I had a 300 hp L10 in a 94 triaxle L9000 dump truck. A sweet ride. Use to gross out at 80000 lbs 28 tons of gravel a turn. Had to shift an8LL like a 13 speed. But I'd be doing 75 mph on the interstate.

Lovely little engine, nice slow gear changes,less shock , wear on clutch and gearbox. Roarty, without the silencers(mufflers). Modern day wagons are crap, just washing machines with wheels added.

I used to ride compressed natural gas buses with this exact engine. Not sure if it was a LTA10G with the CELECT computer but damn they sure got THIS LOUD...
You probably haven't heard of ERF but they were British trucks that had L10's in them and they sounded just like this when some had straight pipes. Later ERF's had M11's or EC12's in them.
The L10 wouldn't have pulled it, my company got stuck with a couple of them, in beautiful Pete's no less, and they were garbage, I literally got passed by a bicyclist on a mountain pass😂
@@mdlclassworker3384 we several L10 celect with 350 Hp and ISM with 405 Hp mated to 12 spd twin splitter eaton or 16spd eaton permissible load on a three axle semi- trailer is 30 tonnes over here which works out to around 66k Lb they'd outpull most of the trucks on the highway and very reliable
@@mdlclassworker3384 I plow with 8-16’s (8 16” bottoms) with my 1985 Steiger KR1290 with a 290hp L10. It pulls it just fine. Though I’d have to say that a straight stack would sound great!....... for about an hour. Lol. It’s at the front corner of the cab. It’s loud enough with that huge muffler.

We have a 85 359 with an l10 that's sounds just as boss as this one . It was way louder with the 5 inch pipe but I just couldnt stand 12 to 14 hours in that noise

Si te da lástima que no fabrican esos motores , a mí también , pero no te preocupes que después del L10 viene en camino el X10 Cummins, con muy alta tecnología , con sistema de inyección de alta presión , pistones con cabeza de acero para soportar una alta presión de combustión , y 1650 libras pie de torque , pasa por encima del ISM y remplazará al X12 y más

This old truck sounds tough!! Thats how a truck is supposed to sound. What transmission do you have and what rears are you running? I have an old LTL9000 with an L10, 4.11 rears and 9 speed transmission. I've been thinking about straight piping it. I also thought I'd swap the 9 speed out for an 18 speed.
I’m buying a truck with an L10 in it, 330 horsepower and 950 torque, have you had much of an issue pulling with it? This looked like it didn’t struggle, how heavy were you? I’m not going to max it out, I’m thinking maybe 67k gross?
It was 80,000 lbs I had it turned up it's not a powerful motor at all but it will keep up with the rest of you have them geared lower for pulling they will hang with all the big engines but gear them up to much it will make them dead
L10 is legendary sound. Great engine.

Turn around 9 speed "old school 9 od" in the dash 4.10s it's perfect will haul ass and pull ok for what it is

No way to large it's an 8.9 liter engine. You would be best with 5.9 liter 12 valve they sound similar
