ive done about 100+ Bridgeport mill reconditions have been out on call about 1000+ of them for varispeed belt change and refurb the plates. I Am a machine tool fitter work as call out for 13 years, after working on so many i got sick of seeing them but without doubt the most popular turret mill ever every engineering shop has 1
One or more! The shop I bought this from had 6 others and 2 of those were also for sale. I'll only ever need one in my small shop here at home. I just hope I am doing all this "right". I've decided NOT to replace some of the bearings, so I am hoping that won't prove to be a mistake. But it is for a hobby shop. Nothing high precision.
I had such a hard time removing that dastardly ball on my 1st mill. Even with the special neodymium magnet tool from H&W. I ended up removing the entire gear train behind to get it all out together. You’re making great progress. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Thanks! I'm glad I didn't lose it, but at least I know I could replace it id I had to. I wonder why yours was so stuck to the point the magnet couldn't get it out?
Coming along great . When i get some spare time , i have to do my BP head as well . I would be interested to know where you get the parts from & what your thoughts are on the quality . 👍
I've been getting my parts from two different sources: H&W Machine out of Indiana and High Quality Tools here in Ohio. High Quality Tools makes just about every part for a Bridgeport. H&W resells a lot of those parts, but they also offer some stuff that HQT does not, or different versions. Bearings is a good example. HQT sells high quality USA made bearings (probably Timken) and H&W also offers the same bearings and substitutes made in Japan or Taiwan at a reduced cost. I'm not a production shop so I opted for the cost savings. On the other hand, if I buy from HQT, I can drive 10 minutes and pick it up rather than paying and waiting for shipping.
Coming along nicely. Just a suggestion, but I think you should be on the lookout for a pipefitters chain vice. You can find on a tripold and I've seen table mount. I think it would help with your disassembly/assembly work. Thanks for the look.
Good vid! Needed a better idea of how the head is built up before tearing down my bridgeport-style Partner head and this did just that. Cheers!
Glad it helped!
I'd actually be curious to see your cleaning process for all these parts. You always seem to manage to get them looking great.
Maybe one day!
Thanks for the video! I’m having a heck of a time getting that steel ball out - but you give me hope!
It can be done! Might need a good strong magnet.
Nice progress...moving right along..Enjoyed
Thanks 👍
Approaching 1K well deserved subs!
So close!

@@MyLilMule Thanks . I will keep them in mind . 👍
What thread is the little screw you used on the upper quill stop???
Are you meaning the screw I used to remove the reverse trip stop lever? I think it was 10-32 if I recall correctly.
@MyLilMule yea the little "3 ball" looking thing
@@ebayollis Actually, I think it's a 5#-40 screw.
@@MyLilMule oh law, I definitely don't have one of those
@@ebayollis Ace Hardware, if you're in the USA.

That's a great tip. I'll have to keep my eye out for one at the auctions.
