When pushing the bolt forward to push the pellet in, it doesn’t feel like it’s locking in as tightly as when it was a .22 pellet. Nothing seems like it’s shaking around, but it just doesn’t feel as locked down like before. It’s a little hard to explain. Sorry if I’m not making any sense. Should I have ordered an extended .177 probe? The conversion seemed like it went well at first, but the next day I was having a lot of issues. I researched some of the other problems, but no one seems to have had an issue with the bolt probe at all. I’d like to order all the parts I might need before I break down the rifle again to fix all the issues I’m having.

@@OceanTruth it sounds like you need the longer probe for .177 cal. The breech works for both calibers. I ordered my longer probe from some vendor on Amazon, there are likely plenty to choose from. That said, the bolt handle was always a bit loose on my .177 Maximus, that’s just the way it came from the factory. The handle itself would bounce on each shot and just didn’t lock down tight. On advice from a viewer who experienced the same problem, I used a center punch to make a divot right at the corner of the slot the bolt handle slid into. That made the friction fit a bit tighter and solved my problem. If you are using the .22 cal probe I suspect things are definitely not lining up properly.

I think everybody is "jumping the air gun" so to speak with regards to Daisy buying and shutting down Crosman. Common sense tells me that Daisy Outdoors is smart enough to realize Crosman had a few great selling low cost air guns and would most likely keep those guns in production. Crosman made many different model air guns from the low price entry level pnuematics to the high end big dollar PCP competition and hunting rifles...actually too many IMHO. Many of Crosman guns were basically the same models with different toys and stocks hanging off them. From a business standpoint it would be smart for Daisy to weed out the "repeat" models to focus on the ones that sell the most. Perhaps Daisy is shutting down production in NY to move it all to the Arkansas plant...time will tell. I have heard that is what the plan is but we all will have to wait and see. I did send Daisy Outdoor an E-mail to express my frustration with them closing and laying off all the people in Bloomfield NY plant. Their response was "We are sorry you feel that way" and "We hope you will continue to buy Daisy Outdoor Products"... and that was the end of it. So now we wait. I would sit and shoot most the day. I've seriously thought about building a small shed to shoot out of. Have a window to shoot out of year round. Little window unit for the 100 degree days in July and August. A small heater for the below 30 degree days. About Daisy buying Crosman, I really couldn't see them keeping the New York plant open. They mostly did some assembly there even when they had a few "Made in USA" Break barrels there was just enough USA made parts to legally call it made in USA. I think most the Crosman 1300 and 2400 series was the same way. I ordered my Custom Shop 1300 as soon as I heard they sold. Still need to do more video's on that sweet shooting gun. So they are laying off in waves between now and the first part of 2025. They gave the exact times and numbers. As with most buyouts they tend to drop models that don't sell well and keep those that do. I'm afraid there's not enough market for the custom shop guns, but maybe they will keep them going at the Daisy plant in Arkansas. Daisy still makes some of it's BB guns there. I figure the 760 will still be made, but the other model is direct competition to the 880. Will be interesting to see what happens to the PCP line. The Benjamin Bulldog and Marauder along with a few other PCP's that really kept the company going before the PCP market got so competitive with all the decent low cost China and Turkey made pcp's. The lower end Crosman break barrels were made in China, even the Benjamin Trail, Trail XL and the latter models were made in China. I doubt any of those had enough sales to keep them going, but the investment company has to make something off the buyout. They could market some new BSA version break barrels under the Benjamin name. The Crosman 362 pump up is all that's left of the Benjamin/Sheridan legacy. The worse part is Crosman sold parts for all there guns which meant a lot to Crosman owners and I'm afraid that will all be History. Who knows, Maybe they will just operate out of the Daisy plant and keep Crosman going. If they do get plastic breech block models I can't see them coming from China when Gamo can build 100.00 break barrels with the plastic breech blocks. The road that leads to where I shoot had about zero traffic on it. Now there's cars about every 10 minutes. It was a small news article about Crosman closing the plant in New York and the layoffs. If I find it again I'll get a link. It showed up on my news feed about a week or so ago. Nibs is a great guy. He likes to shoot .22 rimfire which gets hard to find a place to shoot that's safe anymore. He seems to enjoy his range time like I do my field time.

@@charlesoutdoors2424 Where I’m at in Alaska our town population has actually been declining slowly, so has the state population. I’m in a rural area so it’s really easy to shoot but I don’t tend to ever shoot outside of my yard. Up here most of the big swaths of land are owned by city, state or federal government so you can wander around where you please. Of course there aren’t a whole lot of roads or trails and rivers and mountains limit accessibility to a huge extent. I was watching one of Nib’s videos this morning and he’s doing a video with airguns at a gun range and gun fire was going on nearby. He definitely has more patience than me, I wouldn’t find that to be at all enjoyable.

@@airgunsofalaska I dreamed of moving to Alaska in my younger days. So many people flocking to Texas I didn't move far enough away from Dallas and it's suburbs. Was perfect 30-35 years ago. We have some government land, but hunting only, no target shooting. Some restricted to only archery and shotgun with birdshot. That's the worst part about gun ranges in the US when you go there to shoot air rifles and do a video in sounds like a war zone. Of course there's only one small pistol range near me I can go to, but it's hard to get 20 yards there.

@@charlesoutdoors2424 We’ve got a public shooting range I dislike going to. Around 10 years ago (last time I went) I had my wife and kids and was going to show my wife how to shoot her new handgun. We were no sooner getting out of the truck when this redneck weirdo sped into the parking lot, jumps out of his beater truck and starts blasting away rapid fire with a Mini-14 or maybe is was an SKS with an aftermarket extended magazine. In any case he seemed agitated and while he didn’t say or do anything to us I didn’t feel comfortable. So we left to go shoot in an old, abandoned gravel pit. In the past 40 years more and more of these remote areas to shoot that are accessible by automobile are getting blocked off so even though I’m surrounded by open space, shooting a firearm in legally sanctioned areas has become a hassle. I’m sure it’s still much easier than the majority of areas in the lower 48 but I’m not that into it and prefer the ease and convenience of shooting airguns in my yard.

Is there an American airgun manufacturer that actually manufactures their products in the US? I’m done supporting companies that move everything to china and sellout American workers

There is a reason vintage air guns are going up in price.

@@motorosso3349 My 80’s and 90’s vintage Daisy 880’s are much nicer guns than the current all plastic turd that comes out of China. I was shocked by how cheap the new 880 felt I bought a couple months ago.
