I'm guessing that the steel bar stock is 1" X 1/4" X length? I made a set out of aluminum stock with back bracing for a set of heritage saddlebags. Did you use locktite in the bolt holes?
Yes, 1 1/4, you don't need Loctite for the bolts, the brackets are threaded so once you tighten them and put the bolt on them backing up only makes them tighter because of the opposing thread directions. Still gives a bit of wiggle so my last resort is likely get the harley brackets and pay a welder to shape them to fit my bike.
really just depends on how the side fender covers are, I found that they will fit just about any bike. Some have weird angles on the side fenders but for the most part they should work.
If the fender brackets are along the side of the fendor similar to mine it should work, However, they are a bit tall above the bolt hole and I have the backrest so I had to grind the tops down so they would clear/sit in the correct position.
Wad up brother. I finally got mine on...... but..... my bike is lowered and my custom fender sits lower as well . So with everything lower my right side bag is only about 2 - 2.5 inches above the exhaust. Haven't been out for a test ride yet to see if it melts . What do you think, should I be worried????
@@freefree2021 thank you brotha. Trying to do it some justice and having it rolling since it’s been forever since working on them. I’ll dig around for that video you suggested
I got a solution to your bag shimmy if you haven’t found one yet. Im getting ready to do mine since i seen this video of yours. When i get home on my down hitch from work ill be videoing it and tag you on my video.
Might want to add a nice size washer between the bolthead and bag so it spreads the pressure out so it doesn't want to crack the bag. Good vid bud!
Yea, i seen that while putting them back on. I'm still debating installing the liners.
Thank you for posting this, I've been trying to figure out a way to put Harley bags on my vtx and this is a great solution
Appreciate the video, you have the best video explaining the process 👍🏾👍🏾

Where'd you get those brackets? I wonder if those will fit my Suzuki Boulevard C90T?

I have the same bags but using the Harley brackets
I tried that too but they would not flow through the bottom of the bag properly and then none of the holes lined up.
Wondering if this would work for my Vulcan 900?

@@freefree2021 ok I will give it a try
They work on my bike 🙏🏾 came out really nice thanks!!

No worries at all, Jeffs road glide sits about an inch or less from his bags, and no melting. Mine are like 4.5 inches away.
Where can I get those brackets?

Send a link for the bags
@leemathis551 The description has the link at the bottom..
Thanks
Would this apply to 1300 VTX models? Seems like the same setup across but it’s been awhile looking at them
Absolutely, i actually used these very mounts on my 1300, check out my video prepping from sturgis, same bolts and everything.

@@RubiconDONN its the "universal saddlebags" video,
How are the brackets doing long term?
Great so far!
Where can I get the lights?
The clear LED taillight is from Ebay/Amazon and the turn signals are just aftermarket flowing LED turn signals from Ebay.
