Was at a house party and this was the owners grill. I laughed at how it looked but now im thinking about making my own as it was some of the best bbq i had in a while. This simple DIY grill is amazing.
Hello there I just massage to know if you are open to business opportunities
the way the grill fits in the pot is so satisfying
I made one of these but with much larger plant pots. I have a second grate below the main one so I can put a metal bowl just above the coals. This give me a radiant heat deflector and it can hold water to control the heat when required. I have put handles on the either side of the top pot (they are some form of synthetic from an old electric pizza oven). The two handles allows for easier lifting. There is a small hole drilled in the side of the top pot to allow a thermometer to sit in giving me continuous readings. It works great and using preheated coals with some unheated coals, the heat can remain steady at 110 C (230F) for 5 hours or more (with water keeping the temp steady). You control the heat by the corks at the top and it is very effective. I didn't do this for cost, I did it as a project and it was a lot of fun and I was smoking in a couple of hours. The ceramic hold heat nicely and it's a great conversation piece.

Where did you find the larger pots
@@garrettlongest465 I’m fortunate enough to have a business near where I live that sells gardening equipment including an enormous range of pots, glazed and un-glazed.
@@bradhoward9165 does glazed or unglazed make a difference? Also how would this compare to the name brand ones?
This. Is. Ingenious. I made a cake in a flower pot once lol. Who knew they were so versatile!
they're doomed

My daughter has nagged me this afternoon “ for a barbecue “ and because I have a collection of old chimney pots , urastone flower pots , some grills and a tub of fire cement, I knew that somehow if I got them in the right order , I could knock something up to make a Cooker. Your vid is all I needed to get it together 😃 TA Very much Sir - regards from Wessex nr england 🧚♀️🍄🏴😇❤️
Simply amazing! It's like the big green egg but for far less money. It just needs a table.

Good idea I would add one thing and say you should buy a piece of cork that will go over the handle on the top that will help keep the handle cool when touching it
A wet rag works pretty well though.

I don't think that it's always a matter of not having the money to purchase a small grill....
I think that it's more of a matter of doing it because you can.... and like doing something different.... I cookout / grill all the time....
I have cooked burgers and steaks on top of flower pots.... even on top of trash can....
Why would I if I had a grill that I could have grilled them on.... Probably because I thought it.... wanted to try it.... they were all delicious and wasn't harmful....
It did prove a point that I could grill great food on mostly anything....
Great video !
Even gave me more ideas for some projects for myself to put in the making ♨️👍😎
Thank you for sharing. I’ve noticed a lot of comments with negativity which in my opinion is unnecessary. This is just a video showing another form of creativity that someone was willing to share. If it works for you than great however if it doesn’t that’s fine as well. Ask questions, provide suggestions and positive feedback. Constructive criticism is one thing but complaining is another. If you don’t like it don’t waste your time, and keep it moving. The world needs to be a better place not a negative space. Life is too short. Have a wonderful day to all!!!!!
I like that! I was thinking about building a tandoori oven in my backyard. Now I think I will just do this in my back porch.

I would suggest a domed pot for the top, it seems distribute the heat/smoke much better. This design came from Alton Brown over 15 years ago, and has worked great. I use grilling gloves to lift the top off, but I'll dry the U-bold handle. Thanks for the video.
As Mr. Brown suggested we use a hot plate with soaked chips in a pan.
I will go out and get the BBQ gasket material you suggest. - Thanks for the Video
He wasnt the first..
Adam - you are CRAZY GENIUS!!!!!!! thanks Dude!
I really love this idea...
Thanks
Excellent idea !!!!!!!!!!!!
Easy... looks very good...
And the best material to cook food !!!!!
It's so easy to make one after watching this video. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! No nonsense explanation for an easy project. I’m gonna try this.
CAPITAL IDEA !! Absolute winner for simplicity .
.. you're damn BRILIANT dude... i'm going to do that tomorrow...
Flower pot grill, great idea, thanks for sharing!!!
What an amazing idea.....!!! We will try it!!!
This is a beautiful idea for those who don't use their flower pots and it's just sitting their.
I never soak my wood chips. All it does is steam up until what little water has soaked in is gone, and you're back where you started. It's a time-release for the smoke, nothing more. Now, you could pair soaked next to unsoaked for longer smoking times. But the old adage about soaking your chips making it better is simply an urban legend.
I love this idea when my wife and I move this will be simple for us to put together.

That was pretty darn cool!
I'll be over for dinner latter? Very imaginative well done.
Cool idea. Would this actually.works as a slow smoker or more so just as a grill?
Very cool idea
Cool. I think I'll try a smaller version on my balcony...
What about cold winter climates, will the pot crack during winter smoking???
Get a Big Freen Egg on Craigslist.
there are a ton of them for 50 bucks
Cut a square hole out at an offset angle like you would a pumpkin on the side of the bottom pot, embed magnets in the pot and square piece you just cut out and you could have an opening for adding more charcoal
Nice...I have to try it
love the creativity
this is brilliant. thanks for sharing
when cooking sausage make sure you cut strips into it so you release all the juice and flavor !
Does the lead in the clay pot affect the food???
Super idea!!!!
Cool and best idea.. Thanku for sharing 👍🏻
this is awesome impressive and simple love it
How did the grill fit perfectly on the top???
How would you add to the coals and add more wood if needed later while cooking?
Hello there COVID-19 is still distributing in your country
The platform you put the coals on? Where do you get that size?

Excellent 👍
I actually saw a guy enter a SCA (Steak cookoff competition) using a large flower pot. Funny stuff.
Well done video... thanks
Dude bad ass.
Do u have to put a casket on it and do u need ventilation holes
Masonry drill bits work well too, to avoid possible cracking of the clay pots! Cool!! I mean,... hot!
WELL DONE ! Very clever ,thank you !!!
Love the easy idea
Wooow😍 thank you very much
Cool idea
Great ideas!
Superb idea 💡 😇😇

aww, poor dog.
actually the dog was loving it, it was probably a cheap steak
Super!
Excellent !!
This is like a throwback to alton brown's good eats where he smokes a pork shoulder. Way pre youtube, i imagine the first uploader of this setup got this from good eats. I want to try it personally but i have a grill with an offset smoker box so i dont need it but one day i wana try it.
mixwell1983 yep saw this on AB Good Eats.
thanks for sharing..
Amazing. I will try this. Thanks.👏🏼
Please forgive my noobie ignorance, but can I smoke, for example, brisket in this , or is it more for BBQ than all day smoking ?
Epic mate
Hands down, this is better than spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a grill.Just get a handle that is thickly padded, or wrap the handle with that new product Flextape!! Yeeee Doggggyyyy!!
That is brilliant! Honestly, respect ✊
This is a very attractive way to grill I always hate looking at a covered grill in the back with this surrounded by plants..... good idea.
Wow awesome video super creative. I have a BGE and love it but the college version of myself would do this in a heartbeat.
Great work on video mate
nice budd, professsional style but simple, will surely try this out
Should put a piece of gasket between ubolt and nut.
Amico sei un genio!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Smart idea buddy
Awesome!!!!!👏😊
That was awesome what a good idea
You are amazing!🥳👏🏻
Does Belair Direct Insurance cover you for burns?
Throw some black high heat grill paint on the outside of that and it would look even cooler
Qué es lo que tiene en el agua y cual es la finalidad al ponerla en el fuego? Si me puede ayudar por favor? Gracias saludos desde Chiapas, México 🙅 ❤
oh trust me I will be making that
You are great bro ...love from India.
Brilliant. I wonder if you can use the decorated ones as well to give the backyard a little visual pop.
As long as the decoration is a glaze it should be fine.
I love the idea.thank you for sharing
Thank you
Dont you have to keep temp at certain levels, how would you do that if you have to pull grill up with food on it ?
Hello there I just massage to know if you are open to business opportunities
