      Same here. I’m 62 and my first 7.3 with the same mileage. TH-cam sure is a great place for mods or repairs . Definitely want new shocks now.

      I was in the same boat a few years ago and there are a couple of TH-cam channels for a 7.3 that are worth your time, Custom Works is literally a 7.3 god his page is perfect for 7.3 newbies

      That made the biggest difference in overall ride quality.

    Nice job! Pretty sure that impact will torque it down way past spec though. It's like 76 for the front ones and I think 46 for rear

      Yeah, have to have it turned all the way down and count your ugadugas, two ugadugas for the front one ugaduga for the rear.

    I was looking at buying the Bilstein steering stabilizer and some of the reviews says it causes their truck to want to drift to the left and that when the end of the ram is not bolted, it tries to push out, when a stabilizer should stay in whatever position you move it to and let go.
    Did you notice whether that was the case for yours when jnstalling?installing?
    And is the part number 24-158848?

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually improved my steering quite a bit. Here's a direct link to the stabilizer I ordered. amzn.to/3KGPdb4

      Boot up or down? Here's the offcial answer from Bilstein themselves: academy.bilsteinus.com/knowledge/do-i-install-boot-up-or-boot-down

    Just noticed my 2001 doesn’t have that front stabilizer bar?

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've seen a few of them that don't. Junkyards should have them.

    • @ZPrezton
      @ZPrezton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProjectTimeGarage thanks . After researching a little more, it looks like they sell a bracket to add on and the mounting area by the wheel might need to be drilled a little bigger . Mine was bent but another guy used vise grips to bend it back. Thanks just waiting on the parts

    • @ZPrezton
      @ZPrezton ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ProjectTimeGarage it fit perfectly. had to bend the bracket by the wheel a little. the hole was correct. the bracket was suggested by another amazon buyer on the stabilizer shock. works great feels much better

    Idk how u can even tell with the shocks i hand a front a rear one broke just hanging there. I replaced it and didnt even notice a difference

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I noticed it primarily at Interstate speeds when you hit a bump, like going over a bridge, etc. The frontend would shudder. With the shocks, you just feel the bump, then it settles down.

  • @elbarbasshow
    @elbarbasshow 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So you had to compress the front shocks?

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Ideally the shock will be compressed about halfway at normal ride height. Otherwise, it woudl bottom out, or run out of travel.

    Hey brother how much of lift do you have im about to get mine all set up just ordered turbo, injectors, bellowed up pipes, pusher intake, ALL Mishimoto cooling system including thermostat, billet thermostat housing, riffraff billet plenums, S&B cold air intake, XDP 200amp alternator, XDP starter, driven diesel regulated fuel return (with fuel bowl delete), fass 140g pump/water separator, 51 gallon titan fuel tank, billet sump and quite a bit of other things to go with it too long to list. But the next thing I want done is lift tires and wheels don't want to go over 35's and don't really want a high lift either. I've seen some guys do a leveling kit and fit 35's but I don't know how exactly. Most kits say they will only clear 33's. Help a brother out here.

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go to my channel and click on videos. I have a full episode on lifting a red 7.3 truck and putting 35" tires on it. It's complete with Amazon links to the kit I used. Give me a shout if I can answer any questions.

    Hello there, wondering what front bumper that is. Looking for one for mine and like the look of yours. Many thanks

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a copy of a Ranch Hand bumper. Not nearly as good quality, but it does the job.

      Uhhh, there are NO blocks on the front of this truck. They are individual spring packs......geez.

      I’ll kidding aside what are those tapered blocks under your front leaf springs? I’ve seen that on one other super duty?

    Is it me or did they got installed upside down? Mine are the other way around..

    • @ProjectTimeGarage

      I addressed that in the video and put a link to their website where it explains it. Per Bilstein, their shocks always install with the writing oriented up. Looked strange to me too.

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm betting a junkyard is your best bet. Not sure what area you're in, but we occasionally have the Super Duty trucks pop up here and there in the U-Pull-It type yards.

    Nice job! I got the same shocks for my F350...bought to do this job too. Was wondering why no shock boot on the steering stabilizer?

    • @ProjectTimeGarage
      @ProjectTimeGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was actually wondering why the stabilizer didn't come with a boot myself. The stock one didn't have one either. I may end up just buying one for it. Seems like out of all the shocks, that one sees the most grime.
