DVD wasn't as superior as we were lead to believe. Just like CDs, they certainly weren't indestructible. Renting one from your local Blockbuster was a bit of a lottery. Whilst the quality of a good DVD was much better (crisper sound and picture), rental discs were often scratched to buggery, causing them to stick/skip. VHS didn't have that shortfall. Whilst bonus material only came along with DVDs, the ability to do so could have easily been accomplished on video. They could have been added on after the feature title. It just wasn't a thing in those days. Studios only really started providing bonus content with DVDs to entice people to the new format.

I was obsessed w/ collecting CDs. My first love was cassette singles, but then CDs became the norm for me. If I really rocked w/ you, I'd buy every format except vinyl. I never collected vinyl. I was a huge Prince fan so I'd buy the singles/maxi-singles on cassette and CD and then turn around and buy the standard full cassettes and CDs. Mid '90s came around and I started collecting imports which were hella expensive. Tower and Virgin Megastore had the best selections for imports. I had to have the ones from the U.K., Japan, Germany, Austria, Australia, etcetera. Just wasting all of my lil' allowance. Few years later, folks decided that they wanted free music so free music applications started emerging. There's something so nostalgic about that lil' CD binder w/ all yo' favorite CDs. For me, it was: Cameron Giles' _Confessions of Fire,_ Usher Raymond's _My Way,_ Mystikal's _Unpredictable,_ DMX's _It's Dark and Hell is Hot,_ Mýa's s/t debut, Prince's _Crystal Ball,_ Maxwell's _Urban Hang Suite_ and just so much more. Fast forward to the download/mp3/ringtone era which pretty much phased out all of the major record stores. Who needs a CD? Nostalgia? Get over it! Ain't nobody luggin' no CDs around no more. You best get you some kinda mp3 player and keep it movin'. Nah, artists aren't getting paid for they work which makes them move on to different forms of entertainment. Reality tv and nah it's podcasts. Select major retailers are stocking CDs, but it's usually K-Pop, pop and country artists. You ain't gon find black artists unless it's Michael Jackson's or Bob Marley's greatest hits. Major labels ain't printing and pressing up no CDs for black artists. Miley Cyrus, P!nk, and Miranda Lambert can be on major labels and have they new CDs in stores. Normani and other sistas are told that "its not the right time."

Binge watching meant swapping your tapes or at least using a pirated copy of multiple movies on one tape (i have tapes with up to 1q hour capacity for vhs but that is probably a rarity). Often you'd have one in the rewinder while you were playing the second one. And its only during the early years of VHS you wouldn't have a lot unless you did that. It wouldn't take long for you to be able to find some in bargain bins or garage sales to easily accumulate a lot (albeit not as cheap as you can get them now) Some people did Binge watch vhs including myself (though now i haven't watched a vhs in the better part of a decade if not more), I used to bine watch the TMNT movie trilogy, or Muppets or Herbie movies or some others on the weekends after the cartoons were over if there wasn't a movie i liked on the air. Nowadays i don't really pick up vhs (unless its free), as i go for DVD and Blu ray for movies i want or at least find interesting enough to pick up (unlike some i don't pick up every random dvd or blu ray movie i see like some collectors)
