Thanks for sharing. Thats what I have been looking for
Hi from California 😊
My great grandparents had a pit like this in their backyard that is still standing today and they have long since passed on. Thank you for sharing this.
Hey there sorry to just be seeing this. That is such a great testimony. Thank you so much for sharing that and watching. Have a blessed week.
@@THEREALSHOWBBQ hello I built this grill a month ago. I have a question. What can I use to clean the rust that's on the expanded metal grates.
@@shelleyball6216 That's awesome. Use a wire brush to scrub. You can take a large onion cut in to, to scrub on the metal as well. Once clean spray with cooking oil. It's a good idea to keep them covered with a sheet of metal or fiberglass sheet to help keep it from euating.
@@THEREALSHOWBBQ OK big show thanks bro will do today. Do I cover the whole metal or just the surface that's exposed. I don't want to keep it looking even
@@shelleyball6216 My pleasure. I cover the exposed

I'm Dominican...and this is very similar to how they cook in the Country side of the Dominican Republic...my Great GrandMother/Grand Mother/Aunts used to cook this way...I loved the smell of home cooked meals this way...we are planning a family trip there this year and I can't wait to gather all my relatives and my Dad to his(Childhood home) Parents home in the Country side so we can have a REAL home cooked meal this way!!....:)...Thanks so much for sharing this with us...I'm in NYC so its kind of hard to do this if you don't own your own Home with a Back Yard...I swear if we did is definitely cook outdoors in the summer like this...lol
LIPSTICK & SOFRITO That's awesome! My wife has been over to Haiti a few times for mission trips. It brings back a lot of great memories when my daddy was living. I can imagine this would be tough to do in NYC. Thanks for watching!

Gave me ideas. I am a missionary formerly of S.C. I have a house with a concrete porch so I think I will add a tray on the bottom that I can slide out and dump the ashes. I was going to cement it but I see it would be easier not too and if you ever wanted to relocate it, it would work better. Thanks!
That's awesome! Thank you for doing God's work. God bless!
That was Really Awesome. I totally love DIY, Especially when no cutting and welding is involved. I will refer back to this one later for the measurements
MeatHead Thanks man! I just went to a local metal shop and they cut it for me. I was surprised at how cheap the cost of the metal was.
Great job
Supper great job!!!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
Wow, looks just like mine that I build 3-4 years ago. Even has a metal shelf and everything like yours.
That's cool. Saw it in someone's backyard a couple of years ago. It works great.

Excellent pro job.

Yeah brother, awesome, when I first arrived to the USA, and my parents bought a house in Miami, I did not know what it was, until We found out, and roast pigs on it, Cuban style, I will never forget. I gotta a bunch bricks here doing nothing, and guess what ? They got work to do. Abd so do I, See, I have a gas grill, but alao have a lot of charcoal and fluid, and don't wanna throw it away, I've been looking for a cheap Bbq, no where to be found, so much money, so I ran into you, thanks a lot, great video,....
I have a concrete slab in my back yard, which I think is covering the old septic tank. Definitely going to build one of these around that slab. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!

This brings back childhood memories. Back in the day everyone had a grill like yours. Thank you for the smiles. Take care.
Thank you mam! That is awesome. It did me he same way. I grew up using simple grills this like this and they do just as good as some of the more expensive setups. I greatly appreciate you watching and the support.

Brother that is a mighty fine looking pit. I too am from Eastern NC (Wilson) but I live in San Diego California now. I want to build me a pit like that to show these California boys what real BBQ is like. Thanks for sharing
No way! Bro I'm from Wilson and went to Fike. Where did you go? I bet we actually know each other or know some of the same people. Send me an email from here or send a message to me on FB. Yea show those folks over in CA that we Eastern NC boys know what's up.
Bro I went to Beddingfield Class of 89. I just messaged you from my FB page.....The Meat Stall. When I come home we will definitely have to do a cook brother
I accepted your request. I too was in the Navy......Boiler Tech.... lol.... I've been tending fires for years....lol

@@THEREALSHOWBBQ : I'm in the Reno, Nevada area. Grew up near Bailey. Went to SOUTHERN NASH SENIOR HIGH, Class of 1980. MISS ME SOME CAROLINA BAR-B-QUE! Bill Miller did it best near as I can remember! Air Force, 12 active. I raise Duroc pigs now, and cows, etc. Bet I'm going to do me a concrete grill in short order!
Excellent! My son in law and I will be building something similar soon! Rock On!

Shelly Wilson Wow! That is awesome. Look up TheRealShowBBQ on Facebook and send me a message with a pic. I would love to share it. Thanks so much for watching and supporting my channel.
Looking forward to seeing it in action Scott! We use to build something similar to do whole hogs on. Taller and wider, but same principal.
Smoky Ribs BBQ & Southern Cuisine I'll have to see if I can I find a small one. 😁 It's has about 32" width. Thank you for watching and the support.
You could do a small one for sure. If I remember right, the grate needs to be 36" above the coals. We had a big burn pile where we burned oak down to coals, and shoveled hot coals into the pit to maintain the temp. Good times and a lot of fun!
Smoky Ribs BBQ & Southern Cuisine Yes sir I remember those days myself. I'll come up with something. 🤔
Fire it up!
Nice 👍 easy job 👌
Thanks for watching
Reminds me of the pit we cooked on when I was growing up in the sixties. Best bbq ever!
Yes sir! Nothing like old school. Does just as good as the high dollar cookers. Thanks for watching!
Nice grill would like to try to make that.would like to see that bbg grill in action thanks for the video
It super easy to make. Thanks so much for watching.
You will love this. Now all you need is a burn barrel and a shovel. Oh, and the wood. Maybe 4 or 5 sawed logs to sit on. Lol That's a nice set up Scott. Lots of fun. Me and my brothers used to cook a whole hog on a similar setup (like Rus mentioned)at Christmas when mom & dad was still with us. We'd have a big time if it.Cant wait to see you use it. Great idea. I had thought if doing this last year but went another direction. Good job.
Thank you sir! I greatly appreciate the kind words. This brings back some great memories for me as well. I can't wait to use it. You're only a couple hours away from here. You need bring the family and come on down for a good ole country feast. :)
THEREALSHOWBBQ That could happen. We lived in Johnston County for 4 years when I worked in Raleigh. Took a day trip to Goldsboro once. Was planning to eat at McCalls BBQ restaurant on left going in on 70 but was closed. Lot of BBQ in Eastern NC, so I know you know what vinegar based pit cooked BBQ is all about.
Awesome

Derick Forehand Thanks bro. You'll have to come over sometime and we'll burn something. 😂 Thank for watching and the support.
Perfect. Exactly what I was thinking of and looking for and doing this summer. if I like it, I'll one for the farm and one for the campsite! I may modify one of them for my dutch oven cooking. Thanks for the vid, it was great!
Thank you mam! It so easy and cheap to do. Works just as good as those high dollar pits. 😁
