If you don’t get his sense of humor you might get the impression he just sees it as a job. But he lost 25 lbs to get better, he changed his diet, he lifts weights after EVERY game even the triple overtime playoff game v Portland, he watches coaching seminars and sends comments to the coaches, he plays almost every game even when Malone wants him to sit. He loves basketball, playing it the right way, his teammates and his family.

Oh Nikola loves BBALL....he attented few coaches seminars here from estinguished Serbian coaches as Željko Obradovic...if someone attented BBall seminars should know how boring is that you not go there if you do not like BBALL and i mean really love...he just dont like all of side things that came from playing in NBA which is we all agree awefull and dont have many in common with BBALL....

He probably loves basketball, but hates the media circus and interpersonal conflicts that come with being a basketball player.

@@PlanetOfTheApes999 Probably, Draymond Green spoke about it on the Paul George podcast, it's something that a lot of player underestimate before coming to the league, you don't just play basketball, you have to handle media, trainings, travels away from your family, stress from the competition, expectactions on your performance etc...
I think Jokic handles it very well, for some reason some player put less effort than him in improving their game and body but just because of some images of him after the finals he gets this etiquette that he doesn't care about it.

Tony Parker knew exactly what to do after his career. When retirement came, he enjoyed the moment. Don’t have to wake up early anymore, just do what you want, he prepared everything years before. Interesting similarity: TP owns race horses too 😅 but he’s also a winery owner, a passion he shares with Pop.

He loves the game, his teammates and being in a team setting.
He hates talking to media, the incessant drama/bs, social media.
He's a cross between Tim Duncan and Kawhi. Timmy supposedly is a funny guy in private and Kawhi narrative is he's an android.
NBA media know how to deal with the narcissists, the prima donnas, the schemers, the LeBron's, the passive aggressive social media tweeters. If they're not they don't know what to do.

Not trying to take anything away from athletes. The guys who make it in the league earned all the benefits that come with it. It’s just a humbling reality if you compare a sports stars offseason to how much time you get off as a regular person.

Nikola likes to play basketball, otherwise he would never have picked up a basketball. He likes the sports team and the team atmosphere, seeing the team as his extended family. He doesn't like training, (and who does?), he doesn't like excessive attention and unnecessary wasting of time, which is why he can't spend more time with the people he'd rather be with. When sport becomes a profession, it becomes less of a love and more of an obligation. When something is a liability, it is less attractive. Professional basketball in the USA requires more commitments both off the basketball court and the game itself. That's what Nikola doesn't like, and what bothers him the most.

Why would he hate basketball? It's a job. Not a passion. He's a professional. Asians and Europeans are fans of tennis, football and cricket. It's rare to be see an emotional wreck like Kobe in those sports.

Being a sports journalist and analyst, and hating Jokic like this means not having a clue about your job and completely misunderstanding basketball as a team sport. Jokić is hated by journalists who do not see a big difference between basketball, bodybuilding and circus! Basketball is not a Hollywood blockbuster in eight sequels with faceless special effects or a plastic BigMac! Real basketball requires a sufficient IQ!
