As a Malaysian who studied in US, what bothered me most in US were:
    1. No bidet in toilet
    2. Measurement units
    3. No clinics I can easily walk in
    4. Lack of spicy food
    5. Winter
What I liked the most is US:
    1. Neat, clean & well built facilities
    2. Friendly people
    3. Nice, big & cheap cars
    4. Famous touristic places
    5. Branded items are cheap

Lived in America for almost 20 yrs.The ones that got to me the most are :
    -The "strongly suggested" 15% tip
    -Ads for medical products
    -The sales tax
and yesss those Easy Cheese cans.
On the other hand there are things in America that I find endearing and merit following :
Americans are super polite people. They are forever saying Hi and smiling at you and always at the ready to open doors for you. While driving they stop for pedestrians and god forbid if you get caught going over 10 miles per hr.in a school zone. They are stickler for rules like waiting for their turn in line, adhering to traffic rules, being considerate road users, not littering, not parking in handicap zones... just to name a few.
Sorry Logesh Im with Rachel on the Girl Scouts Cookies.I love those and always buy a bunch to make them last a year.My all time favorite is Thin Mint.

Rachel here! First of all, YES!! Thank you for supporting me on the Girl Scout Cookies. Thin Mints are my second favorite, Samoas are my all time favorite! That warms my heart that you think Americans are polite, sometimes it depends on where you live in America, some areas are more polite than others. And you are totally right about stopping for pedestrians, and being stickler for rules. There are definitely a lot of really great things about America!

Tipping is not mandatory. Please don't feel you are obligated to tip. Despite what you may have heard, people who work in these positions make minimum wage, set by the local government. Americans are very generous, and individualistic and we loathe to patronize businesses whom don't meet our standards thus why tipping is held as a carrot. It seems European and Asian countries do not emphasize good service and just accept bad service for which they have the pleasure of paying for. Americans are more than willing to pay more for their services, but the operators of these businesses are simply too greedy. Case in-point, now, during the COVID situation, may businesses are closing simply because they cannot find enough workers to fulfill. The solution is simple, raise the wages of the workers and raise the prices of the goods or services! But instead, the operators choose to shut-up shop!

malaysia dont have a tipping culture is because we actually paid our waiter and waiteress a salary... while waiter and waiteress in america get paid below minium wages and have to survive on tips that they earn to actually make a living.. apparently this is to ensure that the waiter and waiteress provide a good service to the customer.

In my country, for many restaurants service charge is already included in the bill. In fast foods mostly, it's not. But we don't get served by a particular person so it's hard to give a tip. For restaurants without service charge it's up to the customers if they would give a tip. Tip is equivalent to how happy customers were with the service. You don't get banned by not giving a tip.

First of all, great video 👍🏻😂
    1) same as US
    2) tipping is optional, there is no meaning attached to the %, there usually is a “coperto” (about 2€/person) symbolizing bread, cutlery etc (it’s weird I know), but it doesn’t go to the waiter
3)not as big as in US but I’d say generous, coffe is microscopic. The doggy bag is something new here, in the past it was kinda shameful to ask for leftovers, glad it’s not the case anymore
    4) nope
    5) only for over-the-counter meds which, in any case, must be purchased in pharmacies and not in the supermarket. I was 😳 when in US I saw ads about meds for serious illness. Like, should I tell my doctor what to prescribe because I saw it on tv?(wrote this before seeing you saying the same!)
    6) why? WHY? it’s so confusing! just because every state and every product category has its percentages, the price should include everything in order not to confuse people. Here the price includes everything. Those who have a company and can deduct taxes ask for an invoice, not just a receipt, and there the price is shown in all its details.
    7)metric. Come on! 😂
8)different colors here too, but I think we win on the coins… we have 1 and 2 cents coins!!! Nobody wants them!!
9)same as Malaysia. About ID to verify credit card, it was abolished in 2016 to encourage the use of electronic payments and reduce tax evasion.
    10) no, also because it’s very complicated here to sell anything…. bureaucracy is hell
    11) no special things for autumn season, unfortunately! I love it.
    12) no, we recycle those in the compost
    13) only at IKEA and possibly some other foreign restaurants. I don’t think we can do that at McDonald’s, but I’ll try!
    14) we have it but it’s mostly online. We do have winter and summer sale: they start after winter holidays and at the beginning of July, last for 60 days, and each year, each region of the country decides the exact starting day

Out of all these American cultural niche, I would say tipping the waitress is uniquely American. I remember in the opening scene of the film 'Reservoir Dogs' (Directed by Quentin Tarantino) when Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi) refused to tip the waitress, the rest of the robbers were upset. He finally relented when Mr. White (Hervey Keitel) reminded him that 'waitressing is the no. 1 occupation for female non-graduates in America. It is basically a job any woman can get and made a living on. The reason is because of their tips.'

Have just discovered your videos and am thoroughly enjoying them. Doggy bag. Earlier people were ashamed to say in a restaurant that they would take home and eat the same food for dinner or the next day. So they started saying ‘I’d like to take this home for my dog’. So it was called a Doggy Bag. In the year 2000 when I moved from Malaysia to Sri Lanka my apartment had a garbage disposal. Having traveled extensively in the US I was familiar with it. But being Asian disliked wasting energy to grind food waste which could be dumped in the bin. And I can so totally get the Malaysian food connection. Even now if visit KL first thing in the morning my friends will Tapao kway tew and fried bananas for my breakfast and my absolute favourite is Beef Rendang and Nasi Lemak, though my hubby prefers Kampung Chicken.

There are some medical (sort-of) ads in Malaysia actually, like Panadol Actifast, Cough syrup, Eno, etc. Meanwhile, I totally feel you about the metric system. In the UK, the majority of the British are still using the imperial system in daily activities, e.g. stones, pound, miles, foot, etc. (Except temperature in Celcius). ^^' I feel like western countries are stricter in checking your ID for security or age when you buy alcohols than in Asian countries (Like Malaysia).

As for the pharmaceutical ads. In the US, our pharma research is extremely advanced than any other country in the world. I think only Israel comes close to the US in terms of pharma research. So nothing wrong if the drug companies advertise what new drugs are available in the market. The best thing is the ads highlight the potential side effects from these drugs. You need to get a doctors prescription to get it anyway.

Almost all establishments now have a chip system in addition to wireless NFC payment system. Please consider, America is a very large place with very large cultural inertia, this is one reason why it may seem America uses outdated systems, because we are first to pioneer new types of systems and last to upgrade existing systems.

Seating at restaurants are optimized for efficiency gains to maximize profits. Please consider this, certain areas of the restaurant are designed in a manner to join more than one table to accommodate a larger party. Thus, if your party only consist of two, and you occupy the space specifically reserved for this purpose then the operator can lose potential profits. By the way, not all restaurants operate in this manner.

"I'm still getting carded, and I'm 30!" Rachel low-key flexing her youthness. Nice!
We used to have free refills at these kind of restaurants. If at McD, we need to ask the waiter to help refill for us, but later on, they would charge like 50 cents for a refill. But now, they don't. Can't make money I guess. Well except for Texas Chicken, Carl's Jr., and few more I think.
