@shizuwolf I looked it up and it's a bit of both, but Shattered Dimensions is what really got it. "One of the writers of the game, Mark Hoffmeier, also worked on the well-received Spider-Man: The Animated Series on Fox Kids before working on the game. Some of the concepts from the TV show influenced the game, including the use of multiple versions of Spider-Man (as seen on the show) and the concept of the Tablet of Order and Chaos. Another writer for Shattered Dimensions, Dan Slott, later worked on the 2014 comic book storyline, "Spider-Verse", which was influenced by the game and, in turn, inspired the animated Spider-Verse film franchise"
Easy click. I remember getting this on a Christmas trip, away from my PlayStation, and counting down the days until home I’d stare at the art on the back of the case, *daydreaming* of playing it. Still exceeded my expectations then. This game is so good. Thanks for covering it!
I got this game with my Xbox 360 on a random weeknight back when I was like 9. I love this game and will always have such a special place in my heart. Thanks for making a video on it. Love the channel.
This and Spiderman 2018 go back and forth as my favorite Spiderman games. I loved the variety of each character and it was the first time I saw Deadpool in a game and fell in love with the character.
maybe this is a hot take, but i much prefer this style of game for spiderman. I think it fits so much better for a focus on combat and pacing of the story. open world is typically cluttered with repetitive side content and or filled with so much empty space. i love swinging in spiderman ps4 and 2, but i would glady sacrifice that in a instant for another shattered dimensions or edge of time based spiderman game.
I remember playing this game as a kid, and I loved it, and I still do. It was also my introduction to villains such as Kraven the Hunter, Electro, and Carnage (with the Carnage level being my favorite in the game), as well as my introduction to Deadpool.
This game made me even more obsessed with spiderman as a kid. I already played spiderman 2 and watched the classic shows. This game was well made and im so sad it hasnt gotten the remaster it deserves
I've always loved looking at Various Spider-Man media, having been intrigued by the character and relating to him in so many ways, seeing the 'Sam rami' films since I was a kid, constantly looking back at some episodes of the 90s animated series and the spectacular spiderman show from the 2000's really gave me a bit of that nostalgic feel I've wanted for a long time. After having watched a few retrospectives of old spider man games you did made me miss the character on a personal level. I'm looking forward to seeing what have to say in your later videos, I'll still continue to watch your videos as you do provide very long concise rundowns of most interesting games that you talk about in your retrospective videos, there always an enjoyable to watch and I feel like I intrigued to seeing more from you in the future. Good stuff overall!
As a kid I adored Shattered Dimensions as my second favorite Spider-Man game behind Spider-Man Web of Shadows. As an adult I found I didn't enjoy it to the extent as I did in my youth and shockingly found its sequel, which i remember disliking (mainly cuz the Wii version had the attack buttons be the d-pad and that literally had my fingers start bleeding) was actually waaaaay better than I remember. Some great writing in Edge of Time.
This game was one of my favourite Platinums to get on the PS3, I really liked Noir the most, flawed yes, but I just loved the aesthetic and the vibe. The stealth gameplay was actually my fav and loved beating them all without being seen, such a great challenge
Imagine the 90s Spider-Man was the reason the Spider-Verse continued. Knowing Spider-Man wasn't the only one. But multiple versions of him. Different universe, others taking the mantle, and being Spider-Man their own way. Along with Spider-Women.
Love ur content man been watching since the Arkham videos good content man. I’m so glad ur talking about shattered dimensions I remember it from my childhood it was so cool it made me love Spider-Man 2099 and I thought his suit was so badass and of course noir is fucking cool too. I was so happy to see Miguel in spider verse Oscar Isaac did a great job. Anyways yes this game was so cool the boss fights were awesome.
I love Spider-Man shattered dimensions it’s such a awesome game also the Easter egg with my girl mayday Parker the future spider girl was so cute in my opinion
this game was my dream which is spiderverse and i still know when i played SPIDERMAN 2000 as a kid and see the suits and then realize these are not just suits these are actual spiderman from another universe and since then it was my dream to see these spidey's together which this game is another reason it was still my dream to see multiple spiderman together. seriously if BEENOX got more time and nurturing then we would got a multiplayer which now been cancelled for the latest spiderman 2. this was an innovation that still counts as an inspiration for the making of the spiderverse movies.
Funnily enough, had Beenox stayed on for a bit longer over Insomniac replacing them in the sweatshop, we were gonna get remasters or possibly even remakes of Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time.
@ Honestly with how SM2 felt pretty rushed and all, I’d argue they’re better off backtracking into what makes a Spider-Man game. If insomniac ever gets the opportunity, SD & EOT should get a remake.
I remember playing this game so much as a twelve-year-old into my teens. And adult life all on the wii By the way I never got to play it on any other console
I'm still baffled how good this game's writing is (barring Miguel's characterization) considering Dan Slott wrote it. In fact, he did the Spider-Verse here better than his actual book!
@idfkimaclown Oh, I know. I've seen the game's story. Plus it helps that game was written by Miguel's creator Peter David. Granted, while Shattered Dimension's take isn't accurate to his personality, taken on its own merits, he's hilarious. Especially his banter with Doc Ock 2099.
I feel you on the Dodge mechanics, that's the one thing I didn't like in shattered dimensions, it made getting 100 combos a bit tricky, it was easier with ultimate for me. Had to get creative with the other 3.😅
I think this games writing is bad, but the story is very fun and bombastic full of great voice actors and phenomenal worlds full of life for comic fans.
@@mikesmith145it's one of the reasons, I don't like the writing each character in there own universe has a different way of speaking and writing for it some of the spider-men don't feel like themselves the only one that do is ultimate and amazing and noir Spidey 2099 feels completely out of character in this game cracking jokes inside of the costume isn't his thing but also the writing for some of it feels very iffy but hey that's just me.
@@demon_warrior870 oh 100%, if anything Peter David should’ve been the one to write the scriot, he did for edge of time and the difference is night and day.
@@mikesmith145 agreed while, for me I think the story isn't good in that game either I would of loved a Spider-Man 2099 game and even if peter david didn't write it I have seen comic writers write miguel and they are not peter david they do a good job did you see him fight monster's like a zombie and vampire and other characters along with that he got the venom symbiote it's really good. One thing I don't like, and I'm going off tangent I don't like the across the spider verse direction.
It's been over a decade since I played this game and I unfortunately sold this and Web of Shadows and they are rare to find now. I remember Edge of Time having a better story than this game but the gameplay might be better here. I don't really remember the combat being that great and the stealth as Noir could've been better but there's only so much of over a decade long memory I can use when judging this game.

Noir: “With 4 different Spider-man”
Ultimate: “One thing I know for sure”
2099: “Out of all of them”
Spider-Men: “I’m the Best!”
excelsior!
Another way to telll if Noir is sneaking or not is his posture. He crouches somewhat when in stealth and stands upright when in the light.
They need to remaster these older games, they'd be racking in the cash
On god bro what id pay to play web of shadows, edge of time, and shattered dimensions on the ps5
Licensing issues kept them from being remastered.
I'd buy it instantly, I'm super bored of Insomniac's Spidey games at this point
Same, I'd buy that shit on a heartbeat even if they go the Rockstar route and sell it full price.@@just_an_elli
Or just re-release them. It sucks you can't even play them on PC
Without Shattered Dimensions, we wouldn't have had the spider-verse!
Plus Spiderverse did reveal much of Mistress Doc Ock 2099.🤔
Wasn't the idea inspired by the last 2 episodes of the 90's cartoon?
@shizuwolf I looked it up and it's a bit of both, but Shattered Dimensions is what really got it.

@shizuwolf so it's more of Dan, being inspired by the game, that got Spider-Verse started.
You can still have the TV series as a contributor too.
Would’ve been fine with me. The whole multiverse crap needs to end
Everytime I’m bored aqua comes through
Frrr

I remember getting my cousin to play the noir levels for me as a kid. Mostly the vulture lvl since he scared the soul out of little kid me.

Eight legged fury is still one of the coolest moves in any spidey game to me
SAME
2:46 ayyyy! I’ve never seen his face before. What’s good bro?!
1:55 “what would Spider-Man be without his spider powers? He would be…man. Is that what you came here to play? Man 3?” 😂

This game was my introduction to deadpool
Me too. And when I saw the 1st time I thought he was “ ninja Spider-Man” 🤣 ahhh good times 😌
This is one of the best superhero videogames EVER. Fact.

AQUA LOOKIN GOOD DUDE ❤
This game is goated. I hope we get a remaster of this game soon because man I miss this game. Was one of my favorites when I was growing up.
One of my favorite Spider-Man games, Noir Spider-Man's world is dope and fun to play in. I need to get this game back in my collection.
jesus fucking christ that ad read 😂😂
Noir was always my favorite as a kid but I've always been a big stealth guy
It's also worth mentioning that the design for Mysterio was directly lifted from cut concept art from Web of Shadows.
STILL 1 OF THE BEST SPIDERMAN GAMES EVER💯🔥🔥
It was the very first of the Spiderverse Multiverse with a True Old Madame Web/Aunt May.
Well this is a surprise, but a welcomed one.
I hope the rumors about games like this are coming back.

0:50 because it’s just a legend
Really disappointed TH-cam didn't notify me about this video cuz this game is a banger. Also great analysis.
Been waiting on this one for a long time.
Shattered Dimensions walked so Into the spider-verse could run
I really really want to play this on my steam deck this the only Spider-Man game I never got to play
Shattered Dimensions is my favorite Spider-Man game. It’s not the best game, but it’s close.
17:35 The guy on the door, is he okay? 😅
This video has been selected to watch during dinner
This and Web of Shadows were my childhood
Where's the original thumbnail, Aqua? It was just here an hour ago 🤨
Idk I just let the A/B tester do its thing
Funnily enough, had Beenox stayed on for a bit longer over Insomniac replacing them in the sweatshop, we were gonna get remasters or possibly even remakes of Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time.

I see SM shattered dimensions love I immediately jump in

The things I would do for a remaster of this game...
nice video! What's the soundtrack used at the very end @ 20:07?
I think is the music in the upgrades menu
It plays in the upgrades/web of destiny screens. I believe its just called "track 3"
I remember playing this game so much as a twelve-year-old into my teens. And adult life all on the wii By the way I never got to play it on any other console
Thank you for not being cynical
I still think that it's ridiculous that there hasn't been another game where we play in a 2099 or noir setting.
i have it on the wii and i’m actually surprised how good it is, that is if you can handle 480p
I'm still baffled how good this game's writing is (barring Miguel's characterization) considering Dan Slott wrote it. In fact, he did the Spider-Verse here better than his actual book!

Had to get creative with the other 3.😅
Miss this game

the best spiderman game in the 360 era
Ah yes, back when the Spider-Verse concept wasn't overdone to death
remaster remaster remaster!!
Pretty sure you got almost every spider man game besides edge of time. WHAT DID THAT GAME DO TO YOU AQUA.
14 years later, this game is £65 on disc for 360, and £75 on disc for ps3 at my local cex ://
not being able to tell if you were in the dark or light in the noir dimension is just a you problem bro lol
Aqua did you ever play the prototype games? I’d love to see your opinion on them even though theyre a bit outdated 😭
