Awesome! I'm going to build this but add some decorative stones to make it look as good as it works! Thx guys!! This is just what a carnivore like me is looking for!
You're maybe 10 blocks and a big paver from a pizza oven! That fire base however will crack, even with a solid 16x24x1.5 paver if you achieve the temps necessary for pizza, trust me lol. So to upgrade, I cast my fire base stone in a wooden mould with refractory mortar, medium duty, with rebar. It's good to 2500 F. A good hardwood fire for pizza usually comes in around 1100-1200+ F (Lazer thermometer only goes to 1200 lol). Once heated, the refractory cooking surface stays hot with the rebar inside, I usually can get to 600-700 F inside the oven chamber in about a half hour (half a chimney of charcoal, then kindling, then split hardwood and the pizza cooks in 4-5 min and the convection flame temp that cooks the pizza top is adjusted by controlling airflow with a couple small flat pavers that move in and out manually as needed for fire control. Do you replace a cracked base stone here and there? YES! They're cheap hollow cinder blocks that crack if you drop them in the lawn! Thus the dry stack. By removing the oven "top" stone and 6-8 stones, you're back to it being a grill. I took it a bit further and have a Weber kettle Santa Maria unit with rotisserie that can sit over the fire and be secured with a couple of blocks. Pork loin, whole chicken, etc all come out wonderful. $120 with the refractory mortar and rebar. Another $100 for the SM unit. There is NOTHING that beats a nice wood fired pizza!

looks good except for one thing. I have a slab outside of my kitchen where I cook. I put some charcoal on that slab one time to get it ready for the grill, it got so hot it blew up and busted a small chunk of concrete out of my patio, those blocks your using for a fire grate are concrete, would it not do the same thing.
I have gotten this fire to 1000f with no issues. This is dry stacked so no mortar which probably helps with heat expansion. Also the slap is elevated no directly on the patio floor. Never had an issue. Check out my channel for the updates I did on this grill and thanks for your comment

No worries, found the right size at my local dicks store 🙏 , I was thinking of using the 36in one on top like you did in one of your man q video. What are your thoughts
Tip for next time do a scaled down model first then you won't be short on material, also drill a few small holes in the bottom of the flat pavers for air flow.it well generally increase heat. and grease build up well decrease , but it's cool good idea
So you recommend making some holes on the flat pavers where the wood goes? That might increase heat but below the flat pavers I store the wood and don't want ash and water to go through. I love the ideas though and I'm open to suggestions so we all learn something. Right now it gets hot and cooks fast because of the convection heat as well as radiant but I'm always open to suggestions. BTW I mock at least on paper would of been hood but it was in my head so I ended up needing material and changing things.

it is preferable to do it like this, the metal ones don't last long

The experience of cooking on this grill and the taste its 1000 times better than my expensive grill. I have this in the back of my yard back, way in the back where u can go relax and get the fire ready and enjoy. This is also something anyone can put together in their house if they can't afford an expensive grill or have a cheap grill that lasts one summer. This will outlast any grill and the food is better. This is also most people around the world grill. Thank you for your comment.
@@daP.A I would definitely like to try some food from there.wasnt thinking of that. I'm a Mason by trade so it's an easy fix for me but I understand most ppl can throw this up.and for that it's cool.do or thing man.best of luck
I like this option for a grill. About how much did it cost to get all the bricks and pavers?
Well I don't live in a frat house and I have something very similar. As to looking out the window and seeing this grill, I just throw a cover over it.
Nice getto grill!
Why thank you
