The director (and voice of Bowler Hat Guy) Stephen J. Anderson was himself adopted at an early age. In his teens, he decided he wanted to find his parents. His adoptive parents said that he already had enough on his plate with high school, so if he waited until he was 18, they'd help him find is bio parents... but by then... he didn't care. His adoptive family was his family, and the past and what might have been no longer held any interest for him. THAT'S why this movie is so oddly beautiful and personal. Another fun fact: "Keep moving forward" was in the movie before they ever found that quote by Walt Disney. Toward the end of finishing the movie, Anderson was in a hair salon to get a trim. The magazines they had there were ancient, but one had an interview with Disney. Anderson came across the passage with "we keep moving forward", ran back to the studio, showed the team, and they added to the pre-credits just before the film was finished. Also... I may or may not LOVE this movie. ^_^;
I have the dvd with that shows behind-the-scenes context and was just so inspired by how much love and passion was put into this movie with such a brillant moto
This movie is so underrated!! I used to watch this as a little kid and I still listen to the music (even though it makes me cry). It's one of my favorite movies just based on nostalgia lol
I don't know about other languages, but it was translated in Latin American Spanish too, with his voice being "El Puma" Jose Luis Rodriguez, and they also replaced Tom's photo with his lmao
@@tsukimilo It's done in every language: all the voice actors/dubbing actors of older Lewis also receive the painted portrait when the Robinson family is displayed.
If you listen carefully in the first part of the movie you’ll hear certain sounds: a slippery foot, running, and a knock. The movie reveals this later in the movie. Also Tom Selick voiced Wilbur’s dad.
This movie came out about eight months after my wife and I became a blended family. We snuck out to see this while the kids were in school. We absolutely balled and took the kids that night.
Crazy I just watched this the day I signed my son’s adoption paperwork. After 7 homes, he’s finally happy that he never has to leave. 3 sons adopted now! Underrated movie for sure!
The part where Louis says goodbye to the grandparents Bud and Lucile, you can just see on their expressions they're remembering every day they had with Louis as a kid and know that he will have the same with them soon. It's so subtle but so well done.
This was definitely one of those Disney films that was very underappreciated when it first came out. As someone who was adopted and never knew my biological family I very much felt Lewis's pain throughout the movie and how much devotion he had to finding his birth mother. And when I was little I felt sad that he decided not to find out who she really was. But as an adult I completely understand and I had amazing parents who treated me well and though we weren't the same skin color I love them just as much as any child can love their parents. This movie still makes me cry though in the end
This is one of my favourite Disney movies! Very underappreciated and maybe not the best regarding the animation, but the story gets me every time; the feels, man! And the humour as well 😁 "We don't look backwards for very long. We *keep moving forward* , opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious... And curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." ♥️
Now that I rewatched it, I wonder why Lewis's wife and parents didn't recognize him, even if he was a kid a long time ago for them, don't they look through family photos🤔
This movie got me through the worst time in my life. I lost my father to cancer the year this movie came out and it helped me cope with the loss. For the 15 year anniversary of his death i got two tattoos on my pointer fingers, "Keep Moving Forward" and "The Hardest Part Is Over" I think of him everyday, mostly with happiness these days ❤ thank you for watching this movie and sharing with us
the opening of this movie is so great in its simplicity. You have this gentle vibraphone playing, and it just fades in the title against blackness. I love it. I wish Disney hired Danny Elfman to do their scores more. His style is so beautiful
I highly recommend reacting to Disney's Bolt next! It may be the most quotable movie I've ever seen and genuinely so hilarious! Probably 50% of my conversations with my siblings are lines from Bolt.
I am so glad you reacted to this movie! This movie was my childhood! One of my favorite scenes you reacted to was the big reveal at the orphanage. The first time I watched this movie, I figured out the villain was Goob early on, but did not put together Louis was Wilbur’s dad until that moment. So, it was cool for me to watch your reaction and the moment you pit together Louis is Wilbur’s dad at the dinner scene and be surprised to learn the villain is adult Goob at the reveal. Also, you are the first person I have ever seen that called that Doris was the true villain and was using Goob before the memory scanner reveal. Fun fact: When Louis lists all the members of the Robinson family, Wilber said Cornelius looked like Tom Selleck. Tom Selleck voices Cornelius. Amazing work!
This movie means a lot to me. I know exactly how Lewis feels. I'm also adopted. My sixteen-year-old mother left me in an orphanage. More than that, i don't know about my biological family. I would do anything to remember everything about my past. 😭💔
What a great movie with an incredible message! Kind of sad, though, because they don't make'm like that anymore. Such a nice reaction, too. I had a coworker who was adopted. Around that time, there was a constant stream of news accounts about people wanting to know who their biological parents were etc. Or so it seemed, and sometimes the outcomes weren't so nice. So, I asked him if he ever felt that way. He told me: "Why would I want to do that? I know who my parents are." I thought, yeah, that's the way to be.
This is a perfect example of misunderstanding driving the plot. The explanation actually can't just be simply explained and therefore solving everything. I love it❤
When I first watched this movie I didn't like it at first. But the longer the movie went on the more it grew on me and the deep message behind it really stood out to me (I'm someone who struggles so badly with failure). The family celebrating failure really was incredible and I wish we'd celebrate attempts more than successes.
As an adoptee, this film touches my heart so much. Sentiment aside, Oscar you have the had the best reactions I have seen for this flick. Your laughs, faces and expressions...priceless.
This movie is so underrated and its messages are so important. Don't stay stuck in the past, sometimes your real friends and family were there the whole time you just never saw them, success only comes after failure, learn from your mistakes. Its all so important to remember.
So my parents put this movie on for me (I hadn’t seen it yet) when I was depressed because I didn’t get the Disney internship I wanted so badly. By the end I was in tears because I finally understood why they put it on for me. The quote at the end felt like it was just for me. Looking back on it now watching this video I’m so glad I didn’t get it. A couple years later I would get it, meet my husband a week into it and the rest worked out the way it was supposed to. The failure you get now may help mold your future for the better. Just keep moving forward.
Fun fact! Young Franny is TOPH! (Same voice actress) This movie is great and extremely underrated. People think the "he is the dad" is a too easy to spot twist, but thats clearly on purpose. The real twist is him meeting his adoptive mum in the end, that's always a joy to rewatch! I remember loving that movie as a kid. I wish it was more well known and recognised. It's simple and interesting, very well written and has a great message. Also it handles time travel and other science fiction concepts incredibly well. It certainly was nerdy awakening for many kids in my generation 😂 #keepmovingforward 🎉
I always cry at the end during Little Wonders, its just that sort of cry that everything is gonna be okay and that everything turned out okay, as a child who had a tough chilhood it always gets me because it can get better. If you loved this you should also watch Disney's Bolt it was also in disneys experimental era and makes me cry just as much as Meet the Robinsons.
Yay! You did my favorite childhood movie! It still makes me cry at the end! As a teacher, I definitely use clips from this movie to show my students at the beginning of the year to elicit discussions about having a growth vs. fixed mindset. SOOO GOOD! 😊
Actually, this is my favorite Disney film. I love the message, I love the heart, I love the music... and it is fully inhabited by the best of Walt Disney's own beliefs about what is important and how to succeed, making it truly a *Disney* film.
As strange as it sounds, Bowler Hat Guy is one of my favorite villains. He's actually rather smart (in his own way), and 22:30 showcases this. His first idea (blow it up) would have ended in failure (Lewis's death), and he REALIZED it, and moved on to think of something else. His next idea (turn Lewis into a duck) was rather ridiculous, but he explores it anyway for a moment. And then he comes to the realization that 1: he doesn't know how or have the technology to do that, and 2: he has no need for the end result. He needs Lewis *as he is,* not Lewis transformed. Many villains would have stopped at the initial idea, and thrown themselves into making it happen and repeatedly bashing themselves against a 'wall' with little thought on how to reverse things later, rather than working within their own boundaries. To actually accomplish his goal, he used the tools he had available. His first execution of idea didn't succeed simply due to poor timing (had Lewis been alone, it would have been a simple matter to have the frog walk up to him, and then switch the hat to Lewis's head). His second execution of idea didn't succeed, but that is due to the number and ingenuity of the family rather than true failure on his part. He may not have a 300+ IQ, but the fact that he actually logics his way through his plans and evaluates their feasibility puts him ahead of a lot of villains out there.
If I'm remembering right, the lines "What does Cornelius look like?" "...Tom Sellick." were written into the script purely as a joke, before Cornelius's voice had been cast. Then they reached out to Tom Sellick to see if he was interested and he actually accepted! So it stayed in the movie, plus Tom's face is used in the portrait during the family tree scene. I don't have a source for this though, so if anyone can back that story up, it'd be cool.
This film is one of my favorite animated movies of all time, but I've only seen it all the way through once because the first time I watched this I couldn't stop crying. Watching your reaction to it now has me in tears again almost as much as when I first watched it. This film has so much heart, I love it so much.
Even though I have parents, I had to live on my own from the age of 11 years old. I watched this back when I was 7 years old and I bawled my eyes out. This movie is so much more to me than a silly animated film. This movie learned me a motto and give me inspiration that even though times are hard mostly... There is always a brighter future ahead if only you keep moving forward. Loved this reaction and again, bawled my eyes out. Thanks Oscar! 🤙🏼❤
We love this movie...I always cry at the end of it. The quote at the end is a favorite of mine and my daughters, we always say it walking out of the door for the first day of school! It's a great mindset!
I haven't been in foster care or what not, but I love the message for kids, teens, and adults about adoption and "Keep Moving Forward". Its written so well and how everything works out in the end when you look out for your friends too instead of putting all your focus to the past. If we keep on trying, everything will work out for you too. Its so good.
I was a foster kid in Australia, this is my favourite movie ever. It hits me so hard everytime I watch it, in a bitter-sweet way. I was like Louis in my teen years, I had no hope for my future but this movie truly inspires my soul. The song in the end montage is one that still gets me teary everytime I hear it. Because now, I'm 21 and adopted by my soul family. My life is the best it's ever been. I'll always keep moving forward. ❤
This is one of those movies where as a kid you dont get the sad themes until you're older like in scene on the roof "i have no future!" That shit hits hard😢. Also another dinosaur movie you should watch is walking with dinosaurs.
This movie I loved so much bcuz of the fact that it was about adoption and finding a family your family. Cuz I was adopted so this movie resonated with me a lot I loved it ❤ lol STILL Love It!
This movie is one of my childhood favorites. The last scene at the end makes me tear up every time I watch it. The feeling of knowing you're in the right place, and even though there's so much to do and so much hard work ahead of you to achieve your goals, you're happy to do it because you know it's where you're meant to be. I love this movie!
There's a theory that the lady in the orphanage (Mildred), his adopted mother and his actual mother were all friends. I couldn't see hoe those Maths would work out but it doesn't matter! All you need to do is "keep moving forward!"
the ending of this movie always makes me cry. Such an underrated Disney film. It has such a positive optimistic message, and I feel like that’s so rare today.
I really enjoy your reactions and love the positivity from your videos, as well as how insightful and reflective you are! This was one of those movies I've seen many times as a kid but I didn't really understand the significance of it until I rewatched it when I was a bit older. But it's definitely been a while and I forgot how good it is. Actually, this video came at just the right time for me - I'm currently going through some setbacks (job related) and it's been so demotivating, so this popping up was almost like the universe telling me, "hey remember to keep moving forward." So thank you for sharing this movie reaction with us
What this movie has always represented to me is optimism! So many portrayals of the future are grim and bleak. But this one is so optimistic and inspires me as an artist and a creative to keep making new things and make the world better!
It's a little creepy but definitely a better future. I'd like an in-between between dystopia sad cyberpunk fallout and creepy prefer grassland with skyscrapers in odd shapes, with strange techniques and ideas.
I like how Wilbur has the capacity to be as smart like his parents. He's just still a kid and inexperienced so that makes him do moronic things like dragging his dad from the past to the future just to prove a point that he really is from the future and forgetting to lock the garage door at night.
i love your reactions with the reveals hehe this is really peak story telling for Disney. done really well. i always cry at the end, that music is just perfect. I always feel like crying when i hear it hehe
This is my absolute favorite Disney movie! It's quirky, funny, creepy, goofy, but yet so inspiring. As a teacher, I love the message about failure. We don't learn and grow by not failing. The other message about who your family is brings tears to my eyes every time!
I can't believe you reacted to this movie. It's just one of those quotable movies that is also so forgettable at the same time. No matter how many times I've watched it, It's always a new experience for me. I don't know how I can forget how the movie starts and plays out and yet will never forget the caffeine patch or the dinosaur's only line. I got a nice little bit of nostalgia going through this with you, so thank you.
"Meet the Robinsons" has been one of my favorite Disney films since the first time I watched it. It's whacky, the animation actually kind of works with the style of it, and it's just kind of beautiful.
This movie makes me cry because I'd often think "I hate my life I wish I could go back and undo this or that" and the movie says if we could see our future, it'd be good enough that we'd choose not to change the past for fear of loosing (parts of) it. Now I'm older and have my own family and I still sometimes wish I'd given up and wish I could undo things. Still waiting for that "happy future" that's supposed to make it all worth it. :(
As an adopted kid who loves to create, this is one of my favorite Disney movies (only Ratatouille beats it) Bowler Hat Guy's complete incompetence at being a villain (to the point even mind controlled beings criticize him) makes me crack up.
I love that you reacted to this 💜 My daughters and I watched this movie so many times, especially during weekends doing their hair. They're 20 and 17 now so now I'm all in my feelings thinking about my babies who aren't babies anymore lol
Found family stuff always gets me because I was a baby that got adopted and the love from my mom and dad was just the same as I’d seen in any other family. ❤ it’s important to normalise that love has nothing to do with blood
I finished watching the video and I thought your comment was fantastic, this movie was a great pillar for me when I was a child, I kept imagining that maybe I would have the chance to have a future as great as Louis' and that comforts me to this day
Meet The Robinsons is a movie I used to watch on local television when there was a special on Saturdays or Sundays for cartoons. The message really stuck with me. "Keep Moving Forward" which I would later learn is a tenent on practicing "Mindfulness" and to stay in the moment, be aware, and that the past is a reflection that can show you what you can improve on in the future. Keep going and happiness is something you make for yourself. You create it. Your reaction to your circumstance is something you have control over it. It also was the test build for Disney. It proved they could make good 3D movies after Chicken Little underperformed. And the movie made bank on home video release. Proving to Disney they had it in them to approach 3D movies with care and the Disney fire that made them a monolith in entertainment. Also Wilbur's "That is an excellent question" line is inbeded into my head and I still say it to this day as an adult.
What happened to The Bowler Hat version of Goob is even more disturbing because it implies the moment Louis goes back to the past and changes the outcome, that version of Goob will never have existed. The moment Louis looks up, he's gone. Which can be taken as his essence disappearing and he's erased from existence.
He actually gets to see his mom, at the end where the scientist lady uses the memory machine where she's getting married.. His mom was one of the bridesmaids!
The director (and voice of Bowler Hat Guy) Stephen J. Anderson was himself adopted at an early age. In his teens, he decided he wanted to find his parents. His adoptive parents said that he already had enough on his plate with high school, so if he waited until he was 18, they'd help him find is bio parents... but by then... he didn't care. The fact that you said “you need two knives” for the pb&j problem is facts and I agree wholeheartedly.
Luckily for the invention, it fixes the example problem Lewis gives as well as the 2 knives issue

Oscar looks so much like Wilbur he should do a cosplay of him. All he'd need is the tshirt
It was chaotic bcuz that’s how some families are they’re chaotic in the best way. That’s the family’s charm ❤
I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH!!! So glad you reacted to this underrated masterpiece!! It has such unique characters and plot, simply amazing
I really forgot how amazing this movie was!! I'm so grateful I got to watch it alongside you! What a wonderful reaction
Side note: if you ever dress up for Halloween, or whatever, you'd make an awesome Lewis!!!
I would have liked a post credit scene showing Goob’s future success.
I love this movie!
this is one of those movies I appreciate more as an adult then a kid.
There's a theory that the lady in the orphanage (Mildred), his adopted mother and his actual mother were all friends. I couldn't see hoe those Maths would work out but it doesn't matter! All you need to do is "keep moving forward!"
omg this movie is so good, i remember my younger self watching the dvd weekly
the ending of this movie always makes me cry.
Actually, this video came at just the right time for me - I'm currently going through some setbacks (job related) and it's been so demotivating, so this popping up was almost like the universe telling me, "hey remember to keep moving forward." So thank you for sharing this movie reaction with us
This is one of my favorite Disney movies, I love the Keep Moving Forward inspiration and how funny and heartwarming it is.
Toph’s voice actor voices young Franny while adult Franny is voiced by kim possible the green lady villain shego i think
God, that ending song still makes me tear up
Rest in peace
Walt Disney 1901-1966
Roy O Disney 1893-1971
and Adam West 1928-2017
I can't believe you reacted to this movie. It's just one of those quotable movies that is also so forgettable at the same time. No matter how many times I've watched it, It's always a new experience for me. I don't know how I can forget how the movie starts and plays out and yet will never forget the caffeine patch or the dinosaur's only line. I got a nice little bit of nostalgia going through this with you, so thank you.
This is one of my favourite movies 😭❤️ it's such an unappreciated gem ❤ I'm so glad you watched this ❤❤❤ made my day
"Meet the Robinsons" has been one of my favorite Disney films since the first time I watched it. It's whacky, the animation actually kind of works with the style of it, and it's just kind of beautiful.
One of my favorite movies. I'll rewatch it as a comfort flick once a year or so.
Thank you for all these reactions. They have been getting me through my last 2 bouts of covid, so thanks for the much needed entertainment!
I love this movie. I don’t know why but the ending always makes me cry
I grew up watching this movie and wow it still holds up, I love the family love
As an adopted kid who loves to create, this is one of my favorite Disney movies (only Ratatouille beats it)
Bowler Hat Guy's complete incompetence at being a villain (to the point even mind controlled beings criticize him) makes me crack up.
This movie is masterfully written, it still holds up and is so genuinely funny
I started crying when goob said “ mr steak your my only freind” and when he got beat up! lol
42:20 I love this. It's so obvious in hindsight too hahaha
I love your reactions, they are so raw and funny.
One of the most underrated Disney movies!! I love this storyline soooo much! Little Wonders brings me to tears every time I hear it, even in reactions
Thank you for watching one of my top 5 movies. You gave one of the best reactions I've ever seen.
Genuinely one of my favorite movies of all time, like legit top five, It’s so good.
Bro can we just forget the fact that wilburs mom is SO PRETTY LIKE A DISNEY PRINCESS! She is probably my favorite character❤!
This is such a gem! So glad you reacted to this 😊
I finished watching the video and I thought your comment was fantastic, this movie was a great pillar for me when I was a child, I kept imagining that maybe I would have the chance to have a future as great as Louis' and that comforts me to this day
43:45 This movie is absolutely amazing! I can't believe my parents didn't let me watch it when I was growing up! I love this!
fun fact. Toph's VA voiced the wife as a kid
This is inspired by the book of the same author of “Rise of the Guardians” ❤ “Lost Ollie” and “Epic” are also by him.
This movie and The Rescuers are the reason I want to adopt!
I still listen to Little Wonders it's so good
He actually gets to see his mom, at the end where the scientist lady uses the memory machine where she's getting married..
His mom was one of the bridesmaids!
Is that canon or just a fan theory?
