Love your video on daily life since I will be retiring there in few years from USA .
Well that explains the dead patches of grass around the troopy mate
Oh gosh I could live off noodle soup. We have been back in Australia a year from backpacking South East Asia with our kids and everyday we miss noodle soup. The kids are so over Vegemite and cereal! 😅
I've grown up in the US and I love the noodle soup, plus it's healthier than McDonald's
Same here. I love almost all asian food. Here in Arkansas, that same bowl of noodles would coat $10 USD AND I would have to drive at least 20 minutes to get it. This sort of food is my comfort food, but it is expensive. Even a basic tomyum imported instant noodle packet is $1. Some insyant noodles sell for $5.
Much healthy than McDonalds here in Laos.. There is no McDonalds here 🙁
"Healthier than McDonald's"? Talk about a low bar.
It's not much healthier than Mcdonalds. Both are cheap carbs that spikes your blood sugar (and can lead to Insulin Resistance) You should see Asians in the US that eat noodles everyday. Buncha fatties 😂
Howdy Todd,,well,,,I damn near missed commenting on this video! 😂😅 I've tried to watch it the last 2 nights ,,but fell asleep early. I woke up at 4 a.m. this morning and remembered that I hadn't seen this one yet,,so here we are,,or to quote the scrawny guy in I think the 2nd Mad Max movie,,,"no matter where ya go,,there ya are" 😂😅..it appears that the entire licensing thing is a bit of a pain in the ass. Hope you get it all fitted out with what you guys need , before June. I predict that for the last quarter,, Mina ❤❤❤ is up to number 2 in her class.. Hope you guys have a great week. Ttyl,,,Marlon
Very informative, as far as registering vehicles in Laos. I hope you are putting a roll cage into yours (as shown in the other Troopy), given some of the roads and terrain you travel. Cheers
They're leaving you some bonus cow manure to fertilise your plants, saves on mowing the lawn
Hi Todd, glad the Troopy is working out mate. Just a tip, if ever you lose a Windscreen, absolutely make sure all the old Sikaflex is scraped out before a new one goes in, or it will leak, it goes hard, the Plenum should come off, scrape, it's easy. Keep up the good work, good luck with Minas Passport, Visa, all the best, 😊.
Great work with the tips John, appreciate it, thanks!
Hey mate yeah we use J&C for our car insurance, have used them since 2021, like you said great company for expats living in Laos for everything. You can’t worry about dirt/dust getting on your car in Laos lol, it’s a part of life, wash your car in the morning by the afternoon it will be just a dirty again 😂 take care mate
Very interesting, informative video! You got lucky; proceed with your next adventure with Neenee and Mina. Stay well and safe too.
Yeah, if you can find local food you enjoy, you can get away with a very low food budget, it's great! Good luck with the Troopy
Thank you for giving all this information about car ownership issues and for the link to J&C Group. Lots of information there for expats.
In the states , the DOV , The bureaucracy that handles registration, deeds ownership etc. can round circles around your brain. One thing is for sure you'll get it sorted out. Hope you guys are doing ok. All the best 👍👍 Jim and Harriet
They take grazing the long acre to a whole new level in Laos Todd.
Dunno if you guys use that in Oz but it means letting your cows out on the road to eat up the roadside grass. Normally electric fenced or supervised lol.
That long acre is a whole different level over here mate 😆👍
todd there is a new system out for puntures its a screw with glue in the threds and you just screw it in the hole but you need a power drill to screw it in a battery operated drill
The things you try and avoid! I can still hear the words in my head: 'Beer Lao Beer Lao".
Hahaha.. what a great story that is! Hope you're getting your strength back mate 👍
Todd not eating like a Lao allows him to keep his Aussie shape which NeeNee Loves.. isn’t that right Todd?😉😜
Good Luck With The Visa
That's a nice big pile of Somersby cider behind you, Todd.
I guess one "advantage" of all the speed cameras and such in Australia is that nobody here would ever want to sell to someone else without the registration switching over.
Just had my Sunday evening of toast, butter and Heinz Baked Beans when you spoke about them.
How about toasted Vegemite of a morning? Cheese on toast under the griller? Tomato soup and
buttered toast? Buttered toast even? Id die for a bowl of tradition noodle though!
How good does buttered toast smell ay! 😋
@@NowinLao Butter on buttered toast, smells and tastes alarmingly good!
If it's a government car, then its probably tax free, so you won't be able to register it under your own name, if you don't have any rights to own a tax free car, as only the government, foreign companies, and expats of development organisations (INGO) get tax exemption.
Todd! I wonder how you are able to stand with this kind of least developing country, everywhere you go it's all dirty roads, awfully smell and dusty. I just took a one month vacation to come to Laos this past January, I'm hardly waiting until the time to come back home in the US.
Hi Todd, my local pub charging $8.30 Au a schooner,
😲 I just fell over!
WAS , the Lucky Country!
@@NowinLao , they have $6 schoolies at 6pm fridays only for 2 hrs

You need to be wealthy to drink in Oz .. that’s 😮😮
I hear you, Todd. I'm hmong, married to a Filipino, and I can't do pho or any noodle soup every day. Once or twice a month will do. I need a variety of food in my life 😅.
I was born in Lao and left after the war in 1976.
I don’t like the thing like they did to you about your vehicle that’s why I don’t want to come back to visit.
Corruptive government
I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood what happened. The people who bought the vehicle from the government never changed the registration. This had nothing to do with the government.
I love noodle soups. My wife will eat noodle soup instead a heavy meal. Cheers
I love a bowl of noodle soup or a bowl of rice soup but when I was cycling across Malaysia I found it difficult to eat roti canai for breakfast it's basically a flat bread with a curry to dip it in, but when you need to eat you need to eat
🤗🙏🏼!🇬🇧
I get you, on the noodle dishes Todd, my husband has never tried any, we’ve been married for 42 years. I just had some baked beans on toast for the first time though, here in UK. I was eating the beans with a spoon, my son had to tell me that they put them on toast Lol…😂
Enjoyed the video, thank you. Hope Mina’s visa goes well.
Take care.
Haha Neenee tried baked beans on toast. Now I can't make any without getting her some 😆👍
Regarding noodles in SE Asia not being filling, most noodles in SE Asia are made from rice flour.
Noodles in Western countries are usually made from wheat.
Very nice design and modification of the owner's Troopy; adding features to make it more comfortable. On to the next adventure.......
Stay tuned for the updates 😊👍
Know what you mean about looking at your vehicles when going outside or garage lol 😊 it’s a car guy thing. The Trooper is just a cool looking vehicle.
Love the noodle soup in Thailand. as for air condition for the troopy maybe have a look at 12Volt Caravan roof unit or I did see one on a USA video that kind of hung on the back door and blew in where the window was just idea's for you cheers dude and dudets🙏
Hey Keith.. Yeah, have looked at AC units extensively, and there is no real perfect solution for the climate we have here. The portable ones just don't cut it. Way too expensive those rooftop units, and not real fussed about having a unit hanging off the back of the Troopy. I think we can cannibalise a system to suit what we need. He's got the fans under his Troopy and if we find a better spot for the compressor and move the head unit up high so we still have all that space.. we're set mate. We never know unless we try. We might be onto something.. some will say overkill, but the ones saying that haven't experienced the hot season here in SEA. We're in our 9th day of 42+ degrees celsius and doesn't look like letting up. Rain season can't come quick enough mate.
Cheers, thanks for the input👍
I would eat noodles every morning in Asia, (guayteo-nam) until I discovered chicken congee, pork congee, prawn, but the best noodle soup hands down is Mohinga, in Myanmar
G'day Tod, good outcome with the troopy mate. Laos sounds grouse with the cost of everything in general. Seriously considering living there part time ay👍
Yes.. very happy with the outcome. Now to get this Troopy transformed 👌😉
I like egg noodles with crispy pork belly
Have you had tomatoes 🍅 on toast seasoned with black pepper todd?
nail varnish remover to remove numbers off
Well done guys navigating the paperwork for the troopy.... its compilcated enough here in Aus buying a used car!! As for that timing belt, get done asap! Last thing you need is a top end engine rebuild if it fails. Putting an aircon that size in a car blows me away! Look forward to seeing your other mods. As always, thanks! ❤
Timing belt booked in for tomorrow 👌😉
nee nee is struggling after her injury
Noodles - same for me in Thailand, my wife can live on them. I have them for lunch now and again if dry and not with the wallpaper paste goo😢
Guay jab or guay teow is tasty, but not for brekkie, and I prefer pork or chicken. Like you, I find those grey balls a bit unappetising, but will eat it if there's no choice.
I have the same problem, after 14 years of living with a Cambodian I still don’t get full from their food. I eat it all and like it but 1 hour later I will be hungry again
hi guys
I could not cross the top boarder, only Lao nationals could, I took bus to Sam Nua, there was a dirt track crossed close to there, it was a kilometre long walk, to a bambo shack, no electricity had to wake up the border guard take a 30 motor bike ride to closest village take bus, to a hire motor bike to Diem Bien Phu, 35 years ago still hundreds of troops patrolling the boarders, I was stoped and searched every day, even followed by police shop to shop! but I’d was a fascinating place. rode over the fansapan mountains to Sapa, and happy days.
I love. Your videos, I am living what I missed though your eyes and your lovely wife .your a good man and a good Aussie thanks.
You making backdoor entries Todd? The whole of Asia is not in any hurry mate. Bushyboy Oz
OK today I see Neenee is still limping. Hope the foot is healing well.
Slowly getting there mate. It's probably about 6 weeks now since she did it
Im well travelled but I agree with you with that particular noodle soup in the vlog. Hot water, fat, and noodles.....yuk
Get with the program and learn how to eat noodles!
Oh I've learnt.. Doesn't mean I have to like them 😝
Hi Todd which laos city has job opportunities? I had an 2 year experience in hotel and hospitality management
Todd paint thinner or women's nail polish remover will take that writing on you window film. It doesn't annoy you? Anyway cheers mate.
Never see it while I'm driving.. only notice it after having the camera up to it, that's why I always forget to remove it 😆 Done now though 👍
NGO projects also get the blue plates so the police check points probably figured that farang is part of a project. I don't think they thought you are part of the government. It hurts me to see Neenee walk.
In have a 1999 1HZ 4.2 Landcruiser i changed timing belt at 300000 it had been done before at 150000 it looked brand new but still put new one onnot that hard to do that is if you know what you are doing .Just replaced radiator watern pump and fitted new altenator under $500 aust got to be carefull there are different sizes in radiator any way safe travels
Thanks Graeme.. Yeah, I got no idea what I'm doing 😆
Cheers mate, stay tuned for the updates 👍
We recently bought a car in Laos. Paid more than half cash and the rest over a period of 2 years monthly as stated in the sales contract. Can or should my lao spouse go to the land transport office and change it to her name? It's still registered with the previous owner
Feel very pity that your wife still can't walk properly. Hope gets better soon. 🙏
Hopefully it starts to get better soon.. Just on 6 weeks now, so that's about right for a break 👍
In Australia it is the 'registered holder' of the motor vehicle. The registered holder is not necessary the owner of the vehicle.
It is not unusual for the registrated holder to be different from the owner.
Many cars are leased or being bought on hire purchase.
The owner of the vehicle is the finance company.
Many vehicles are held by novated leases for tax purposes.
I would have thought that many countries would have same thing because not many people buy cars for cash.
Traffic fines are not issued to the banks and finance companies. 😂
It's starting to get easier for people to finance their vehicles here, but a huge percentage of them are still bought with cash here. It's why you see so many homes here at varying stages of construction for many years.. they build as they get the cash.
👍🙂
As you age protein is vital to remaining healthy more protein than you might think.
Very much so 👌
The Australian government are currently issuing 700,000 visas a year , to all and sundry , in theory should no be a problem from Nina. ???
Troopy heaven todd, maybe you could "hang on" to those blue plates even if you get issued new plates,. thailands as bad, i bought a car in bkk, seller insured it for us,it was road taxed already for 9 months, but i had to get it inspected at my local thai mv offices, they issued new plates for our provence, thais love admin and reams of paperwork , good job my thai g/f was with me as my head was spinning ,.(they kept the old plates) it cost a few thousand baht, it turns out i could have left it with the bkk plates on,. i dont know what difference it would make,.its a thai thing, plus it had to be blessed by the local monk,.!,. and i got reg book in g/fs name as it was more hassle to have it in farang name,.where was mina in this video ?,.school ?,. get cam belt done quick to,....
aha love it, bloody cattle, get off my land :) Personally i would love to be able to get by for £1.50 per day uk in terms of eating, healthy food as well in my opinion.
I feel for you Todd your stressen mate, you can't even eat. Hope things work out todd and family, maybe just a bribe, seems to work in Lao. Then they will chuck you in jail, have to be so careful mate. Things will work out.👍👌🙏.
Leave the blue plates on todd, 😂 free pass when travelling, please don't stress mate.
They're staying on for as long as I can get away with it now 👌😆
nee nees ankle still poorly
Todd, do you drive on an international drive permit?
Yes 👍
@@NowinLao me too... I've a 500b thai note conveniently placed inside 555
What a ballsup Todd. I'm wondering if the Government guy sold it illegally on the quiet and pocketed the dough, looks suspiciously like it. Is there a possibility it could be reclaimed by the Govt Dept and you lose your deposit? What year is it Todd? Poor Neenee hope her foot gets better soon. Bob.
Yeah, I'm not so sure about that as it even has the Yellow book and the original Blue Ownership card with it. My guess is whoever bought it left it registered to the government to avoid paying the tax on it. Apparently this happens a lot 😏
snorts and hoofs
Dude you need to eat different types of food who cares what you grew up eating. The many times I went to China I ate donkey, duck head and duck blood even tried dog 😮nothing wrong with a good bowl of noodles especially Pho. The Troopy definitely looks nice with the bumper, lights and snorkel when will we see a river crossing 😅
Lol.. I eat many different types of food and eat a very healthy diet actually. I'm just not a fan of noodles.. do you like Vegemite? 😆👍
Meant to say "proceed on your next adventure" Unavoidable "Senior moments" when you;re 74 years old and counting. Hahahahahaha
All good mate 😉👍
Thank you
And yet we eat Macca's, dim sims , chicken McNuggets 😂 all horrible shit food, Lao noodles any day.
oh dear mate, you just booed off the next 6 months of steaks lol.. your same as me mate, meat man only, i cant stomach any fats or skins.. My wife orders my beans off the net lol, Your wife bless her is still limping.. Keep them blue plates mate, something I shall keep in mind next time.. Buy an ex gov car lol..
cant you afford razor blades
Hardly any fat Lao people. Because they eat a lot of soup and salad. A healthy life style is better than the Western diet , anyday.
For sure! So easy and cheap to eat healthy here 👌
