Particle board (aka press board): The worlds cheapest and crappiest furniture material. A scourge on the consumer for the last 50 years. Still a fascinating material, though.
I think it's more environmentally friendly to make the product out of actual wood and keep it for a lifetime of use, instead of buying these toxic glue and dust boards and throwing them into a landfill when they inevitably warp and crack in a few years.
Particle board meets the needs of American consumers, it is cheap (compared to wood) and can be mass produced into furniture from IKEA and other knock producers of inexpensive furniture. This furniture is not produced to last. It is in effect throw away furniture. This fits perfectly in the consumerist of the USA!
fun fact: the glue used out-gasses volatile organic compounds for months after the board is made, this makes particle board a known health risk for people with breathing problems. ( I still can't go into my kitchen from new cabinets 2 months after installation )
Plywood all the way !!!

Right on!!
I was amused at the 2:45 time mark when it was said the moisture content needed to be controlled or it would affect it's strength 🤣

Using polyurethane adhesive could eliminate formaldehyde release. But it cost more money. Formaldehyde can release from the board up to 20 years
