My issue is: yes, you're paying for a rugged truck and MOST people dont mind the sound system. However, another truck in a similar price range using an alpine or bose system will blow this out of the water
May not be a truck, but I have a 2024 Nissan Z with the upgraded Bose system with subwoofer. Sold my Ford with the 12 speaker Sony system with two 12 inch woofers. The JBL in my new Tacoma blows the Z out of the water, and the Ford. If the Tacoma could hit into the sub bass with clarity it'd be damn near perfect. I enjoy it's clarity. Warmth and really good lows for a stock system, I am actually really impressed, and it plays relatively loud without any fatigue, only thing I've done is cranked the bass up on the system and it does really well
I will add that there is a company that makes an after market "plug n play" AMP specifically for this JBL. It was very easy to install and honestly it made a pretty impressive difference. It's atleast a better option than spending 5k or more on a whole new sound system installed
@khsbaseball16 beatsonic. Im not sponsored by them, but highly recommend it. Pretty easy to install. There's youtube videos how to do it along with instructions. And the enhancement is pretty noticeable
I want to replace the speakers in the in the front dash and the two in the pillars, it is impossible to find the pillar speaker size. Not 1 youtube video with actual 2024 (Gen4) I have not seen one video with the pillar speakers???
@DailyMotorSound Also the Fender system is the exact same one you reviewed in the 2022 Frontier. I might trade my 2024 Frontier Pro4x for a 4th Gen Tacoma but if the JBL isnt as good as the Fenders, I might not do it either.
i notice my right ear doesn't sound as fuller as the left, even though im wearing HD6XX's, and i think that is because the audio is bouncing off of the left window, while the right side has an open space. very interesting experience, and proves that room acoustics and soundstage is real. it will cost more effort, but perhaps you can switch seats for different hearing POVs?
Hello. Great video! Love all your videos when it comes to audio reviews. Would you still think that the Bose Macan stereo that you gave an A to would be better than this? Thanks
Portable speakers have become a scourge in wilderness areas, just like trashy boat stereos on lakes (much louder). I'd only use that for quiet podcasts, etc.
I have the “auto sound leveling” off, but I swear some of my songs play louder than others. I’ll play a song and have the volume on 50 and it barely bangs, but then the next song comes on and it’s louder. All music from Apple Music, non of it it’s like downloaded or whatever, what’s going on?
Make sure you have soundcheck turned off in the settings for Music app on the iPhone. That helped a ton for me, but some songs are just mastered at different volume levels so not much else you can do.
On the SR5 model they do not have this center speaker and just leave a hole there. It should at least have a filler plate. That said the sound is pretty good. I am not paying an extra $10K for more bells and whistles and a few more speakers. The newer (compared to my 21 model), electronics system is perplexing how to get from android auto back to the audio menu, other than selecting the Tacoma widget in Android auto. Prices are up a lot in the last 3 years.
Forget about to sound I see that it still tight in that back seat area. I can imagine with those front seat styles it's probably a knee killer back there.
too bad the removable center device cannot play car as source when removed...it would be nice to use Sirius XM when you're in the middle of nowhere (off road!). Definitely a design oversight
I have a 2024 TRD Sport with the JBL system. It's OK, nothing special. Sound seems to be heavily weighted towards the front dash. I did the 'sound leveler' thing, but it didn't seem to improve much. If this didn't comes as a pkg money wise, I'd rather take it to a dedicated vehicle sound dealer and let them do their thing.
I have the Sport and the front removable, takes over everything but the subwoofer. If I could have opted out of the JBL system I would have and spent the money at a car audio business. Probably would have speakers put in the rear headrests.
On my 24 Tacoma TRD Sport with the JBL system and the EQ all at the factory position has the a rattle/vibration on the passenger side door panel. The rattle/vibration comes from the right behind part on the panel that says TRD. No its not me putting the radio too loud, so its not that. Anyone else have that problem? Haven't taken it to the dealer yet.
Nevermind, looks like it supports the following; Playback of MP3/WMA/AAC/WAV/FLAC/ALAC/Ogg Vorbis... just doesnt go into much detail as to specifics of Bit Depth or Sampling rate.
This looks promising…but Toyota and JBL should be embarrassed by the last Generation Tacoma JBL sound system…my 21 Tacoma system loses power to the audio and heat soaks after about 20 min of play…
Doesn’t supurise me, have you tried bringing it to the dealer and seeing what they say. But what i would do is just take it all out and just upgrade it, will sound leagues better with 2 or 1 smaller sub.
@@turn6707 oh believe me, I tried that…they only swapped out the head unit which wasn’t the issue…the amp heat soaks which powers all speakers and the small sub..it sounds good at first but then just tanks…also CarPlay sucks when talking to someone on phone…what system you get instead?
@@dms14 Honestly I would just upgrade the whole system, I did that to my 2nd gen with JBL, the stock jbl systems are garbage and just horrible Its unacceptable. For fitment the 2nd gens and 3rd gens are almost alike except the tweeter location. For recommendations I just went on TH-cam and saw what other people did. I also used Crutchfield which helped with speaker size and I bought all of my speakers there because it came with all of the speaker brackets and wireing harness for the stereo. For my tweeters I used the Kicker KSC270 they are a big upgrade. Now for the 6x9 front door speakers I used Rockford Fosgate P1692. For the rear door speakers I used Rockford Fosgate R1675X2. Now for the subs in the back you could do to tacotunes and get 1 or 2 subs and a fosgate amp. It will sound 1000 times better then the single jbl woofer you will just have to run power and RCA. For the headunit should be "good" but if you want to upgrade you could good a good kenwood or sony (the one I have Xav ax 5600) unit off of crutchfield and they do sound good when talking on the phone. Also people on Tacomaworld could give good recommendations. My uncle and his 2023 3rd gen did about the same but did infinity and put a 8inch powered subwoofer in the back. He also sound deadended it which helped with road noise and speaker clairty which I did to and it helped.
Rare in cars/trucks almost every modern halo motorcycle has one, that being said a v4 or crosplane I4 in a truck would be amazing (outside of a V8 but we have to be realistic) @@joes610
My 2014 jbl sound system is incredibly poor in sound quality. Coupled with toyotas failure to sufficiently address squeaks and rattles, the stereo makes the situation much worse. As far as the new Tundra goes, I've heard nothing good. It's a shame, but no surprise that jbl took no pride in the tuning of this stereo especially with the superior offerings by bose in the gmc and the b&o in the ford's. Another failure for toyota.
JBL is just garbage Toyota should have something better. My parents had the Toyota Sequoia with JBL and Nissan Armada with Bose and the Bose beat the JBL by miles. My parents got rid of the Sequoia and kept the Armada since no one really used it.
I truly don't understand the cost 😮 $64K with a 4 cyl and it is only a few inches smaller than a full size truck ??? When is Toyota going to listen to the die hard Toyota owners and put the aluminum V8 in this basically full size truck , towing with a 4 cylinder is so difficult long distance , so no toys or trailers I guess if you are a city crawler it would be fun
Lmao they can't put V8 even in there full size Tundra because emissions standards are to strict. As V8's are a dieing breed thanks to government over reach. In 10 years you won't be able to even get ice engine
I bought one a week ago and I am SO disappointed with this JBL system. It might be okay but my Nissan was AT LEAST twice as loud. This stereo was designed for old people elevator music. You can't hear the back at all and if you fade it to the back then the volume problem gets even worse. I spent over 50k for this truck and IMO the sound system is trash. Unnecessarily complicated and overall the stereo sounds like crap. Yeah I know it'll run for 300K miles. I still want my Nissan back. The stock stereo in my Nissan blows the shit off of this trash system. Why have 10 speakers when there's virtually no volume to it? Thanks Toyota. Now I'm going to have to spend another grand to get decent sound in my truck.
Nice video man nobody does in depth sound system tests really appreciate it.
I love JBL This truck is pretty sick. I love it.
62k for a inline 4 turbo😂😂😂
I got the TRD Sport with the same audio options. It sounds much better than the stereo system in my 23’ 4Runner.
Does it have a heads up display? Thought I seen on some videos
I love Toyota’s 15speaker JBL sound system. It sounds great on the 4runner limited

Hi, I remember you doing the Fender system in the Frontier. I was wondering how this JBL compared to the Fronts Fender system?
Good question, I'm going to get into the '25 Frontier in the next few months and I will compare

How does this compare to the Sequoia TRD Pro’s sound system? Given that you’ve now rated both a B?
Does the dealer provide a charging cable for the removable speaker?
Are they out in the wild now? Expecting a call any day now then! Thanks for the upload!
