in my opinion , the sound of instruments in B&O is very natural , compared to B&W or Burmester

Do you have some overall thoughts of the Bowers and Wilkins sound system in the BMW 8 series. I think it will be way more better than the HK system

I got a brand new Cx5 sport preferred and didn't love the 6 speaker system. Came from an escape titanium with Sony (kinda loved) and wanted more bass! Made appointment to have sub installed. After a few weeks of driving, the sound got a lot better! After a little researching, i come to find out that the speakers need to be broke in a bit before they reach their potential. That has proven to be my experience. If you buy a car with 50 miles on it, give it a min, you might be surprised.

Well that is a deal breaker. A decent amp and equalizer would set the company back $80. Yes $80. Not included? Nope and no way. The EV9 was my top pick, now it is gone off the list entirely.

The 10 speaker ELS system from the previous gen MDX and TLX had very forward and prominent midrange. It's odd that Acura gave us more speakers but less midrange.

Lexus NX Mark Levinson sounds better than this.

Tesla in B is absolute crazy work. So many audiophiles say it has the best frequency response. I mean its easily the best I have heard and I have even been in a Rolls Royce. Putting toyota at the same level with its v sharp peircing garbage is just beyond me.

Excellent sound video. I love music and it’s important for me the quality of music when I drive. A question, how would you rate blocking the outside noise in highway while driving this car? (1-10) 1- lowest rate as bad.

Please share the file format and bit rate info. Do you know the system requirements or limitations? I know the previous ELS system was a bit picky.

Great review, I currently have a 22 Type S. I think the ELS is pretty good except for the bass quality. I had to add a sub and I think it sounds fantastic now. I would love to hear how the 25 Type S sounds in person

I have a 23 Accord EX and this 8 speaker system is perfect for most people, and as we all know majority rules. So lets stop the whining 🤣

Those are probably usb-c's for charging, the real one is hidden to the right of gear selector - push it and it will show usb-a and usb-c. Great video, nice music, tho I still miss ELS

On the BMW website, it says this stereo has 40 speakers. But the Bowers & Wilkins website says this stereo has 36 speakers. I can’t figure out the discrepancy.

Hey Charlie, what file type are you using on that USB stick for the 5.1 tests? I downloaded the Immersive Audio file you use "IAA - Sonic Brand Visualizer 7.1.4.mp4", and it's obviously in MP4 format. The B&O in the Acura ZDX wouldn't read the file and I haven't tested it in an MDX yet. It does work on the ELS systems however. Are you using the MP4 format or did you convert it into something else? Thanks.

This is just my personal opinion, but it’s absolutely unacceptable that you cannot control the bass, treble, or midrange. Until I bought my 2021 Audi RS7 with the $4,900 optional Bang and Olufsen Advanced sound system, I had never experienced a vehicle stereo that did not have a midrange adjustment feature. I don’t understand why Bang and Olufsen doesn’t let the driver have more control and adjustability with the sounds settings in their stereos. Although my car stereo doesn’t have the Beosonic sound control that this Acura has, it does have bass and treble controls - but no midrange! I finally found that if you use Spotify premium, which has a built-in equalizer, it completely changes the sound quality of the stereo and really makes it shine. I now love the stereo in my RS7, as Spotify and its built-in equalizer transformed it into a completely different sounding system in my opinion.

Thanks for the review!! Like I’ve mentioned in the past, I’ve never owned a car where the default sound settings sound the best. However this does give me some prospective of what to expect.

Is the Mark Levinson in the 2024 Lexus NX the same as the RX?

Needs those midrange drivers to be mounted further forward or up on the dash. I have active 3 way front and single 10 in the boot of my rs4 and I can absolutely guarantee in terms of sq it’ll destroy this on every level possible not on overall volume but it’s loud enough. A simple setup with a good install (midbass are in door enclosures) is way better than 31 average speakers with an average tune. We have a new q5 at home with b&o, for a factory fit it’s good but there’s zero comparison to my car system and I haven’t spent huge money on mine!

Will you test the new 2025 Genesis GV80 Bang and Olufsen system?

I think I prefer the previous ELS mids to this setup. Still not bad though!

Makes me trust ur reviews a lot more. So many people fall for placebo that 31 speakers make it S tier. There’s no point of having over 14-18 speakers if it’s tuned properly

Why did Acura move away from the Panasonic ELS system?

This makes me love the Bose system in the Porsche Macan even more than I already do. This 31-speaker system got the same score from Charlie as the 14-speaker Bose system in the Macan. Way to go Porsche!!! 😁

Not sure if you tried the base 8 speaker sound system in a Mazda 3 (hatch/sedan), but would you say it's the same as this non-Bose CX-30?

Is this the same system that is in the 2023-2025 X7?
