Good morning from very wet Florida. Hurricane Elsa blew through here just after midnight and it is still raining, but not as hard. Your griddle cakes would be a welcome treat this morning. Thanks for the video.
They look FANTASTIC. Imagine them slathered with jam and clotted cream!!!! Wonderful recipe. Many thanks for the Welsh, leeks, daffs, and delicious food. Cheers
Hi Geoff. My night just got better 😃 I used to have an aunt in Herefordshire who made these when we visited. Always loved them and will be making these real soon All this and England beating Denmark 😃

I,m going to try make some but with very little sugar. I am type one diabetic so don't need it.I don't have any sweet teeth and the sultanas and currents should make it sweet enough. A little bit of sugar wont kill me though.I am Welsh and have just got a cast iron griddle so it is my duty to make some :)

The Welsh cakes would come in handy during my long hours at work. I’m a postal carrier.
HI Tina. Yes they would be a convenient snack to take with you to work. I was a postman back in the way distant past, 1975-78.
I’m Welsh and cook mine on a traditional bakestone your griddle looks good! The ones with jam are gorgeous as well! ❤
Hi Heather. I imagine cooking on a traditional stone would be even better. Thanks very much.
They look really good, my mum would always cook batches of these and drop scones at the same time, both always eaten with butter, lots of butter!
HI Gruff. Thanks very much. As you say, very good with lots of butter.

HI Karen. I haven't seen them in M&S, I will have to take a look. But, as you say, they are very easy to make, and you can experiment with flavours.
M & S are delish .. Used to buy when in England .

Hi Henrietta, dried cranberries will work well, slightly more tart than raisins etc, but very good.
@@geoffsbakingblog 👍💕
Thank you for giving the plain flour and baking powder alternative measurements Geoff, that's very helpful. These look very good indeed. 😊
HI Beruthiel45. Thanks very much. You are most welcome.
Very nice indeed! Hot, dripping with butter, and a cup of tea. Couldn’t wish for more! Would chopped dates be in order, might be nice? Thanks, Geoff x
HI Eureka Lass. Thanks very much. Yes I think some chopped dates would work well, nice and sticky and perhaps a little sweeter than sultanas.
