Fun Fact the sequel was gonna drop the open world and be a level based game and focus even more on the combat. The best part is Wolverine would be a playable second character to make up for the lack of the black suit.

Playing this game recently, there's just too much to praise in the combat. Easily my favorite combat from any Spider-Man game, even with the combat flow and style of the Insomniac Games being as beautiful as it is. I'm hoping the sequel will bring a more intricate web strike so that all four of the face buttons can do something different. That web strike system was the best and it was never utilized again.
welllll, the way ps4's combat works, they probably shouldn't be adding webstrike followups to X and O, but I don't think them putting some on square and triangle would clash with anything, so let's hope they do that. Would feel awesome to do some sick tricks on dudes
@@DestinySpiderYou got a point. But where I'm coming from with this is that with web of shadows, the jump button was technically the dodge so-to-speak with web strikes. They could make pressing X during the webstrike from WoS equal to that of dodging from the new ones. Hell, charge jumping in the insomniac games counts as a dodge from what I've seen, so I don't see why not. As for what O would do, I was thinking something similar to how it could web up the enemy while going to them for extra utility. This way you can still dodge at any moment but that'd mess with muscle memory most likely. None of this is likely to happen anyway but I like to theorize.
I feel that Insomniac's combat is like a neutered version of the Arkham games. It's fairly simple and gives up potential complexities in favor of cinematics. Which is fine for what they were going for, but as a hard-core gamer who plays games like DMC all the time, it just wasn't my cup of tea
The first black cat costume and body proportions definitely awoke something within me and always found myself being drawn to black cat related Spider-Man stuff
Cool fact: this game was actually going to get a spinoff where you were gonna play as venom infecting the city, but the idea was scrapped, and the game in question was turned into its own IP known as PROTOTYPE. It's also why many of the abilities in that game series are very venom like.
It's really interesting, that Insomniac didn't think of this. You can transition through Web-Strike, and it give you directions and change of scenery. I also remember during my playthroughs I used to go initiate the symbiotes on ground, transition to a wall, but if the fight is overwhelming, I would go onto the roof, knowing they will follow, rest and reinitiate. Brilliant system. Insomniac could value a lot implementing this in Spider-Man finale. A giant leap from arena combat in first 2 games
Aw man your videos are really starting to go hard. Keep it up with that cinematic feel in the writing, and your clean easy on the viewer editing style. Been watching you since the ultimate Spider-Man video man. I know how much of an undertaking making BEEG vids like this are.
So glad I found this channel your videos are so well made man. Your voice is nice to listen to and all the facts you sprinkle into these make them so entertaining. Usually I put videos this long on in the background but for most of your vids I actually full on watch them. Keep up the great work!
Combat was always fun plus having Spiderman take a darker path is always interesting considering how Peter Parker is as a person. Yeah they may be edgier version of him in alternate universes but seeing this as a kid blew my mind.
Personally as a huge Spider-Man fan this game has been my favorite game of all time for years. With mods, you can essentially play as many different spider characters and the combat and traversal stays enjoyable after ng+ with the swing upgrades. 4 separate endings just add to the replayability. This is a game that I could get lost in swinging around New York for hours and it's just relaxing. Yeah I hate Peter's voice, but I've played this game so many times that I have every word memorized.
25:36 the ground upgrade 2 or 3 combo for the red suit. The one that ends with Spider-Man doing his air kick into the ground. Destroys mech almost consistently from full health if you can get the combo off. It'll be the most damage you see in the game. My personal advice is to have the kick connect in-between the mech's legs
I loved Spider-Man before this, but became obsessed after. The 1st boss battle with wolverine sent me straight to he wiki to learn the answers to his questions, which sent me down the Spider-Man rabbit hole on the wiki, then branched off from there. This game holds a special place in my heart
I think a big part of web of shadow’s appreciation comes from the kids who played Spider-Man-2/3. As a pre-teen, I loved this game because it felt like a step up from Spider-Man 2.
I always remembered the interaction with black cat when I played Web of Shadows, and I always chose to accept her confession. Mostly because I'm a huge fan of the pair.
25:30 You can use last attack(drop kick) of red suit combo. It can one shoot mech when perfom well. The best way is to be near mech wait for begin of his smash to ground stomp, Doge and start combo. Also web shooters can deal dmg, you can counter rocket when you time block and then rocket will hit mech(its hard because when you block too soon the rocket will fly above you).
This a a skill that many don’t know but you can pickup random civilians and throw them but when you throw them they are equipped with a wed parachute so far my favorite feature
amazing childhood memories waking up, fixing me a bowl of ice cream for breakfast on a saturday morning and playing this on my xbox 360. man i wish i could have those simple times back
I actually really hope the next spiderman game takes more inspiration from this games combat and Web slinging. I adore this game to death and even Shattered Dimensions.
Another web of shadows review that fails to mention that you can web parachute civilians to safety mid-air which is a really cool hidden feature. Great video though !
I wish they went into more detail on the movement and web-swinging as well. It is by far some of the best in the series. The amount of momentum you can get from the seemingly useless "timed ground hop" and the gd AIR DODGE of all things is just mind-blowing. You can also carry a stupid amount of momentum with the animations from some of the special skills, and even GAIN height. Like, I cannot stress how bonkers the skill ceiling for movement is in this game lmao.
Honestly, the more I played Spider-man 2, the more it felt like it was a remaster (in a way) to web of shadows. - Changing into the black/berserker suit in combat with the surge ability - Symbiote abilities that utilize tendrils and aggressive dialogue - The theme of corruption - Teaming up with other heroes in combat sections (instead of calling them in, it’s random encounters during crimes) - Symbiote invasion in the big third act and using a device to wipe out all the symbiote’s at once - Venom powering up with the host fighting against the Symbiote and willing to die to stop it - Relationship drama with MJ brought on by the suit - Symbiote “nests” that pull in and convert people into symbiotes It basically took a bunch of cues as inspiration to applied these concepts within the context of their own gameplay and story.
The potential for this game is massive. No other spidey game has combat or traversal as deep as this. I was hoping Insomniac would make their game more inspired by this game in terms of mechanics. Sadly it's likely they would keep it safe and not change a lot. It would be likely be just as flashy but with little substance to it
I can't think of another superhero combat move as satisfying as Web of Shadows Spider-Man swinging feet-first into a crowd of zombies and knocking them over like bowling pins. Never got tired of it.
I am a huge sucker for open world spider man games. I loved Spiderman 2, played Ultimate Spiderman so many times I lost count, and Web of Shadows was probably my first "Platinum" achievement (because 360 didn't have Platinum trophies). I always enjoyed the heck out of WoS, and this retrospective reminded me of all the good that game did.
Hot take: I've played at max level but prefer trying to play this game without ever collecting a single token and therefore never leveling up. Having so little health adds much needed risk to the games combat, having a one time special instead of a special you can spam makes you consider what attacks you use, and your base swing speed is flexible enough that high speed can still be reached with enough skill. Plus trying to dodge the many tokens in combat encourages more environmental awareness, and creativity in avoiding nigh mandatory tokens in certain missions.
Honestly same I also did the same thing with X-Men Origins Wolverine. I never upgraded the damage the claws could do and it made combos much more fun to do since enemies won't go down so quickly and it makes encounters risky
@@robertwyatt3912 That's not true, they also upgrade your health meter and special meter, making it legitimately hard to die at max level and giving you the ability to spam an absurd amount of special attacks in a row, making you OP. The Meters also increase in size as you level up, so you can check out a blind playthrough compared to a fully upgraded NG+ one. (Your meters are literally cut in half at level 1, while max level ones are equal to the length of Spider-Mans head portrait.)
@@Jiub_SN True, but I feel the game should be somewhat difficult when you're fighting an army of Venoms who all have similar powers to Spider-man. I don't mind being OP in the first half when you're fighting crime. (At that point if it was hard it ruins the Power Fantasy like you said.) I just don't like to be OP in the Symbiote Invasion half of the game, especially with how much combat there is. It gets kinda boring for me when I'm one shotting every "Super Symbiote" who are all supposed to be strong enough to overpower other Super Heroes like Wolverine.
My favorite part of this game was the rockstar knee slide that blacksuit Spidey would do up the side of buildings. I laughed so hard the first time i saw it. I also was glad that Luke Cage was in there
It really makes me wish we could mod those models into Web of Shadows, because it would actually look pretty cool. Alas, we're stuck with TexMod (which TBF can be used to do some pretty cool texture stuff).
I remember really enjoying this game's dark story choices regarding black cat when I was a teenager. It definitely made me aware of some things I felt towards Black Cat.
This game is genuinely PHENOMENAL. I thought it was blind nostalgia, as i used to play it when i was younger... but upon replaying... its still really damn good
Personally, I think this game has great ideas for gameplay and story but held back by it's execution cause not of all it succeeds. Imagine a web of shadow remake by insomniac, it would be freakin awesome. Who wouldn't want to play as spiderman with super heroes and super villains at your side. And the story is fu*kin epic, feels like an invasion or war at the end, you feel like you really have allies and faction.
Nah. Insomniac wouldn't do it justice. It would just be a regular Sony game with handholdy elements. WoS charm is that it's essentially a character action game with a pre Infamous choice system and traversal which actually requires some skill and not just scripted animations. What Insomniac specialises in is heroes with tons of gadgets and WoS isn't in their alley. Platinum, Team Ninja or Capcom making a Spider-Man game makes more sense since they're kings of stylish fast paced action with player urgency and little automation
@@DatPRGuy2017 swinging with real physics is one of the ideas that if implemented by insomniac level of quality it would be awesome. But yeah, I see where you're coming from.
@dageekyboi2214 Exactly. The insomniac games don't even have freaking hitboxes for Spidey's melee attacks. And despite having some admittedly impressive combo videos, the system is so dependent on switching gadgets via a pace-breaking menu wheel. And Even *if* that wasn't the case it'd still never reach the depth of a game like Web of Shadows (and if you want to even further bully it, DMC) because it's trying to be realistic with its physics. If you ask me, the only thing Insomniac has over WoS is that....uhhh it's optimized better. You're not exactly gonna win any awards for that. That's expected. Oh wait, there are stable framerate mods for WoS? Well ain't that just awkward for you, Insomniac.
@@therentpursuer9869 incredible how people say "you can mod the game to fix its problems so the game that doesn't have those problems to begin with should feel bad." Like that really gives the whole game away, just doing mental gymnastics to say the thing you like's flaws don't count because a third-party mod you can't use on console anyway can fix them
@NAFEDUDE That is true, though to be fair I'm sure if a studio were to port WoS to modern systems (which will never happen) I'm sure they'd clean up its optimization issues.
Web of Shadows has to be the second best Spider-Man game ever made. The first place is reserved for a yet-not-existing game that can take WoS' combat, swinging and themes-as-gameplay and mix it with a better city presentation and mission structure. This game is like 75% combat and my only gripe about that is that there's not enough combat! Or rather, more tougher enemies which can take your immense destructive power halfway through the game and onwards. It was also a game to tide me over until [Prototype] finally released, and those games are quite similar below the surface, both even have the bodysurf move!
Yeah I just replied to someone that WOS biggest issues were how it layed out most of its side and main missions. Previous Spider-Man games tried to make sure missions weren't mostly just combat based whereas WOS makes most of its main and side stuff combat and so as a result it brings down the quality for some
it’s really awesome seeing a video like this, i grew up with web of shadows when i was really young and most of my life i dont think i really knew of or heard anyone talk about this game. it’s definitely got it’s flaws and the Wii controls were rough at times but i still had so much fun with it! i got scared and quit the game when the symbiote stuff started taking off more but i revisited it years later and damn, i was so surprised at how much fun i had
I would LOVE a remake of this game so much. I would add a suit lock-on feature that would let you stay in the suit that you are wearing and turn it off whenever you want to switch back. You would definitely have to add the Raimi alternative suits. I agree with your ideas on your red and black suit moral choices. Also, add a difficulty level and have the NG+ immediately available when you beat the game.
My 11 year old self scratched the living shit out of my copy. Now 10 years later I want to buy another one but I can only find them for about 125 dollars!!
This very game is the BEST game I have ever played. Im heavily biased because its just so good. Here this game lets you become a VILLAIN as Spider-Man! WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT? the story is top notch.
36:08 Well, the biggest sin of WoS: absence of Jonah. I like that in WoS I can beat the shit out of bosses (except the last one). I don't need to find their weak spot and hit that, or have my moveset limited, because "%bossname% is immune to webs".
You always have a beautiful way of managing your opinion while also providing insight and knowledge. There’s no heavy bias and you respect the other side wholeheartedly, no hate, no disrespect, and most importantly enough honesty to really move someone. You truly are one of the few civilized people there are In the world when it comes to laying down your mind.
10:00 omfg I wish the new Spider-Man games made you land like that after falling instead of just perfectly landing on your feet no matter how high the fall was
I think the combat and the fact that we pretty much got a Spider-Man game with zombies. It was just really cool. So cool that we overlooked all the bugs and flaws in the story
I always loved the symbiote's concept in Spider-Man's universe. Also, the combat system and the fact that you could change suits mid-game just by pressing a button was what made me fall for this game.
I would love to see a remaster of this game made today. Seeing a symbiotic New York with todays graphics would be the greatest thing from any Spider-Man game
Insomniac is basically doing the same premise in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 so it's basically a worthy indirect remake of this game and I honestly can't wait
i think this would be the perfect gameplay for a spider-man 2099 game. you could even have the two different move sets with normal being fists and black suit being claws.
I rented this game on Wii from Family Video back in 2011, and it was the first video game I ever played for 12 hours in one 24-hour period. I played it from 7:00 that Friday night to 3:00 in the morning, woke up at 9:00 on Saturday and immediately played it and didn't stop except for food and bathroom breaks until 5:00. I just could not put it down. The freedom of swinging, the quick, snappy, and versatile web strike, and the combat was such an unbelievable power trip that I have a hard time putting it into words. This was the game that made me "me like Spider-Man". And I loved Peter's nasally voice, he sounded like such a dork and I thought it was perfect. The Wii version is actually far superior to the 360/PS3 versions of the game, despite the very noticeable graphical downgrade. There are exclusive abilites like pick up any civilian while web slinging and being able to throw most objects with the tendrils, and rewarded you for finding spider emblems with alternate suits. Plus, it's one of the few third party Wii games with motion controls that actually function properly, and it makes the swinging and web striking mechanic more engaging. Anyways, WoS is ridiculously good when it's good, and its faults are negligible to me. They just don't even come close to ruining such a fun game.
No Spider-Man game can beat web of shadows combat . Not even 2018 spider man or miles morales. Web of shadows combat was too great. Especially the wall fights
Your comment about Peter in this sounding like Ultimate Peter reminded me, that when I was younger i used to think this was a sequel to Ultimate. I still kinda keep that head-canon, which makes it feel so much grander that its like a huge rematch
I had the version of this game that was a sidescroller (think it was for DS) and they got around the alignment thing by forcing you to make the alignment choice of the suit you were in when you finished the fight, sure you could change back right before but it definitely made you feel the weight of your actions if you forgot to switch to good guy mode or accidentally beat an enemy too fast in the black suit and got stuck with the bad guy dialogue and decision point
At the very least, unlike the Insomniac games so far, I CAN HOLD ON TO MY GODDAMN WEBLINE WITHOUT IT FORCING ME TO DO THE SAME BORING ARC OVER AND OVER. The fact that SM2, USM, SM3, and WoS already got this right makes it baffling it never came back
While this might not be the greatest Spider-Man game, It has without a doubt the best combat out of all of them imo, With Shattered Dimensions coming in a close second.
Usually i dont watch hour long videos, but i didnt even realize it was that long until it finished. Ive finished this game countless times as a child and to this day i still find new things about it. You've got one more sub keep it up
Web of shadows never felt like usual spiderman game, it got some sorta dark vibe overall with choices that can either will make you hero or menace in the end 🔥💯
My top spiderman game that I finished when you needed to put in the play disk for the game in PC every time you had to play. Changing of suits mid battle or anytime you were flying(swinging) through the air while changing animations in itself deserves a high praise for the time.
Its definitely the unique mechanics/combat and variety. You can feel like spiderman while still having your own style. This is an aspect spiderman ps4 lacks the arial combat is severely limited to like 2 moves, only 1 trick button, combos get repetitive and no wall crawling combat at all or interesting mechanics besides what's been done before.
Yeah my main issue with Spider-Man PS4 is that it's a "checklist" videogame and doesn't do anything mind-blowing. Swinging is just a shallow though visually stunning adaptation of the Treyarch Spider-Man system, gadget wheel is mostly from Ratchet and Clank and Spider-Man Friend or Foe, combat is just a modified Arkham combat with dodges instead of counters and shit air combat. It's not remotely mind-blowing with what it does gameplay wise Unlike Arkham Asylum (which came out at a time where most superhero games either had basic beat-em-up elements, were God of War/DmC clones or RPGs) bringing more to superhero titles or even Web of Shadows which utilised the characters powers to the max allowing him to fight on walls, do cook moves on air and switch suits on the fly
The biggest payoff the decisions had i found when i played the first few times was that the more you either embrace his heroic side picking red or indulging in the darker side in the black choice, the culmination of those decisions are what make the game chose a side for you at the end with the fight with Vulture. My man, you hit every mark. This shit is my favorite game since i was little and I’m almost out of college now so to get high to a vid about my favorite childhood game that talks about each aspect is dope. Nice job, sir.
This game gave to us everything that any other spidey game couldn't give, it has some flaws but it's still the best spiderman experience in my opinion even in this days
Really great game. It has a decent story, a really great combat system especially when it's all maxed out, and I love how the combat changes once you're in the Symbiote suit, though I still preferred fighting in the normal red and blue suit (felt smoother and overall more consistent), and the web swinging is also really great. The voice acting could honestly be a little better, I couldn't stand characters like MJ and Black Widow don't ask me. Villains like Venom were also really hard to understand in the final fight. But It's by far my most liked Spider-Man game after Spider-Man PS4.
top 2 Spider-Man game. story, web swinging physics were really good, ariel combat and wall combat, only game to let us use both suits at any given time, with each having their own set of attacks, move-sets and traits, decision making was a big factor in the story, city, and gameplay, but it didn't make you feel completely punished if you wanted to be the bad guy. the black suit was badass, the allies were good, and you could even change girlfriends and have black cat lmao the wii version i had was awesome
I really like Web of Shadows a lot but I just think due to budget constraints and a rushed deadline, a lot of the gameplay ended up feeling like Web Strike the Game. I love the Web Strike and the game is long enough to where it never gets dull but the fact that the final boss is really just Web Strike four heads and then QTE just leaves me with wanting more.
Insomniac just really needs to buy the rights for this game and make a remaster of it with the same gameplay mechanics; no tweaks that mess up the originality of the game. Except for A few new stuff added in that add more to the game. Fully remastered with Unreal Engine 5
No, Web of Shadows was made with character action in mind. I'd rather Capcom, Platinum Games or even Team Ninja do anything WoS related since they're good at that type of gameplay Insomniac doesn't fit at all
Insomniac definitely understands Spider-Man very well. They know, to some degree, what fans like about the predecessor games and what they expect. For some reason it just didn’t land quite right. Here’s to hoping Spider-Man 2 makes the first one look like an early first build. I fear they won’t get the web swinging right from what we’ve seen but I remain optimistic. Aside from the swinging, I thoroughly enjoy everything else.
@@JJ-zo7jvYou’re entitled to your opinion, but this is a crazy take. Saying that one of the best games to release that year “just didn’t land quite right” is already wild, but then saying that they didn’t get the swinging right, despite that being a primary point of praise, is somehow even crazier. You can prefer WoS, but Insomniac’s Spider-Man was an overwhelming success and an excellently made game.
It's a game that drew me in from the start and actually lived up to the hype with its story and combat. Now there's people that want to call it overrated as time passes. This game along with The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was a rewarding and memorable part of my childhood.
This was my first EVER video game that I’ve ever played, I first played it when I was 5, 3 years later my youngest sibling bit the CD in half. Luckily we got it out of his mouth but unfortunately I lost my first childhood game. Tonight I found a way to emulate the game, 14 years later I played the one game that defined my love of gaming. The absolute euphoria that courses through my veins was so intoxicating. I played about 2 hours of it. And planning to hop in again after my shift

I got this game in grade 2 2010. Played it ?im not exaggerating I used to keep count) 30+ times till 2015
Fun Fact the sequel was gonna drop the open world and be a level based game and focus even more on the combat. The best part is Wolverine would be a playable second character to make up for the lack of the black suit.
And this sequel turned into Shattered Dimensions

And don’t forget the wall combat, they never brought that back either
I feel that Insomniac's combat is like a neutered version of the Arkham games. It's fairly simple and gives up potential complexities in favor of cinematics. Which is fine for what they were going for, but as a hard-core gamer who plays games like DMC all the time, it just wasn't my cup of tea
@@Dstryrr I agree completely
The first black cat costume and body proportions definitely awoke something within me and always found myself being drawn to black cat related Spider-Man stuff
Cool fact: this game was actually going to get a spinoff where you were gonna play as venom infecting the city, but the idea was scrapped, and the game in question was turned into its own IP known as PROTOTYPE. It's also why many of the abilities in that game series are very venom like.
hats off to SHABA games, first time making a spidey game, in 17 months, im very impressed

Mostly because I'm a huge fan of the pair.
heh
"pair"
25:30 You can use last attack(drop kick) of red suit combo. It can one shoot mech when perfom well. The best way is to be near mech wait for begin of his smash to ground stomp, Doge and start combo. Also web shooters can deal dmg, you can counter rocket when you time block and then rocket will hit mech(its hard because when you block too soon the rocket will fly above you).
This a a skill that many don’t know but you can pickup random civilians and throw them but when you throw them they are equipped with a wed parachute so far my favorite feature

@@TheArgentinianStealer
just carry someone, and while swinging in the air press "z" (the web shoot button).
I loved parachuting them into the water lol
I wish they went into more detail on the movement and web-swinging as well. It is by far some of the best in the series. The amount of momentum you can get from the seemingly useless "timed ground hop" and the gd AIR DODGE of all things is just mind-blowing. You can also carry a stupid amount of momentum with the animations from some of the special skills, and even GAIN height. Like, I cannot stress how bonkers the skill ceiling for movement is in this game lmao.
Honestly, the more I played Spider-man 2, the more it felt like it was a remaster (in a way) to web of shadows.
- Changing into the black/berserker suit in combat with the surge ability
- Symbiote abilities that utilize tendrils and aggressive dialogue
- The theme of corruption
- Teaming up with other heroes in combat sections (instead of calling them in, it’s random encounters during crimes)
- Symbiote invasion in the big third act and using a device to wipe out all the symbiote’s at once
- Venom powering up with the host fighting against the Symbiote and willing to die to stop it
- Relationship drama with MJ brought on by the suit
- Symbiote “nests” that pull in and convert people into symbiotes
It basically took a bunch of cues as inspiration to applied these concepts within the context of their own gameplay and story.
The potential for this game is massive. No other spidey game has combat or traversal as deep as this. I was hoping Insomniac would make their game more inspired by this game in terms of mechanics. Sadly it's likely they would keep it safe and not change a lot. It would be likely be just as flashy but with little substance to it
Thanks for the rush of memories.. It was an excellent game to play.
Such a shame the studio got shut down. IMO this is the best Spider-Man game out there
Bro your videos are substantial and great to a degree that is increasingly rare. Thank you for your effort and genuine interest in the videos you make

@ThatBoyAqua pleasure mate❤️
It’s combat is a 10/10 and it’s considered to have the best swinging in any Spider-Man game alongside Spider-Man 2.
Honestly same
I also did the same thing with X-Men Origins Wolverine. I never upgraded the damage the claws could do and it made combos much more fun to do since enemies won't go down so quickly and it makes encounters risky
Tokens only give you speed, though
I also was glad that Luke Cage was in there
btw, purposeless rabbitholes has great video breaking down the traversal mechanics. if you really want to swing like a big boi
Spoilers for Spider-Man 2 on the PS5 but
it did the Web of Shadows symbiotic-ified NYC AMAZINGLY well.
It really makes me wish we could mod those models into Web of Shadows, because it would actually look pretty cool. Alas, we're stuck with TexMod (which TBF can be used to do some pretty cool texture stuff).
I remember crying and begging my dad to buy this game when I was little. And glad to say I still own it😂
Nice
I would be glad to. This game is awesome and pricey
@@therentpursuer9869 incredible how people say "you can mod the game to fix its problems so the game that doesn't have those problems to begin with should feel bad."
Like that really gives the whole game away, just doing mental gymnastics to say the thing you like's flaws don't count because a third-party mod you can't use on console anyway can fix them
@NAFEDUDE That is true, though to be fair I'm sure if a studio were to port WoS to modern systems (which will never happen) I'm sure they'd clean up its optimization issues.
you're a great writer. i enjoy the metaphors you use. the overall style is very nice to the ears. not choppy or awkward. very good. :)

Because there's no MJ missions.
Played this when it came out and it still holds up to a majority of games today.
If the game alignment is truly based on which suit you use more often that would be incredibly sick
I think the combat and the fact that we pretty much got a Spider-Man game with zombies. It was just really cool. So cool that we overlooked all the bugs and flaws in the story
Love the Content! Keep Striving!
Love this game, I really wish we got a game with similar mechanics that improved upon WoS flaws
I always loved the symbiote's concept in Spider-Man's universe. Also, the combat system and the fact that you could change suits mid-game just by pressing a button was what made me fall for this game.
I would love to see a remaster of this game made today. Seeing a symbiotic New York with todays graphics would be the greatest thing from any Spider-Man game
you got your wish
Hyped for new upload!!! Your intros are always amazing
The fact that web of shadows is the way it is with how short of a time they had to make it, it's a miracle that it's as good as it is
this game still has the BEST web swinging in any spiderman game ever made(yes, im including the insomniac games)
Great video! I loved this game back in the day, this makes me want to replay it
I had the version of this game that was a sidescroller (think it was for DS) and they got around the alignment thing by forcing you to make the alignment choice of the suit you were in when you finished the fight, sure you could change back right before but it definitely made you feel the weight of your actions if you forgot to switch to good guy mode or accidentally beat an enemy too fast in the black suit and got stuck with the bad guy dialogue and decision point
At the very least, unlike the Insomniac games so far, I CAN HOLD ON TO MY GODDAMN WEBLINE WITHOUT IT FORCING ME TO DO THE SAME BORING ARC OVER AND OVER. The fact that SM2, USM, SM3, and WoS already got this right makes it baffling it never came back
1:09 Underrated is different from underloved
While this might not be the greatest Spider-Man game, It has without a doubt the best combat out of all of them imo, With Shattered Dimensions coming in a close second.
It’s definitely my favorite, and yeah the combat is insane! I love using people as skateboards and kicking them up walls lol
Your opinion is wrong.
My opinion is right
This is THE BEST spiderman game.
Imagine using new game +
AS A TIME LOOP
That repeats untill Spiderman is fully corrupted and a higher power wins
Spiderman WoS is my favourite Spiderman Game to this date. Maybe Marvels Spiderman 2 will surpass it but they have to really work on the gameplay.
It's not remotely mind-blowing with what it does gameplay wise
Unlike Arkham Asylum (which came out at a time where most superhero games either had basic beat-em-up elements, were God of War/DmC clones or RPGs) bringing more to superhero titles or even Web of Shadows which utilised the characters powers to the max allowing him to fight on walls, do cook moves on air and switch suits on the fly
This game gave to us everything that any other spidey game couldn't give, it has some flaws but it's still the best spiderman experience in my opinion even in this days
i love this game so much. i’ve hung on to my xbox 360 copy for years and i’m happy to see it get some much needed attention and praise
Web of shadows is amazing. Before I fully switched to my next gen ps4, I made sure to do one last WOS playthrough before I put the PS3 in storage.
web of shadows will always be the best spiderman game. Game is wacky as hell and it all works together
But It's by far my most liked Spider-Man game after Spider-Man PS4.
top 2 Spider-Man game. story, web swinging physics were really good, ariel combat and wall combat, only game to let us use both suits at any given time, with each having their own set of attacks, move-sets and traits, decision making was a big factor in the story, city, and gameplay, but it didn't make you feel completely punished if you wanted to be the bad guy. the black suit was badass, the allies were good, and you could even change girlfriends and have black cat lmao
the wii version i had was awesome
I really like Web of Shadows a lot but I just think due to budget constraints and a rushed deadline, a lot of the gameplay ended up feeling like Web Strike the Game. I love the Web Strike and the game is long enough to where it never gets dull but the fact that the final boss is really just Web Strike four heads and then QTE just leaves me with wanting more.
One little detail I love about this game is that Spiderman blocking animation is just like Marvel vs Capcom
The first Spider-Man game I fully played through and loved 🙏🏾💯
Fun fact: if you max your swinging you can go so fast that you can swing up to the helicarrier at the end of the game.
I'd rather Capcom, Platinum Games or even Team Ninja do anything WoS related since they're good at that type of gameplay
Insomniac doesn't fit at all
Insomniac definitely understands Spider-Man very well.
That's never going to happen
It's a game that drew me in from the start and actually lived up to the hype with its story and combat. Now there's people that want to call it overrated as time passes. This game along with The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was a rewarding and memorable part of my childhood.
having your studio shut down because you had unrealistic time constraints must be one of the worst feelings, i'd feel cheated out
Yeah now all the insomniac d riders wanna disrespect this game
This was my first EVER video game that I’ve ever played, I first played it when I was 5, 3 years later my youngest sibling bit the CD in half. Luckily we got it out of his mouth but unfortunately I lost my first childhood game. Tonight I found a way to emulate the game, 14 years later I played the one game that defined my love of gaming. The absolute euphoria that courses through my veins was so intoxicating. I played about 2 hours of it. And planning to hop in again after my shift
