The point of the whole game is to show the actual heist that happened off screen. Since there's not much material to work with from the movie aside from a couple of hints, they had to make shit up to fill in the blanks
For those really wondering why this game was made, remember that generation had some successful crime movie tie-ins with Scarface and The Godfather. I'm sure it was made for a quick buck and it probably exploited devs who respected the franchise and wanted to make something good.
I remember when Cheat on G4 had an entire strategy section to escape the cops for this, and I thought, it was more detailed than most movie tie-ins, turns out... It really isn't!
"This time on games I forgot even existed." It was always bizarre to me that they made a game basically about the one thing the movie went out of its way to NOT show. But I also wouldn't even call it a cash grab, since it's not even Tarantino's most popular movie. Imagine playing Pulp Fiction with a DDR like section with John Travolta? Amazing!
"Why does a Reservoir Dogs game exist 15 years after the motion picture released?!" Well did you know that there's a Reservoir Dogs/Payday 2 crossover that came out 25 years after the motion picture released?
fun fact about payday 2: reservoir dogs is canon in it! along with john wick, the point break reboot, hardcore henry and scarface! none of this is a joke!
oooo i own this too. it was easy as far as i remember. and after playing through it, it makes sense storywise, it is not a sequel, it is prequel to the events, showing the events leading to, and after the movie.
I know homebrews aren't your thing, but you do know that Final Fight LNS Ultimate exists right? I'm just making sure, because it basically exists for you.
Bullet Festival is such an anime name for this Quentin Tarantino title. You know what? Quentin Tarantino movie game tie-in having that makes more sense the more I think about it.
Yeah, it was a bit unclear during the tutorial (whether this was like a prequel game leading up the the eventual movie heist) but I got that later on. Still, what a bizarre game this is.
@@MattMcMuscles yeah, i mean... from a gaming pov id be amazing if they had tarantino writting scripts for games like GTA or RDR but..as a concept.. the only way you could "translate" a tarantino propierty as a game would it be like a Telltale game i guess
Back then I played the game a lot. I loved that they put some of the songs in the game from the film. But in retrospective it wasn't that good. I heard rumors that a kill Bill game was in the making, but got cancelled, but I don't know why. The video was a pleasure to watch as always on your channel. Keep up the good work!
I remember this game… It had so much potential, adding a bit of lore and background details to the film itself… But I couldn’t take it seriously with all the game models… I mean Mr. blue was nothing even close to the guy… They all look like goombas that had gotten slapt in the back of their heads with their eyes popping out… Akin to the fight club video game that was also a disaster- hint hint
Idk if you'll read this matt but your rank in this game is determined by how cops and civilians you kill which is why you encountered that weird part with the construction worker where it didn't matter if you killed him or not. The only difference it made is if you took him hostage and forced him to do the lock you'd have a better rank....yeah wish it there were UI elements for that huh.
By the way.. thanks for recommending Huntdown .. pretty funny game too played even if it’s difficult especially for casual player.. if it’s alright too ask .. if someone could recommend something there is like Broforce I would like to know if someone would tell.. keep on the good work sir and thank you
Now you HAVE to track down that From Dusk til Dawn game and play it, hahaha. I also kinda sorta remember my cousin buying this for his PS2, and after watching him play it. Let's just say 'he hated it' was a bit of an understatement
Well, the Sopranos was super hot at the time the game came out. Sorta made sense. But a 1992 movie where it's mostly talking getting a video game in 2006 is a little weirder.
@@MattMcMuscles Well maybe they wanted to make a tie in game when the movie was new , but didn't have tech to make it reach its full potential until 2006.
A Jackie Brown video game would involve smoking bongs, wandering around shopping malls and at the end shooting someone in a parking lot. It wouldn't be very exciting would it?!
Kill Bill game Have Suda 51 handle it if on a budget Have Platinum handle it if you want to throw more money into it. Either way, I think you'll end up with an interesting product.
The funny thing about this game is, it's way better than it has any rights to be. It's a video game adaptation of a film, those are supposed to be bad. Now, I never said that the game was good, just that it's not bad.
You thought that driving section was bad? By the end of the game there is an incredibly long driving section where you are bleeding out and the screen gets red and then dark. You can't damage the car too much. Also, every cop ever is after you. Thr most frustrating time I had in this game. Spent 3 hours doing it....
Bought this game used, the elbows on the character models looked like Woody from Toy Story, it was so annoying I couldn't get through it, returned it after a couple of days

Man so glad I didn't fall for this licensed game. I usually fall for them all but for some reason I didn't for this one. Just watching this was painful & usually Matt makes the worst games fun. It's the first time his super power didn't work. Can't believe Eidos stooped this low.
Well, good to see im not the onyl one that remember this disgrace. The onyl interesting part is how you can go trought the levels without killing anyone. But its just that: A "Good Idea". The Michel Madsen part is the most stupid of all (And how they put things from the movie only because they were in the movie....): His especial hability is cuttin the ear out from hostages. lol. PS: I think this game released that year because the DVD Especial Edition of the movie was comming out.
Probably not. Our city is on super lockdown + there's a curfew. No one's really been allowed to visit anyone here since early October, and DDN only has local play.
Not at all, the two writers for this game wrote for a bunch of other mostly licensed titles made by the same devs, like Pac-Man World 3, SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab and Karaoke Revolution: American Idol. Though they did apparently read a lot of his scripts to try and copy his style.
The point of the whole game is to show the actual heist that happened off screen. Since there's not much material to work with from the movie aside from a couple of hints, they had to make shit up to fill in the blanks
There is actually a second Reservoir Dogs game, subtitled "Bloody Days" that came out in 2017, it's a top down shooter on PC.
@@pachucodreams Apparently the developer closed down shortly after they released so the game isn't even available anymore, so probably not very good.

I think The Godfather game that came out the same year was way stronger. At least they had actual actors from the movie in that one.
I remembered this actually. Madsens signature was literally just cutting their ear off

"Why does a Reservoir Dogs game exist 15 years after the motion picture released?!"
Well did you know that there's a Reservoir Dogs/Payday 2 crossover that came out 25 years after the motion picture released?

Looks like the people that did the character models went on to do the Avengers game.
Used to play this a lot back in the day on my PS2

Love it when he’s in the area
Everyday ends in a bullet festival
i know its 2021and this released in 2006 but lets make sure that this game wins GOTY for this year, it is an easy sweep
I wasn't expecting an adaptation of Reservoir Dogs to basically be old Hitman, except less "what the fuck" and more "why the fuck".
I experienced this title via a bargain bin only a year after its release and until now wasn't entirely sure I hadn't imagined the entire thing
Game devs be like,
Does it game? Sure, it’ll be fiiiiinnnnnneeee

I def think I might take that for a spin
Hay The Warriors game came out 26 years after its movie and its an awesome game!
I played this game religiously
I remember my brother and I convincing our mother to get this for us at the Best Buy in town...we never beat the game.
wait there were two reservoir dog games made years after the movie? I thought bloody days was the first game based on the movie, but i guess not.

Still has more mechanics than Cyberpunk, actually works too.
Reservoir Dogs game > Cyberpunk
Ah, 2000’s video games- If there was crime and shooting in your movie/show we’ll try try to make an edgy game about it.
