You've definitely gotten more confident with cooking and you clearly know a lot more and most noticeably trying out new things such as different meals and unfamiliar ingredients. This without a doubt shows that you are having fun learning, cooking and eating in the kitchen. I imagine the way you learn might be through cook books and passed on recipes, but I think you are learning mostly by simply playing around with ingredients and enjoying your time in the kitchen. Back when I was younger, I used to have a huge passion for digital art and design. Starting with Paint Shop Pro, moving onto Adobe Photoshop and even getting comfortable with Adobe Illustrator and all this was a hobby for me. I remember that there was a Photoshop video tutorial series that was basically intertwinded with comedic parts and a little storyline that progressed over the series. His mantra was always "The best way to learn is to play". He was so right, because by playing around doing it as a hobby, when it came to college to get a degree for it because I was by that point already pretty good I breezed through the corse with time to continue doing artwork pieces on the side which amazed all of my classmates. I would help them out with anything they may be struggling with attemping a different approach than what the teacher had taught and I even showed my teachers things they didn't know. Went off on a bit of a tangent there but I just wanted to drill into your head that the best way to learn is to play. Don't take it too serious, enjoy yourself and try learning new things you've never done before. Much love Taz :) EDIT: The series I mentioned was "You Suck At Photoshop". Seriously worth a watch if you are into Photoshop but even if you're not, it's a great laugh!
Ive been watching for years and finally got the chance to come to england this year for study abroad. My first Tesco trip, all I could think of was Taz
PRO TIP: Since those beans are cooked with veggies and spices, they're perfect for heating up with the juices in the can instead of straining them. They reduce down and get so tasty.
Hey Taz, a couple of suggestions, put a damp towel, cloth or paper towel under your chopping board to stop it from moving, get a pull through knife sharpener (those knives wont hold an edge for long but a pull through sharpener will at least keep them sharp enough to use) and check up hwo to wrap a buritto using a couple of wraps. Wraps in this country suck compared to the US because there are ver few decent sized ones for buritto's :)
taz you've come so far and i'm so proud of youuu♡ i started watching your channel when i was 14 and now i'm nearly 18 and still get excited to see you've posted every single time:)♡
Feel better soon, Taz. It's awful having a summer cold. In Canada and the States, you'll find dumpling wrappers (sometimes also called dumpling skins) in the fridge near the tofu area. Tuna Mayo - salt really helps enhance the flavour. I would also recommend fresh cracked black pepper. I sometimes like adding in scallions/green onions and/or corn. Add the amount of mayo you feel is right. There's no right or wrong. Spring roll wrappers - Vietnamese restaurants typically give you hot (not boiling) water to soak the wrappers, it helps soften it faster. A super easy meal would be spring rolls (as other viewers have already recommended). The chef's knife - yes, it can get through root vegetables, but a knife like a santoku can probably help you out. There are other sorts of knifes like nakiri or Chinese style cleavers, but the santoku should have you sorted.
Slice the beef as thinly as possible against the grain (I reccomend buying a steak and slicing it yourself) and add a tsp of baking soda to your marinade - it works a treat for super tender beef x
Taz, so many lovely comments for you today🎉🎉. Here’s mine. I came across your channel when i was searching for London videos before moving here 2 tear ago. Tour videos were interesting and gave me a true sense of life in London. So thank you ❤
Taz back in the days you inspired me to mealprep literally. I discovered your channel and next thing you know I was mealprepping, partly because I liked the idea of setting the bar low lol. Now throughout the years I have meal prepped so many times and learned so many things about cooking to the extent that I ended up a cooking freak. Thank you!
I recommend to use raw prawns for the dumplings or maybe to make just the summer rolls with cooked prawns🤗 just chop some veggies and some rice vermicelli, add some sauce (I love it with satay) and voila ✨
I just have to say, it's been such a joy to watch you grow and evolve in your cooking journey. Every time I tune in, I find a sense of comfort and warmth in your videos, it's like catching up with a friend. 😊 It would be amazing if you could explore the flavors of Myanmar cuisine someday! I know you’d bring your unique touch to it, and I’d be so excited to see your reaction. 💌
My fav tuna rice salad: rice mayo tuna canned sweetcorn canned peas gherkins boiled egg salt and pepper cut the egg and gherking in small cubes, similar size to corn pieces. Best thing about it is the long shelf life of the ingredients, something you can easily stock up and whip out whenever you feel like it. Taste is amazing too, trust :)
Hi taz i love you videos so much i brought your book and its helped me so much i suffer with anxiety and depression and your book has helped me with it you are so amazing hope you feel better soon💗💗💗
Hope you feel better soon, Taz. You are beautiful inside and out. You are someone I always look up too. Always excited to watch your new videos. You always make me feel better.
You should definitely try stuff in a slow cooker or just on a low temp in the oven. Your meats will be a lot more tender, and there's not a lot of prep to do, since you just put it all in a pot and leave it to cook for a few hours
pro tip - best way to eat more veg: stir fry or salad kits, just put in the microwave for 2-3 min and once heated up, add dressing. Also Vietnamese summer rolls are also such a great way to eat more veg yet so tasty!
Just a tip, if you want to store the rest of a dish, for example your tuna salad, it's better not to eat out of the big bowl itself, since the enzymes from your saliva make the food go bad quicker in the fridge😊*and you can actually freeze leftover tortillas if you put parchment paper between them and warm them up in the microwave🙂↕️
Hi Taz ,Hope you see this , just wanted you to know that I have been watching you from quite a few years and your videos were always like a therapy to me ,keep making your chill , funky and slightly imperfect videos we love you soo much❤❤
Taz, they sell bigger tortillas meant for burritos! At least they do at the supermarkets near me :D Also, it's easier to fold them if you heat the tortilla up a little bit. You can do this in a pan (with no oil), or just microwave for a few secs!
as a mexican i absolutely hate that specific salsa lmfao but im glad its something that you love of our culture and getting you to try more of our food!! you should try making mexican rice one day!!
The burrito probably didn't taste right because you didn't make Mexican rice, which makes a big difference in flavor and you didn't cover it in burrito sauce on the outside. Burritos generally have larger tortillas so you can wrap the filling properly. And you can always freeze extra tortillas. Just wrap them in plastic wrap in the amounts you will use at one time and then put them all into a freezer baggy, then you can take out what you need to defrost the night before. Dumpling wrappers are simple to make from scratch, especially if you are making a small batch only. Basically like making a small batch of tortillas or a small batch of naan bread. All of which taste so much better than anything you can buy. As long as you have a rolling pin, you are good to go.
For making meat more tender, my tips are : not overcooking, use salt and mirin in your marinade, let marinate all day. The cooking method that makes the softest meat would be in the oven covered, but I've made very tender meat on the stove with the other tips. Chicken will always be more tender than beef and porc though. If you are making a pan dish, you can still cook the meat in the oven and then cut it into pieces and just add it in your pan. Hope this helps!
btw the dumpling wraps are usually in the freezer section, and you can actually get them from asda and most grocery shops! it depends which ones though..
You can tenderise beef by rubbing about 1-2 tsp of bicarb over the meat 2 hours before you use it. Leave it in the fridge covered and then rinse before use. It's called velveting. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon.
The beef marinated in apple you should have went on and cood with the beef it's vitamins, fiber a flavor. I use a bit of baking soda to tenderize tougher cuts of beef
When making pasta salads. I've always put in frozen peas/ sweetcorn a couple minutes before draining the water as they don't take long at all to cook. And it gives an extra texture and an extra veg especially if you're low on fresh vegetables! X
My picks to tenderize meat are honey but it must be real real honey best bought straight from beekeepers which might not be option for everyone (+ it does make your meat sweeter) but my friends told me pineapple juice or minced pineapple also helps and flavours meat really nice too!
Pineapple has an enzyme that essentially breaks down protein. That's why when you eat pineapple you get the fuzzy feeling in your mouth, because the pineapple is basically eating you back.
Also, the beans were preseasoned, so you deffinately shouldn't have drained them (it would be like buying baked beans and draining them of all their sauce) that was probably what was missing from your burrito x
I'd love to see more of this stuff. I'd love to see more types of recipes e.g. travelling across the world from the kitchen or maybe from a type of cook book like the Mediterranean diet or an Anti inflammatory diet.
Loved this video! I’ve been having a really hard time with food since being diagnosed with a gluten allergy 😢 I was really picky with food before and basically only ate toast and like plain pasta and now that I can’t eat my old comfort foods I’ve really been struggling. So definitely love videos like this to get some motivation!!
It's more expensive, but you can get gluten free bread, pasta, etc in most supermarkets nowadays. If they're not available where you live, then you may be able to get some online. I hope that's helpful and good luck with discovering foods you can eat 🥰
@@amandacarlssonn Yeah, I know what you mean (I'm not gluten free, but my brother needed to be when he was younger so I've eaten a lot of both). Homemade stuff can be nicer, if you fancy trying it out. Or you can try different brands, as some are better than others - my brother says that Genius bread is the best gluten free bread he's tried. If you do want to try making your own stuff, here's a few tips: - Dove Farm is a good gluten free flour. - Add xanthum gum to the GF flour as a gluten replacement (this improves the texture). - Anything that needs rolling, do it between two sheets of baking parchment instead of directly on the counter (GF dough is super sticky). - A bread maker is much less faff than making bread by hand, especially for gluten free bread (because of the stickiness issue).
Dear Taz, please don’t use a used spoon in your food if you want to keep it for a couple of days. You’re smearing bacteria all over the food that is left in the bowl which could make it go bad 😅
Hi taz, cool video! I think a cool recipe you could try is making rice paper with what you have left over. It’s quite straight forward and just involves you folding it like a burrito. There’s a couple ways you can make it but the way I tend to make it is with roast pork that I get from my local Asian restaurant and I usually use vermicelli noodles, lettuce, mint (this makes a hell of a difference!) and cucumber. For the sauce, you use Hoisin sauce (it’s pretty strong), peanut butter, add some water and some seasame oil. It tastes really good and it’s pretty easy to make so I definitely recommend! You can also add some chili’s to the sauce or the rice paper :))
Hey I noticed that the chopping board is sliding around a bit on the countertop. To make it more stable and safer, you could place a wet towel or damp cloth undrrneath it. It helps to keep it in place.
You would probably love the way I make tuna. Mayo, celery salt, garlic powder, curry powder, thyme, tarragon, onion powder, mustard, sweet relish, crushed chili, diced celery and sometimes I add chopped hardboiled eggs.
Usually lettuce is not used in a pasta salad. Otherwise looks good 👍 I hope you are feeling better. Iceberg lettuce gets soggy easily and doesn’t hold up well in the fridge if it’s be covered in any type of sauce. Usually in pasta salads the pasta replaces the lettuce. You use other vegetables that hold up well and are more sturdy.
Every pasta salad I have bought from a supermarket pre made. From somewhere to eat etc had iceberg lettuce. I put my lettuce in the bowl first then layer with the different items and can mix them in the bowl
For a more pasta tuna pasta salad take away the lettuce keep adding mayo to the mixture till it’s more of a saucy and add a touch of ketchup adds a nice tang ❤
Taz, if you put a tea towel or even a few slices of kitchen roll, under the cutting board it wont slip, also you might need to sharpen that knife yourself (most come blunt strangely)
Saw a recipe on instagram for an easy (lunch) pesto salad! Just take a bowl some chickpeas, diced cucumber and tomatoes, mozzarella balls and pesto and you’re done. I tried it and I liked it very much, it’s just low effort and quick but nice.
Instead of apples you can use anything sour to help break down the enzymes and making it more tender :) So lemon juice, vinegar, a pinch of baking soda or greek yoghurt work! + You dont have to remove it after
A great way to make your beef for asian style meals less chewy is too let it sit in a mixture of cornstarch, water, soy sauce, salt and pepper. It will change your life
Hay Taz your videos bring me joy there are a lot of easy nutritious recipes that I’d like to share with you one of them brie sandwich recipe : Ciabatta bread or Sourdough , Pesto , Brie cheese slice it up, and drizzle the Olive oil over it ,slice Aubergine and Courgette and grill it , then drizzle Sweet&Chili sauce and Bon appétit. ) you can grill any veggies from your own preference and create new sandwich . ❤
They say if you are craving something like a particular vegetable or fish, it's because that food contains a nutrient your body needs at that moment. Our bodies are very clever!
Cutting carrots is easier if you cut them into pieces about 3 or 4 cm long. Having a sharp knife is essential though. You can sharpen knives so maybe look into that, I can't personally as the sound the sharpening makes gives me anxiety.
1:06 Apples don't contain proteases(enzymes that break down protein). They do contain malic acid though, which might help tenderise meat. Pineapple contains proteases, so they might be a better bet for making more tender meat
Well done Taz for getting the confidence to experiment now 😊😊 you can find the dumpling wraps u wanted usually in the freezers. You can certainly fry rice paper if it was still chewy u maybe needed to fry it longer but am all for the experimenting! Way to go 😊😊
Tbh New York doesn’t have authentic Mexican food either. But it’s like the Indian food you can get in the UK, it’s approaching authentic bc of the immigrants living here
I feel once she started travelling, as everyone should to get a little bit cultured, sbe is becoming more and more skilled. You should try visiting Finland, Sweden, Norway, even Iceland when you can Taz, that might allow you to get your creative juices flowing and contribute to your writing.
Hey Taz, not sure if it's authentic but you should try Korean fire chicken. It's basically chicken thighs cut up and cooked in a homemade buldak sauce.
I just use steak knives for cutting up my veggies. They're pretty small and serrated. That knife looked way too big for a carrot, like something you'd carve a pumpkin with!
Okay so what I want you try might sound a bit weird but I swear on this combo it's like soooooo good and my mouth is watering as I'm typing 😂 So it's simple rice milk and chutney Chutney recipe is simple: 1 medium sized tomato, 5-6 chillies, Coriander and salt as per taste make a paste of those you can even put garlic cloves in the chutney paste it'll taste better. And then you just take some rice pour in milk ( the ratio should be 1:1 ) and then put chutney and that's it. I kid you not but taste soooo good 😭😭
god i remember taz meal prepping in the night, compared to the latest cooking videos there is so much progress!! i'm proud of you taz

I add seasoning in pasta salad and it’s better after being in fridge for a while
You are what is called a Super Taster. Look it up. You are a chef, an artist and an astonishing film maker.
Cutting carrots is easier if you cut them into pieces about 3 or 4 cm long. Having a sharp knife is essential though. You can sharpen knives so maybe look into that, I can't personally as the sound the sharpening makes gives me anxiety.
For the dumplings you never use cooked prawns.
The rice paper would work better if you deep fry, that's what Vietnamese spring rolls are made from
1:06 Apples don't contain proteases(enzymes that break down protein). They do contain malic acid though, which might help tenderise meat. Pineapple contains proteases, so they might be a better bet for making more tender meat
I mix in anything I have at hand in my tuna. Mayo, Greek yoghurt, spring onion, herbs, salt, pepper, chili, pickles and pickle juice. Go wild with it
when it comes to beef and that chewiness, my mum always says it's the way you cut the beef like along the grain or against it, something liddat
Well done Taz for getting the confidence to experiment now 😊😊 you can find the dumpling wraps u wanted usually in the freezers. You can certainly fry rice paper if it was still chewy u maybe needed to fry it longer but am all for the experimenting! Way to go 😊😊
I'd say nearly all dishes can be salted to taste when using fresh ingredients instead of frozen ones already loaded with sodium
Spiraelli are my favorite.
Tbh New York doesn’t have authentic Mexican food either. But it’s like the Indian food you can get in the UK, it’s approaching authentic bc of the immigrants living here
I was ab to say lol
Look for gyoza sheets/ wraps. It will be a tiny pack mostly in refrigerator 😅
Dumplin wraps are usually in the fridge or a freezer
if you put a damp towel below your cutting board, it wont move when you cut things :) hehe everything looked so yummy!
Omg I love Mexican food, I wish we had that here. Even harder to find authentic stuff in Australia!
I feel once she started travelling, as everyone should to get a little bit cultured, sbe is becoming more and more skilled. You should try visiting Finland, Sweden, Norway, even Iceland when you can Taz, that might allow you to get your creative juices flowing and contribute to your writing.
I love when you cook!
warm up your tortillas for a few secs on the stove or in the microwave before you make burritos so they are soft and not so stiff!
Hope you're better now 🫶
Ohhh girl!! Let me tell you that if you put milk in the horchata until you see it turn into a creamy white it will change your life😍
Dumpling wraps are usually in the fridge!!! :)
"The Dumplings aren't Dumplinging"😆
I recommend callaloo soup. Easy recipe and healthy 😋
Hey Taz, not sure if it's authentic but you should try Korean fire chicken. It's basically chicken thighs cut up and cooked in a homemade buldak sauce.
Now you’re in a new place can you do another “2 good to go” video!
I just use steak knives for cutting up my veggies. They're pretty small and serrated. That knife looked way too big for a carrot, like something you'd carve a pumpkin with!
Taz please put a damp rag or paper towel under your cutting board
With love from the US ❤
The green cardigan with big flowers is so cute!! Any chance you remember where you got it?
Buy yourself a kitchen devil knife. Very sharp. Never sharpened mine and I've had it for over 5 years.
Taz, you gotta heat up that tortilla in the microwave for about twenty or more seconds... then it will be more pliable and taste better.
Taz you just need a steel or knife sharpener. That looks like a good beater knife if you sharpen it, It could work well for you!
I just discovered horchata recently and LOVE it. You should sprinkle some cinnamon on top!
Okay so what I want you try might sound a bit weird but I swear on this combo it's like soooooo good and my mouth is watering as I'm typing 😂
So it's simple rice milk and chutney
Chutney recipe is simple: 1 medium sized tomato, 5-6 chillies, Coriander and salt as per taste make a paste of those you can even put garlic cloves in the chutney paste it'll taste better.
And then you just take some rice pour in milk ( the ratio should be 1:1 ) and then put chutney and that's it. I kid you not but taste soooo good 😭😭
i loved this video, could not stop giggling
Love your videos ❤
Of course you should add salt you should always add salt no matter what you are cooking , the salt is what makes food eatable
