- Thirty-four-year-old Brooke Eby from Bethesda, Maryland, has ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. She began feeling symptoms at 29 years old and was diagnosed four years later. Although the journey has been difficult, Brooke says keeping a positive attitude and having a good sense of humor has helped along the way. “Honestly, it's been therapeutic,” Brooke said. She shared her story with Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall.
My dad died from ALS, and his life was similar to hers, almost "unrelatably perfect" and had great friends during his life

Well, Brooke, I don't have ALS but I do have a spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury. I admire you for finding humor in your diagnosis; it's good medicine for your soul! I also agree about the issue of being "wheelchair bound":we're not bound to our wheelchairs!

What an inspiration! I have a chronic illness that's not terminal, and I am guilty of frequently feeling sorry for myself. She will now be my role remodel! I love to be funny, so why not use this negative to laugh?! Thank you for this story about such a remarkable young lady!❤️

I am not naive but I did not realize that so many young women have ALS. I kept thinking of the old movie with Gary Cooper playing Lou Gehrig the NY Yankee baseball player and getting sick. Brooke is lucky to have great support from friends and family and is rolling with the punches with this horrible disease.
I’ve lost the ability to stand and walk over 15 I’ve been bedridden they don’t know what I have I just looked drunk walking and I fall down use lose my balance I don’t have any muscle mass in my legs. Then I had a stroke that also time out my left arm. But I’m happy And I don’t take one day for granted I’m trying everyday to be here. Till they figure out what I have. You go girl keep fighting. 🎉god bless you all

A friend was diagnosed Oct 2022 with ALS
Your description of daily meds / physicians / various therapies
Describes his live-life routines
In his case he has to fight tooth and nail his medical insurance for coverage
He is experiencing rapid lost of basic bodily functions
Feeding tube / loss of speech / energy and strength degraded
He is grateful for the amazing support of family / friends / medical professionals
He has no family history of ALS
As you stated there is no current explanation for what cause ALS nor is there a known cure
Navigating this profound change in his daily living continues to take its toll

My daughter has ALS she is in her 40's , she takes infusions or (sp) Ratacava and it seems to be helping her!! somewhat !!
Jason becker used to play with David lee roth he has ALS since his 20s hes amazing still composes music in his situation and hes had it for some time ! Hes an amazing guy

My dad died from ALS and he got diagnosed in 2021 and he died later that year but i knew he had it for a few years i feel sorry for her but she will die before theres no cure for als my dad died at 60 to 62 years old

This girl has it WAY better than so so many people. Look at her with all her gear, private planes, top notch doctors that people could only dream of. She is able to live this way and have this (condescending perspective) bc she’s filthy rich. Her view belittles how so many people suffer with this disease.

This unfortunately is true, because poor people cannot access these tools to help them.
Her view does not belittle anyone. It could help others. The fact that she’s still so positive even though she knows she’s going to die is empowering. Because she has ALS you want her to be miserable and have a poor quality of life for the rest of her time with her loved ones? That’s unbelievably cruel. Terrible diseases happen to people all the time. We need to change our thoughts on this and instead of expecting or letting those people be miserable for their remaining time on earth, we need to help them and allow them to find the best way for them to live their lives comfortably and happily. So stop thinking that she should be miserable like most people because of her disease. That’s so negative.
