Wow, another great restoration. I replace these for a friend who has a business as he can’t e downtime when the pumps fail. I’ve often thought of rebuilding them but haven’t found the time. Knowing how they operate, I am curious to see how the appliance paint holds up as the pump gets very hot. The other thing I couldn’t tell from the video was if you sourced new pistons? Most are ceramic and prone to cracking due to misuse. Much the same as placing a hot glass into cold water 😮. My friend was going through them way faster than he should have. I did some research and found that the flow of water was a huge part of cooling. This causes a problem when you leave the machine running while moving things out of the way to continue cleaning. While doing this the pump gets overheated and when the water begins to flow again the cold causes pistons to fail permanently. After finding this out, I downloaded a number of manuals for different brands of power washers and all advised to shutdown the engine if there was no water flowing through the pump. It varied slightly but a good rule of thumb is no more than 5 minutes of idle runtime. I suggested that when he shuts down the engine he squeezed the trigger for a few minutes to allow a flow of water to slowly cool down the pump. This has significantly increased the life of the pumps on his equipment. That was some very ugly sludge/milkshake that came out of the sump 😮.
@@Failure_Is_An_OptionThis information below is readily available on the web and is a recommendation. All the pumps I have replaced were AI commercial ones. I have disassembled two of them and the components were destroyed. Why Should My Pressure Washer Be Turned Off When Not In Use? If you let a pressure washer run without pulling the trigger, the water stays inside the pump. This water continues to heat up and will melt the seals on the pump. Plus, the pump continues to heat up, so when you pull the trigger again, cold water is entering a very hot pump and can cause pump cavitation. Some pumps have a bypass hose to recirculate the water and cool it down, but you still do not want to let it sit for long without pulling the trigger even with the bypass hose. It's best to always turn the pressure washer off when not in use. If your pressure washer is not working, or if your pressure washer keeps shutting off, this may be a cause of the issue.
The soap is caustic and can never be rinsed out of the mixing valve. Hard water and little or no maintenance. I liked my pressure washer but didn't love it. Good video, I heart ASMR
BTW I’m very happy to see that Adendorff sponsor you. It’s sad to think that the US guys all get heavily sponsored and us South Africans always seem to “suck the iron tit” . Keep the interesting and informative videos rolling👍👍👏🏻👏🏻😁
Lol... Had to rewind that spinning of the pump in the beginning... I just realised i have a similar stone turner at home. I believe it's made for cakes and stuff 😂
Something different, you do come across.interesting projects.just continue doing what you do best.another notch on your belt.great little video as always.be safe.👍👍👍😎😎😎
The pump sounded awful noisy, hopefully it works. I’m in the process of building a pressure washer, had to order a new pump because the used one I have I cannot find the right valves for it, I still have to rebuild a gx160 I had that has no compression but parts are on the way. Can’t wait to have my own pressure washer
It’s not going to last long. The gap in the connecting rods and the crank shaft has too much “slop” from lack of lubricate. He does these videos to get views and money but often skimps out on really doing it right. Like putting the same old poppet valves back in.
You did the painting all wrong. Youre supposed to put it all back together and spray so much paint on it that you have to go the next wrench size up to take it apart. - Sarcasm. In all honesty great work.
Haha I have found bolts on engines like that, when the bolt broke loose I realize its one size smaller when the paint chips off. I call them overspray, hide and sell "restorations" Guys blast one color paint over the entire thing and sell it like that.
I'm glad you are tackling one of these. I have a Honda pressure washer similar to this one that has a bad pump. Did you replace all the seals and plastic parts inside?
@@AJRestoration I worked on a lot of water pumps at my last job, everything on them was super finicky. All the brass connections you have to tighten but not over tighten or it will break. And changing all the seals and about 20% of the time after you put it all back together it is still leaking.
Far from a waste of time if someone learned something or enjoyed this project, I know I learned a lot and I had fun. Making something from the scrapyard look good again and making it work again for at least 3 minutes. That alone is priceless.
@@AJRestoration I'm sorry but because of my profession I find them boring, I've been a technician for over 40 years and I've repaired thousands of such machines. In any case, if this fills you up, you are doing well and doing it ..... well done

Stop using consumer junk for commercial work. Commercial CAT or Annovi Reverberi can sit at idle indefinitely.

Alright, looking forward to another engine restoration. Nice Honda. Great job as always AJ.
Great job on the restoration AJ, looking forward to seeing it work in the next video!!
Good job AJ beautiful restoration beautifully restored good job well done
Thank you buddy!

Are you going to put oil in it before you try it could be a paperweight after all that work
Haha yes, I will fill it with oil before I see if its a paperweight.
Lol... Had to rewind that spinning of the pump in the beginning... I just realised i have a similar stone turner at home. I believe it's made for cakes and stuff 😂
Haha yes its aLazy Susan. I made this one from pine slabs and a large truck wheel bearing.
I love that you do zinc plating!!!
It really adds to the aesthetic and its awesome to be able to do it inhouse.
nice job, looking brand new again.
cheers

You missed the opportunity to clean it with a pressure washer, that would have been awesome!!!! Very good video!!!!
just like you need a lathe to build a lathe
Lots of tiny pieces. What an excellent restoration.

Another great job. Do you ever use blue passivation or just the yellow?

As always a great job 👍👍
This is going to be very helpful for me as I have an old Karcher that do t work so lekker anymore😁👍
Nicely done. 👍
THANKIOUPR❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What was that yellow stuff that came out of the motor at the beginning?
oil
@@leminhquan2510 And water.
Forbidden pudding
Oil and water mixed. Its supposed to be clean oil.
Thank you. I've never seen oil n water mixed in that colour before.
Im glad this water pump lives to see another lifetime. I would pass it on to my kid when she grows up. Hopefully shes a grease monkey like me
Инструмент для снятия резинок 👌👍, себе такой сделаю
Does it work nicely 😅
Wow uitstekende werk lan nie ophou kyk nie en kan nie wag vir die enjin se beurt nie.
Baie dankie! Ek kan ook nie wag om die engine te doen nie! Dis my favourite deel!
You put those O-rings on with 100% less cursing than me! 😂
I'm betting the pump will work but even if it didn't, it would still make a pretty paperweight
1:19 Who the hell uses mustard as a lubricant?
If you intend to wait a few months yes.
Let’s see the testing
Soon.
Excellent job buddy is a beauty just 🇻🇪👏👍🏻
Jolie travail 👍
The colors are gold bolts and nuts tools
you had it restored in less time it took your neighbor to blow his driveway
He was quite busy with that damn blower haha. I was like come oooon!
The oil for the pump lubrication is not oil anymore it's become unreliable to do the work on keeping it in working condition
Correct, the oil that was left was contaminated. Hopefully it did not damage the pump.
@@AJRestoration hopefully it will work in the next video AJ ☺️
Ooooh! Banana smoothie
now convert the pump in a 3 cylinder 2 stroke engine
Karcher?
Forbidden tonkatsu broth
I hate working on these things.
I will be honest, I also did not like to work on this, it felt like it wasn't meant to be opened or serviced.
