Embiid dodged second game against the Nuggets in 2023 season because he outplayed Jokic in the first game of the season. He did it so he would have an argument to win an MVP award and he refused to take a risk and play the second game and risk losing that argument. That right there should have given Jokic MVP award. League should not award cowards

Jokic plays much better defense now then when he first came in the league. He has great hands and gets a lot of steals and deflections. He always moves into good position to help teammates. He's not Hakeem or Bill Walton around the rim but he had several 3 block games during the playoffs, and he always plays better rim defense in the second half and at the end of games.
Nikola seems to try to avoid fouls by NOT going for blocked shots in the first half, but then changes strategy when the game is on the line. He's had a remarkable number of game saving blocks already in his career for a guy who supposedly can't defend.
The one thing Jokic doesn't do on defense -- or offense -- is rest. Hello Luka!

Jokic is 28 years old. This is the prime time for a basketball player, because he can gather a lot of experience until that point, while being still young and strong, not prone to injury. Lebron, MJ were 28 when he won his first championship, Curry 27.
To this era, Jokic seems the best center. In an era when the NBA seems to loose the importance of traditional positions, like power forward or center. His game is just like that, he is playmaker, power forward, 3 point shooter and center combined.
However, there is only one thing which is more ridiculous than the constant belitteling of him in the media before and that's the hype around him now. One of the best, the best etc. He is one of the best, now he has won a championship, he has achieved real results thats clear. But even with that he will have to do this consistently and for a couple of years, elevating his team. Shaq has won 4 championships, Tim Duncan 5, Jabbar 6. Chamberlain has put up crazy numbers for a very long time. Jokic still has to deliver such a good performance for a long time to get mentioned among these greats.

There is a legit argument for other people as MVP. My vote goes to Jokic. He is the best offensive player in the league. One of the best all time. But his defense, although it has improved a lot, will never be up there with some of the other MVP candidates. Defense is harder to quantify, so there is room for debate. But there is no question that Nikola is incredibly valuable to his team, and that they would not be as good with someone else in the center position. Of course, he really doesn't play the center position. He plays point guard, but he's big enough to drive to the basket or play low post. He's a phantom that way, a giant phantom.

You'll never get that in basketball. It's ridiculous. Look at Steve Nash and Bill Russell. Their games couldn't be more opposite. Yet they were both legit MVP candidates. Why? Because both had games that turned relatively weak teams and improved them dramatically. ...and, russell of course, kept his team on top for more than a decade. How do you quantify the mental pressure Russell put on offenses? How do you quantify any point guard's ability to motivate his team and execute the right play/pass? You can't. You just have to watch the games, and see the results in the W column.

When someone talks about basketball player capabilities as a media but didn't know about advanced stats, they are a quack.
We heard some so-called analysts foolishly using FG% as a scoring efficiency measurement instead of TS% or eFG%. Or checking the assist and saying a player is the best passer without knowing about assist-to-turnover ratio. Honestly, for casual discussion, this doesn't matter. But when this kind of quack deserves all-NBA or MVP vote, they are screwing the real ones.
Advanced stats exist for a reason, and it is proven to be correct all the time. Real expert analysts saying bad things about Westbrook despite averaging triple double because the advanced stats of Westbrook is bad. It is proven that his team isn't really going anywhere in the playoff.
Back to the main issue, analysts said Joker is better than Embiid by his advanced stats. It is proven now. Jokic was winning it all.
Steph is the best shooter. Check his TS%. Crazy number. And some quack said Jordan Poole is Steph successor when JP3 efficiency is nowhere near Steph. JP3 efficiency is just average. Those who can read advanced stats understand.

There are many reasons. As a 41st peak he exposes the wrong draft system; he seems unathletic (he is certainly not), he has no six-pack and no evident muscle definition, he does not jump monkey high; he has correct principles, he is a family man with a balanced life, he has IQ over the roof and so he's not one of the brainless arrogant and flamboyant "stars"; he is white (what a huge mistake indeed), he is not American (what a huge mistake indeed); he does not like the American life (life in Serbia is paradise, I lived and worked there and I know). All in all, Jokić breaks every wrong NBA stereotype and this is why he is disliked by the establishment.

According to Mike O'Connor: "Joel Embiid is a better player on a better team...." Question: if Embiid is a better player on a better team, how come he can't get out of the 2nd round in the playoffs?🤔😂
I'll answer the question: Because in the playoffs teams design a defense to stop Embiid, often with smart double-teams, and he's not a very good decision maker or passer so he fails to adjust.
When teams try to stop Jokic with double-teams .... they get destroyed. 🙂 He adjusts and beats those teams with great decisions and mind-blowing passing.

Chamberlain dominated because he was a monster compared to all the competition. Jokic is much smaller and much more talented.

Funny to hear from Da Marcus Cousins ... who was a dominant offensive player and a truly awful defensive center. Cousins was a pretty good passer for a big man so definitely had skills. But ultimately he was best known for getting his coaches fired and big time tantrums. 😂

He's good but not Shaq,Hakeem good. NBA just forgot to defend a dominant big man.this might be a good thing.NBA might remember to give attention on inside power game

The NBA has become a joke during the last decade in general...everything is designed to score more and a good defence play became impossible according to the rule changes.
the players of today have no right to compare themselves with the players from the past because they are playing a totally different game.

A sort of sloppy looking jump hook is hard for us Americans to comprehend. We want a two hand flush. Joker shoots some of the most sissy looking shots you'll ever witness, the problem is they go in. That's two points just like the power dunk. He does is with shocking regularity. That means it ain't luck.
