    1. "OH! It's the meme song!..." *HEAD DESK* *HEAD DESK* *HEAD DESK*
    2. It's a cover, the ONLY cover that Simon and Garfunkel ever publicly praised.
    3. This song is about the death of Music/Freedom/Liberty...

    • @cptmiller132
      @cptmiller132 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      odd... the popular theory is that the song is about depression

    • @cptmiller132
      @cptmiller132 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Tyler Buckley actually after making this comment i watched a couple more of these reaction videos and someone posted a link to a video of S&G talking about what the song was about and they said it's about communication and people listening to their and other people's emotions and us needing to help other people in need and instead we listen to our own biases bigotry and preconceived notions... and yes it does have anti vietnam war messages in it too... but to be fair to me i wasn't entirely wrong either as depression is the most popular thought on what this song is about even disturbed have talked about depression before or after they play this song...

      @@cptmiller132 It's about the selfish, self-gratifying nature of our modern party society (the neon god they made). People don't care about others, they only care about their own superficial pleasure. I'm guessing the term "neon god" is supposed to evoke images of Times Square or the Las Vegas Strip.

    • @cptmiller132
      @cptmiller132 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Diana_L. no i literally just said what it was about... you can't take 1 word from the whole song and assume the whole song is about that...

    • @Diana_L.
      @Diana_L. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cptmiller132 I'm not contradicting what you wrote, just expanding on it. I'm in my 60's. In my young years, the "neon lights" used to be a frequently used metaphor for the amusement districts of our cities. OF COURSE, the song is about lack of communication., but that lack comes about because people are too busy chasing cheap thrills and sensations.

    Friendly advice: Play the song twice. During the first play don't pause it or speak over it. Let your facial reactions show the audience how the song makes you feel. Then provide analysis during the second play (whether pausing or speaking over the song). Keep up the good work!

    I thought you did well in your review. Your style is your style, so well done. I like to hear people in music give their opinions on this cover. I only stumbled onto this a week ago and I was/am blown away. For me, David Draiman's voice is the star of this performance. His clear enunciation and incredible range are such a treat, so smooth. Paul Simon's lyrics were always the strong suit of this song, even though when listening to the original version you always get caught up in their harmony. I had the original album when I was a kid, so I am familiar with S&G. The best cover of any song I have ever heard. The negative commenters just wanted to hear someone legitimize their opinions, imo.

    Meme song? That made my head hurt.

  • @elenadinu7576
    @elenadinu7576 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The original version is done by Simon & Garfunkel, back in 1964. The lyrics are written by Paul Simon. It's a folk song, talking about how technology (television, back those times) would make people loose direct contact with each other. A warning, if you want.
    Disturbed is a heavy metal band, as you've already got. The lead singer, David Draiman, has a very powerful, unique, incredibly versatile voice.
    Since the message of this song is now more real than ever before, their rendition is kind of sounding more like a battle cry, but still respecting the original. Love it, as I love Disturbed as a band, they are my nr1, they have good stuff out there, including some really nice ballads like "A Reason to Fight", "Hold on to Memories", "Uninvited Guest", "Darkness", "Already Gone".
    Nice reaction, you got a new subscriber. 👍

    you guys need to watch a few more reaction videos to figure out how to do it properly, especially with amazing performances like this. Check how many times the Disturbed live has been viewed and catch a clue. Do not talk over obvious change-ups and powerful moments. PAUSE the video to comment, don't talk over the song with full sentences. You're losing the power of the song/performance by doing that. It's akin to you performing to a room full of people while they're eating and chatting and not really hearing you. There are reasons this was nominated for a Grammy
    Last bit of advice - if you ever get around to Nightwish's Ghost Love Score, Wacken 2013 - DO NOT talk over Floor, especially the last few notes - the Nightwish army would lose their minds and there are a lot of us - room for improvement, bro. Good luck with more of these
