Love it! my daughter is a Firstie this year and I've been begging her to do this for her final year. Alas, she won't. So, on behalf of other mid parents...THANK YOU!

I would be alright going to any college, but the Naval Academy is the only college I want to go to. every other college is basically the same, and I'd pick one based on technicalities, but if I get into USNA, then I'd be truly happy...well, at least as happy as a plebe can be. I can't wait to apply next year for the class of 2022.

Try to get a varsity letter in a sport. Have a really high gpa and don't get into any legal trouble that's a big no no

Far more casual than I remember. Of course, the women hadn't been admitted in my time.

      For now:
      1) Do well in school, particularly math and science classes. They look for a well-rounded applicant - you don’t have to be top of your class, but in the end they are an engineering school so you can’t be weak in math or science. You don’t have to be an engineer when you get there - the split is about 80% technical or science majors (what we now call STEM), versus 20% non-technical majors, but everyone takes math, science, and at least some introductory engineering classes (while STEM majors will take several humanities courses). Besides math and science they historically look at the other traditional subject such as English and history, maybe economics, social studies, and languages as well.
2). If you can, play sports even if not at the varsity level. About 90% of the incoming class played at least one sport at the varsity level and about half the class were varsity team captains. It doesn’t have to be a sport that Navy competes in, but you should be able to demonstrate an athletic background. At Annapolis everyone participates in sports every day, whether varsity, club or intramural, in addition to regular phys ed classes.
      3) Finally it seems that some involvement in extra-curricular activities helps nowadays though it isn’t vital; I had no ecas when I applied. The biggest two things are academics (both your HS transcript and SATs/ACTs) and athletics.
Later, as you get closer (maybe sophomore or junior year) you should contact the admissions office and they can give you some guidance and advice on where you stand and what would help.

Georgia Prewitt there are no requirements, but aim for a solid GPA, good sat scores, and leadership and sport extra curriculars

Very envious! Plebe with such kind of 'barracks"life. The Ivy League service academies are so sophisticated in their military academic life unlike some service academies. They are like in a regimented university where the difference with the civilian universities is the students of the later can go home and do their own activities but the former can not as their activities are programmed and they must follow.
