God has His own way of helping us and His own time schedule. One thing for sure, it will always be better than what you could come up with by yourself. Sometimes we have to go through hardship to learn the lesson He wants to teach us or to be guided down the path He's set out for us to follow.

Good job at the jury rigging. That reminded me having two flats within a mile of each other about 70 miles south of Gallop NM on a Friday, before a three day weekend. The tire place in Gallop was closed until Tuesday and had to order the tires, which took another day. We were there for days on an Indian reservation in the desert, but we had the only trees we could see anywhere for shade and a windmill fed water tank. The good out weighed the bad being there, we were surrounded by hundreds of sheep one morning and the hikes we took everyday were beautiful. I'm glad it went smooth for you two, ya gotta love it.

Nice to see someone jump into action instead of sitting on the curb and crying about it. In those circumstances I get really irritated, I've been a professional mechanic for 42 years and have $250K in tools...... at the shop. I generally don't even carry a screwdriver or a pair of pliers. I'm in the process of setting up a camper shell on my truck with all my camping gear, I'm going to build a lockable box inside to be able to lock my 2 road service boxes up so I don't find myself completely tool-less.

Just got back from deer hunting and saw this video. I had a good laugh. I did exactly the same thing 35 years ago with a trailer made out of an old pickup box. My grandfather had decided to split up a 60' black walnut tree for firewood. I decided I needed some for woodworking projects and piled the box high with black walnut. 150 miles into our 700-mile journey home the spring broke on the trailer. I didn't go all the work you did. I jacked it up, slapped a piece of firewood on top of the spring like a splint, wrapped chain around both ends of the wood, and tied the chain into a knot. Then wrapped some rope around it for good measure. Sixty mph all the way home.

Yaa and pick up some mechanics wire and duct tape - should have wrapped that spring stack with duct tape also it's a big deal in derby cars to wrap them.

I'll bee replacing the other side here soon. We had Gorilla tape and it did come up in conversation! Looking back, one thing I should have done would have been to anneal that stiff wire. I could have done it on the propane stove even.

After watching your video and others who have had broken leaf springs on their RV's, I ordered a spare leaf spring, shackles and bolts to take with us when we use our RV. I'd hate to be out in the middle of nowhere like you guys were and have this happen. You were lucky you found a place that specifically caters to RV and other suspension. Awesome job making your own repair to get you out of a sticky situation.

Clamps, the U shaped ones with the nuts on each side are always great to throw in a tool box. a quick solder kit comes in a tube but sets up really hard. And you can find these in an auto supply store. ....You did great! and your wife is a true blessing for remembering the wire fence where you picked up the wire, that's a life partner. Awesome stuff! This reminds me of the time we had a broken radiator cap and lost almost all of our fluid out deep in the woods. We fixed it ourselves and made a memory out of it. It occasionally concerns me that there are so many more people traveling in the backcountry on BLM and NFS land and many of them wouldn't have the slightest clue how to address a problem like this. You know your stuff and have great improvising skills. Subscribed.
