I built the Weistec car in the video. It’s setup for max effort stock engine. Running over 22psi with a MAP sensor voltage clamp. Dual Walbro 450’s, 8AN fuel line with return system. It was a turn key 10 second car when I sold it. Amazing build. Did 694whp on a Dynocom Dyno in summer in Maryland. Ran 131mph in the quarter without meth in the summer heat. Alex’s wagon is SO SICK!
@@bigqwertycat yeah I made a few thousand bucks when selling it, but doesn’t really account for all of my labor. I built the car myself and only thing I paid for was a final Dyno tune.

I bought the vrp kit when it first came out and paid the $1000 core charge. The fitment was not the best and had to do several modifications to make it "work" ended up selling the kit and going with the weistec. Best move i made. I love the wesitec kit
These are 2 very different kits, the Kit on alexs car is the out of the box base package for the VRP whipple. 105tb and smaller pulleys/stacked crank pulleys are upgrade options that we offer.
It would be cool to see IATs and power numbers at the same boost levels. I think the bigger intercooler helps the weistec kit at big boy boost levels. That is my old Weistec car and it was running over 22-23 psi with a big fuel system and a very fat/safe tune and still went 133mph in the 1/4mile on a hot July night
Does the VRP kit have an upgraded intercooler option similar to the Weistec model? While I find the VRP kit more aesthetically appealing, getting an upgraded intercooler is a very appealing selling point...
From my experience the stock charge cooler is inadequate even in stock form, the entire system actually, do a few back to back runs on any stock M113K car and it’ll go into limp mode from high IAT’s, the VRP kit is very nice and modular in that you can add components as you go but retaining the stock charge cooler was a bad idea imo. The Weistec kit is a better design especially in the cooling department but it’s getting old now, I like what VRP is doing but they need to find a solution to using the stock charge cooler, yes they have external coolers that replace the surge tanks but it totally changes the look of the engine, if you’re aiming to keep things looking relatively stock it’s a no go. Either way it’s awesome to see companies still supporting this aging platform and I hope that never changes!
Some guys are converting the stock intercooler to single pass with bigger inlets/outlets and I believe a slightly larger core can be adapted to the stock case as well.
I agree on the stock intetcooler being inadequate but “limp mode from high IATs” on a stock car sounds like something not right. Unless you mean just heat soak by “limp mode”. Can definitely get it to heat soak even in just a warm day.
