I disagree with just sticking with one channel to learn how to cut, I believe watching different barbers methods of cutting will allow you to pick and choose a specific style suited for you.
First for most of the barber that giving you the tutorial not putting his words in a way you understand or interpret it. You won’t be interested in learning from that barber. You gone search and watch all kind of barbers with different techniques. Before you find a specific barber who you like their way off teaching. Then once you find that one you like practice his technique. Once you comfortable learn more techniques and learn what work for you. Cutting fast should be your last decision of cutting. That will come after you gather your technical at it best. The more you cut is how you get better. Then start playing with different techniques and even mix techniques to your liking to move quicker. Like skip guarding, stacking, no glide line, sandwiching fades and down fading.
I’m at a transition working as a material handler into becoming a barber at the age of 27. Out of all the videos, this one got me hooked. Great content!👍🏽
As someone who watched your videos while learning to cut hair to finishing school and becoming a licensed barber all these tips are 100% true. If you wanna take barbering beyond a hobby or side hustle you have to get your license it’s worth ever penny.
You forgot to mention 2 things: Barbicide and Clipper Oil. Essential items that are most always looked over. A few extra items would also be: Curl sponge, hair brush, and clipper brush.
After hopping into different shops for years I finally stick to one shop that's best for me. It comes hand in hand with what you said about just sticking to one channel when learning how to cut hair. Different teachers/barbers has different techniques so when you first starting out it will definitely confuses you when trying it out on a client. Trust me, I learned that the hard way 😂
Great video as always bro! I’m about 6 months into doing some home cuts on friends and family, so this is really helpful and reassuring to know I’m doing the right things to get to where I want to be
even if i am already a barber for more than 20 years but i always watching a videos like this because some how i can pick a lesson or a thing or two watching other barbers.
Marty your my zoom online teacher 🤣 you were the one that made me want to cut hair so I greatly appreciate you I always look forward to watching your videos THANK YOU
He is right u will make it back but when u first start cutting hair in a barbershop u won’t get many customers but slowly over time when ppl start to see ur skill and u advertise urself and put urself out there u will start to gain customers
Really appreciate the tips in this video. The most valued tip for me was the advice about "writing down the steps" while you cut. I imagined myself cutting hair with an iPad paused on some "how to do a fade" video and thought "Naw, that ain't gonna work". Not once did I consider having the steps on Post-It notes? Handy tip. Thank You!!!
Valuable info and details like your cuts. One thing I also learn is never stop learning because if you even stop you will fall behind stop learning say 4 years later, catching up can be overwhelming and maybe even make you think that you don’t need education that when you will go down hill I know because I’ve seen it from the ones I looked up to and now I’m giving them help ( which I’m happy to help) some just quit thinking it was over there is nothing new anymore
Brother.. i started barbering when your channel was at 10k. I think 1 and a half year ago.. anyway my most difficult descision. Is when to stop detailing. In my country i take 5-10 dollars due to crisis. And i think detailing cost the most time for me. I do between 45 min and 1 hour a haircut.
Yes Marty I actually did the notes in the begging but now I still use them and I am a 13 year old barber in Florida and you actually why I started Cuting hair and i watch all you tutorials and they help and the angles are crispy this goat is different love you ❤❤💯💯
I came out of my second year of college studying barbering so I have both qualifications as a barber and started to work at the end of July I mainly cut my friends hairs but I worked in a different shop that was a better fit for me and i was really nervous on cutting hair a client that normally got his haircut from a different barber came to me and said why not it’s only a haircut so I didn’t feak him out by saying I’m not that good I just said Yh I can cut ur hair u have to be confident if not they won’t trust u with their hair. Keep calm and breath don’t show that ur nervous go through the steps ur comfortable with that u learnt and used and use it on their hair I did this and I always cut his hair now and slowly it will grow on u. U will be nervous at time later but ones u begin and get into it it will be the norm for u
Anyone think getting into barbering is too late at 40? I was considering doing it as a second retirement. The barbershops in my area are very old school and don’t even know what I mean when I say I want a fade. Mostly really old guys. Just curious if anyone has done this before?
I'm a 53 year old disabled Marine and I think your age is a plus and just think of all the real life skills you have at 40 you can relate to your customers and never be afraid to follow your dreams. God bless and wish you much luck.
I enjoy your videos and the content you make I’m actually a really big fan of the MartyBlends TH-cam channel I don’t agree with the “stick to one channel to learn to cut hair “ part of the video In fact I believe “sticking” to one channel is limiting yourself to learning. When I started off I watched hundreds of videos from a variety of TH-camrs and I took a little something from everyone I watched and made my own way of cutting hair that is comfortable for me. If you are just starting out don’t limit yourself to one channel or to one person to teach you. You can learn a lot from different people and get different ideas from other channels to add to your own arsenal.
I appreciate what you do but please I have one request for you please I feel like I would learn a lot from you without the cinematic tutorial. Thank you from Morocco
😅I'm watching not cause I wanna be a barber I just cut my own hair and I gotta learn the science behind it because I fucked up my line too manny times and my friend wants to be a barber
You don't really have to go to barber school to become a barber, I know lots of good barber that ain't even know abt school, they started in the garage and remember practice and be patient is all you need, to be honest it is all abt how bad do you want it, I mean believe yourself if you love barbering then you shouldn't really waste no time, just get the job done. once again me personally I don't think that barberschool is the only way to become a good barber🤙🙏

i feel That’s what he saying tho as in find one and which ever one works for you stick to it kinda think
@@dekariots8946 yeah that’s what i got from it too is find what channel suits your style and stick to that channel
