This video has been incredibly helpful to me. First time I’m using the Blum slides. I really appreciate the way you’ve clarified each of the adjustments.
Thank you for the video. I am building a tall boy with six drawers and wondered if I could use these runners. Ideally I won't have any platforms for the drawers and will just fit the runners to the sides of the cabinet carcass. Do you think that would work? Many thanks.
I think what I did on this one was lay the frontage down flat and position the drawer box accurately on top of it based on measurements then I dominoed right through both in discrete locations to us for lining it up when installing
Do you use 16mm ply for draws? Also for the Blum draw runners how do you work out the right width for the draws just measuring or is there specific calculation to use?
We use 15mm ply. The INNER faces of the draw box sides should be 21 mm from the inner faces of the carcase. There are diagrams in the Blum orange technical manual (you can find pdf online)
I have a question, is the price difference between Movento and Tandem worth it? Going by my local supplier (You couldn't get more local than a 5 min walk), that's a difference of £10 a draw, given I have 20 draws, that's £200, and this is a personal project, so no client covering the cost.
I appreciate the under mount drawer slide , but they need to come with a different type of drawer slide, it can't be soft close in and you have to push the drawer in, the only thing different is when it all most reach inside , it takes a little time to close . One simple touch and the fridge door is closed , same thing should happen for the drawers.
Useful video thanks. I was going to build drawers out of 18mm ply and use some of these, will that work? From the specs it looks like 16mm is the max drawer side thickness, but your drawers look like they are thicker. The cost soon adds up when you have 20 pairs to buy, I guess they are worth it, where do you get yours? Cheers
I get them from Hart wholesale in Essex (sent by courier). I recommend them, very knowledgable with advice. There are cheaper alternatives, I just stick with Blum for reliability.
Hi Alastair - another great video 👍 it seems like a lot of little bits of plastic within the drawer runners. Have you had any issues with them at all? The adjustments on them seems great, which I suppose is where the extra cost comes in. Also - how does the coffee thing work being in dollars? Should it not be in £'s instead? Just wanted to check it was correct before I bought an American / Australian scammer a coffee 😂
Craig Coe I have had one runner that arrived faulty and got replaced but no other issues in use. Yes please give me your money in whatever currency 😆 all the crowdfunding platforms seem to be US based and it’s all listed in dollars, it’s just how it is but the payment system (Stripe or PayPal) will convert it
Glenn Cox my dark secret is that I’ve never been entirely sure... 😂. Except that movento is newer and presumably better... I think there is a bit more adjustment built in, I’ve been meaning to get a tandem set and directly compare but not done so yet!! Also come to think of it I’m pretty sure Movento has more length variations
@@Alastair_Freebird movento is more expensive. But I think you do get more adjustment on them, more than the tandem, hence the price difference. I'm going to buy a per of tandem, and compair the difference. I'll upload a video with my thoughts, an views on it. Then compair it to the movento and tag you in it. Your video has a very thorough description of the movento. Great run through on how they work, and how to install then. Thanks Alastair.
@@Alastair_Freebird when you bought the movento runners. Did they supply the locking device, that sit at the front of the drawer carcase, or do you have to buy that separate?
What made you think that? Tandem is the earlier model, Movento improved on it, though Tandem is still available. Comparison here: instagram.com/stories/highlights/18121479991168587/

Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate it!
Excellent demo on the slide adjustments.
I’m glad it was useful thanks
Another great video Alastair. When you teach, you learn twice 👌🏼
True!
Beautifully explained and shot video. Well done and thank you for posting.
I’m glad you liked it, thanks!
Awesome! Never knew there were so many different adjustments on these Blum slides. Thanks.😊
P F I’m glad it helped!
Another very informative video, thank you Sam
excellent vid-great job on the build
Thanks!
Great video again very helpful.
Hi Alex another great video thanks. Have you ever done a video on fitting said runners in a carcass?
To be honest I’m not sure if I have!
@@Alastair_Freebird Just found this: www.rockler.com/rockler-jigit-undermount-drilling-guide
That’s a nice little jig!
Intalling the tip on add on will give you fron back adjustability on movento runners
Do you mean it adds forward and back position adjustment?
thank you very much!
Thanks really helpful
You're welcome!

Yes definitely they are made for screwing to the sides and don’t actually need to sit on the bottom
Great video! How do you accurately line up your domino locations on your fronts and boxes?

I have an issue with one draw closing then popping open again can you help please ? Thanks
Best talk directly to Blum they have good technical support

Daniel Coates it’s a good question and really I’m sure tandem will do fine!

Sammy Martin a lot of people use 18mm for convenience, just routing the lower section of the sides to 16mm thickness (below the groove)

Freebird Interiors thanks, good idea. Got loads of 18mm left from the cabinets so will save buying more!
Are your draws 16mm ply or have you routed them ?

Coxycarpentry yes I would like to see that comparison 👍

Coxycarpentry I had to order that separately
👍
These are Blum tandem not movento
