scope.
      I also have Crosman steel breeches on other guns and I’d recommend one of those over this one as they are compatible with a Grav-mag. This aluminum one is not.

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว

      I want to say that’s the stock Drifter rear sight and that it mounts right on the Baker aluminum breech. But part of me thinks Baker sells modified the stock rear sights that fit on his breech. I ordered that stuff last fall and don’t remember all the details. They likely have it all listed on his website. The stock rear sight won’t mount to the Crosman steel breech. Maybe it was the vendor I ordered my first steel breech through that also sold a modified stock rear sight that fit on the Crosman steel breech?

    Love my drifter!
    Do you have to request at Baker for the aluminum breech? They're always out when I look.
    I've had mine since the first of the year, have taken a fox squirrel and a rabbit. Have shot 4 different brand pellets, doesn't show any favoritism!
    All have grouped good!
    Want to try a scope, next.

      Thanks! Last fall I was wanting a steel breech and they were all out of stock so while I was waiting I ordered this aluminum breech that was available on the Baker Airguns website. I checked last night and it looks like these are now out of stock currently.

    Is the wad cutter ammo you used good for PCP?

    • @airgunsofalaska
      @airgunsofalaska  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see why not? Wadcutters work really well for shooting paper targets as they punch a nice round hole.
      Since creating this channel I’ve learned that a guy should experiment with lots of different pellets to find the best accuracy. I was surprised to see how much difference there was in types and brands of pellets.

    Hey how are ya? I have a 2289 I’ve have it for many years. I modified it extensively. I was able to get 706 fps with 12 pumps with crosman premiers. Was super loud without a loc out front. I just bought a crosman 362 a couple weeks ago and am gonna go through it and see what I can do with it. Crosman went to a flat top piston so that is nice. Hoping to reach 740 with crosman premiers. Thanks for sharing.

      I’ve been wanting a 1322 with a longer barrel since I saw the Backpacker years ago. When I saw they came out with the Drifter I didn’t hesitate and ordered one right away. I’m not overly fond of the fake carbon fiber finish but I like the gun. I’ve not gotten into modifying any of the internal pump parts at this point.

    • @heyyoubuddy6749
      @heyyoubuddy6749 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@airgunsofalaska I’ve never had a 1322, but loved the 2289, I used it to dispatch ground squirrels around a private school and church. The fleas where a real problem for the kids. It was quiet, compact, and accurate. We set traps for the squirrels but fish and game tagged our traps saying we couldn’t trap them. So out came the backpacker. It was an amazing tool!! I even shot a crow at 50 yards hitting him in the head, dropped like a rock not a flutter.
      I increased the volume of the chamber by drilling the white Teflon intake valve back side. Steel breach, ported transfer port, extended bolt probe to push the pellet past the transfer port. I turned down the cone on front of the valve to match the pump cup, and pinned the intake valve to take up dead space in the intake valve transfer port.( increase pump efficiency due to reduction of lost dead space between the face of pump cup and face of intake valve). I also drilled a trapped the little hole for the screw in the loading port to a slightly larger size for strength. Melted a crayon the smooth out the screw in loading port. Made a homemade ldc to catch lead dust. I crowned the muzzle and smoothed out the loading lip of the barrel so wouldn’t catch the pellet when loading. I used a piece of Teflon tube for the transfer port seal. Heat ends slightly then install while Pliable. These are the mods I will do to the 362 to see what it will do. I love working with Crosman pellet guns. I used a Crosman 140 as a kid to help a walnut orchard owner decrease the squirrels and a crosman 766 to decrease the starlings and black birds in his cherry orchards. 5th and 6 grades where fun years as a hunter. Take care and keep shooting.

      Thanks! I was feeling artistically creative today and had fun making the video 😀. Yes, it’s an aluminum breech so it should be a little bit lighter than the steel Crosman breech. I didn’t realize it had so many minor but significant differences.
      These three past winters we’ve been getting our normal snowfalls. From ‘14-‘19 we had a series of low snow winters that were a lot different from what I’m used to. Today was nice for shooting, no wind and warm temps at around 30°F.
