Very nice. Also live in Alberta. Grew up on small horse farm near Crossfield, Ab. Is that 6NZ. 18 speed? Very nice man. Stay safe and keep on trucking. :)
They don’t make trucks like this anymore. Love the older 379/389. Not fan of newer 589.

Hey thanks for watching! I haul from the crossfield area once in a while.
Here’s the story, I converted this engine to a single turbo from a twin turbo acert. So yes it would be like the C15 6NZ, but I actually run a 3406 ecm right now. And I agree, the new 579 just doesn’t come close to the 379/389.

@@afehr405 Hey, thanks for reply. Sorry stupid iPad is slowly dying, so it auto correct smart, meant to say small horse farm lol.
Is the single turbo better vs twin turbo? just wondering. And your running ECM from 3406? Is from 3406e? they also seem be very popular cat engine. And didn’t you mean new 589 from Peterbilt? Yeah I am not fan of newer more modern 589. Sure might be more aerodynamic, but Imo they don’t look as good or sexy as 379/389.
Yeah more of fan of long nose 359/379/389 and even w900. Imo when trucks get too modern. There get be too much tech in them, all the more to go wrong with them or break down imo. Then your dealing sensor and def and emissions crap. Old school trucks are more reliable and prob run circles around anything modern. When proper maintenance is done on them. I doubt newer modern semi will even last before hitting 500,000 km before they need major work on something and or they in shop with DEF/Emissions issue. Seen more few videos of small trucks companies, selling off anything new or modern, and buying up older trucks, simple Cus they more reliable vs newer trucks.
Yeah I miss the farm life sometimes. I Haven’t been back to our crossfield farm in years now since parents got old and sold the farm back 2016. I don’t think anybody is even living in our old farm house anymore. Kinda sad.
Thanks for reply. Keep on trucking. :)

@@SireDragonChester Oh yes, I meant 589.. and yes 3406e. I’d say same thing as 6NZ just from the older generation cat.
To say it short, the twin turbo C15 acert was Cats introductory engine to emissions standards at the time, I believe 04-06 or 07. Basically just recirculated exhaust air back into engine with added sensors and the twin turbo setup was basically to get more pressure into the cylinder so they could have a higher compression ratio which was supposed to equal better burnt fuel and less pollution, but the IVA sensors have a popular tendency to fail, along with higher compression ratio equals cracked liners easier. The C15 acert is a good engine if you tune it correctly, but mine needed a rebuild anyway so I just converted it. Runs a lot cooler, overall just easier on the engine.

Hey thanks for the reply and yeah no worries. I figured was type oh..
While I am not truck driver myself. Just trucker fan. Kinda kicking my self for not going for my CDL like 10/20+ yrs ago when I was younger. But with my health issue now, I never even got my driver license, Cus at time. When lived on parents farm. I Was supporting ex barrel horse (who was 30+ yard old) I saved from going meat market. So spent any money I earned on my old Billy/horse bills/hay and other horse stuff, and what little I had left, spent rest on pc gaming lol. Sure drove on farm. Did back roads with our farm truck, 1986 f-150 4x4 with 302 v8, dad showed me how float gears in her. Lol but never got my license at the time, Cus was broke lol. As said, spent on Billy and pc stuff lol.
Should gone for CDL. Even farmer my dad worked for off and on. Doing odd jobs for him. Road in his semi a few times while my dad and I helping him out. As they owned most large crops around our farm at the time. He even Said I should gone for my CDL. My dad was heavy duty mechanic. Till he had his bad accident.
My dad and I have worked on few gas and Diesel engines, but we never worked on anything like a Cat turbo engines. But Thanks for info. I Figured twin Turbo be better. So single larger turbo is better?
It’s sad CAT got out of it what 2007-09? Ish. Bullied out Cus they couldn’t meet strict demand emissions control. I know I saw video while back that cat is doing older engine block rebuild. Been watching this guy who was CAT mechanic, but he recently quit his job and I guess/I think he freelanced for hire now. The company said he couldn’t record while repainting cat and other turbo Diesel engines. Ouch. So he quit.
Kinda sad CAT didn’t come back. Kinda wish they would. CAT should look into hydrogen/turbo diesel, where hydrogen is injected with the diesel so burns cleaner. Saw few videos about it. Looks promising.
Been enjoying chatting with you. Hope post some video of semi/truck engine at some point?

Yeah it sure is flat here in the prairies. We have the Rockies about 200 kilometres west of where I’m located. Love the mountains.

    • @afehr405
      @afehr405  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

These are the open end Lodeking trailers, which are a combination of aluminum and steel, although where I mounted it is aluminum up top where the tarp rail is, I didn’t use the magnet on the clip, just clipped it onto the tarp rail if that makes sense.
