Just saw the mention of your illness-hopes and prayers for you for a mild case and a quick recovery! Since I work Firefighter/EMS on call, I imagine exposure is quite likely for me, but have been fortunate so far. Hang in there!
I laid my head on my hubby at the viewing and he was ice cold and hard as a rock. I k issued him goodbye before they closed off the coffin and it was like kissing an ice cube
That's so interesting I had no idea there were different types of embalming! Thank you again for your insight and education! Hope you're doing well and Happy New Year!
Good Morning, Kari! I didn't know you were unwell. I got released from hospital Christmas Eve morning from a stroke, and I hope your illness wasn't nearly as serious as that!! Thanks for the upload! Have a Happy, Healthy, New Year! Much Love!👍😘💖👋👋👋

I've learned from older embalmers in the 70's tips & tricks on how to embalm very small infants (fetuses & premature babies). I've learned that immersing babies in vats for several hours helps with the preservation process. Some mothers would request viewing after embalming, so I would have them bring in doll's clothing to dress them in which was usually too big.
KARI THAT’S SO INTERESTING I HAD NO IDEA THERE WERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF EMBALMING KARI I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU WHAT FOUR TYPES OF EMBALMING FOR BABIES AND CHILDREN
Awesome!!!! I've heard of these. 4 types by my uncle who is a mortician and btw go trocara!!!! I think they're coooolllll!!!! What do you think Kari!!!! Great video!!!!

Interesting, I was so sad and grief stricken, when my daughter passed ,She had lost weight ,but she looked like her self in the casket,,,full and meaty,... She was just dark, because of the lack of Blood........
I would prefer to not be embalmed. I'm about 75% sure I want to be cremated. Absolutely do not want to have an autopsy if I'm dead it doesn't matter nothing's going to bring me back
Kari, have you seen the way ppl are "preparing" their loved ones doing everyday activities? I saw 1 guy who was propped up on his Street Bike instead of being in a casket, and another was sitting in a chair fully clothed in a Jogging suit with a cigarette in his mouth and a beer in his hand. Some were from foreign countries and some were from the USA so it doesn't seem to be a culture thing. I would like to know your thoughts of this procedure. Thanks, Michele
I've wondered if embalming could be done like pressure treating lumber. I suppose there would need to be openings in the skin to allow the embalming fluid to access the tissues.
Question about Covid ,do you know if a deceased had Covid ? If so what would be done differently. Also comparing 2021 to 2020 are you personally seeing more deaths is the home busier and are the demographics different from previous years ? Read that a major insurance company is seeing a 40% increase in deaths in the 18 to 64 age range in 2021 compared to 2020 . Would think funeral homes would be the first to notice any unusual trends
@@KaritheMortician WOW this is big is it all because of Covid infections or are you seeing other causes? Would you even know if a diseased had died of Covid does the medical examiner tell you that ? Thinking you would be the first person to see anything strange and if there are a unexplained increase in 18 to 64 year olds dying not related to Covid 19 Thanks for your reply would be good if you could do a video on the increase in deaths
They don’t use the pickling, informal or marination (for Al) type of embalming ? Seems like it would last longer; you know for famous, vain ppl, medical use etc. I know I’m being a bit silly but I’m just wondering why you don’t have like a tank you leave the body in over night filter, strain and reuse ?

What is the longest preserved body you have witnessed from an exhumation where the body is still in a well preserved state?
30 years.
The ones I have seen the body....60 years and was just bone

So sorry for that heartbreak
Just curious how long a person can be preserved due to embalming?
There is no timeline
I'm currently an intern for a few funeral homes. I've yet to take part in hypodermic embalming or topical embalming.
Eventually!
Is there such a thing as non-invasive embalming (no scalpels, trocars or any instruments that will pierce through the skin/body of the decedent)?
Yes you can topically do some preserving but it won't work for long
Kari, how long does the topical embalming last?
I would prefer to not be embalmed. I'm about 75% sure I want to be cremated.
Absolutely do not want to have an autopsy if I'm dead it doesn't matter nothing's going to bring me back
Its good to be educated and make a choice for yourself
You look pretty good for a covid victim. Feeling better

skin is porous so there is always openings
Kari, question? Do you ever have to sharpen trocars?
yes you do over time
Dang you are up early!

"Temporary" preservation so how long does it last?
There is no set timeline
How similar is this to what the Egyptians did preparing a body for mummification?
They were trying to dry the body with salts and such
They don’t use the pickling, informal or marination (for Al) type of embalming ? Seems like it would last longer; you know for famous, vain ppl, medical use etc. I know I’m being a bit silly but I’m just wondering why you don’t have like a tank you leave the body in over night filter, strain and reuse ?
no they do not do that for traditional embalming but that is a preservation method just not in a funeral home
How long does an embalmed body last before it starts to decompose?
There is no timeline
How long does embalming last if no issues with the body?
There is no timeline because of the multitude of factors
My boyfriend is afraid of anything death related. I have to watch you when I’m by myself. 😞
Well maybe learning would alleviate some fear :)
How long has the trocar procedure been around?
A long time...I will look into history
How long can a body last after being embalmed?
There is no set timeline
How long will embalming last typically on deceased before interment?
There is no timeline
@@KaritheMortician won't the body start decomposition hours/days after embalming?
Strange question: I am allergic to formaldehyde. Can I be embalmed? I guess if I'm dead, it's a moot point.
Yes you won't react
When you are pumping fluid in where is the blood coming out?
The nearest vein usually
It’s like a radiator. One line going in and a line going out (to the sewer). Her previous videos explains it along with the necessary fittings
Inject into the artery, drain from the vein.
can everyone get along or not ? Why?
huh?
We are trying to have dinner!!
?
It sounds like a complicated and lengthy procedure.
:)
Almost to 100k
Baby steps!
Very interesting. Is the price of embalming the deceased the same for all or does it vary by weight, size or length of time to embalm?
There may be additional charge for an autopsy or tissue donor body
Do the Pope's get embalmed when they die ??
Yes they are preserved for the funeral time…there are many types of embalming
Topical
