    Great video. I've been thinking about going this route with that Striker Skiff as opposed to a Bonafide SS127. I plan to use a trolling motor or motor as my primary power source as I'm a 100% disabled vet and not looking to paddle.

      I was also looking at the Bonafide SS127 but glad I took this route. The Striker in my opinion s a better platform to add whatever you may need. Also, the Striker is more stable and you will be able to sit higher. Thanks for you service.

    Very good video, incredibly informative. Great idea using the aluminum platefor support to mount the seat. Distributes the weight evenly.
    I've been looking at this model for quite some time. Wasn't sure how to gear it the way I wanted. I have a Hobie PA14 so the H rail mounts that I have on it should work on the Striker too. Love my PA14 but this would extend my range. Great work!

      Awesome to hear that. All I was looking was to help someone out there and sounds like I accomplished my goal. I hear good things about the PA14 and is hard to compared them both since they are so different. But if you are looking for range, speed and a very stable platform to fish from! This is it. Good luck out there.

    Had a question on the gas tank. How do you keep it from moving around? Did you do anything special to keep it stable?

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing special my friend. Just a bungee cord attached to th eseat and you should be all set.

    I really liked the video, just wondering if there is any difference between the striker skiff and the hoodoo hero skiff. In the market to pick one up just wondering why you got rid of the hoodoo. Thanks for your video.

      The Hoodoo Hero 130 and the Striker Skiff are the same skiff. They are made by Zero Kayak in China and imported to USA by 3 different companies that I know. Hoodoo Sports (Hero 130), Nirvana Watersports (Striker Skiff) and Brooklyn Kayak (MK13). I personally will recommend Nirvana Watersports. Family own (down in Florida) and Nelson is an awesome guy with lots of knowledge and more importantly STOCK. You want to deal with someone not just to buy the skiff,, but also to be there for you if you have any guarantee issues. I travel a lot for work and my time is very limited. I just purchased a 20’ center console and the little time I have now! Will be use for the boat. I needed some cash to get some things with the boat and sold my Striker Skiff. But I am already in communication with Nirvana because I really miss my Striker and will definitely purchase one more soon. I have to start from scratch again,, but it will be fun to put my hands on one again.

    Really enjoyed watching your videos. Just picked up a used Hoodoo yesterday and I’m looking forward to rigging it and putting it on the water soon. What size bolts do you use on the track nuts?

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome man. Glad you like the videos. You will have a blast with your Hoodoo for sure. The track nuts take a 6mm bolt. Thanks for watching and have fun.

    What kind of speed are you getting g with the 6hp? What pin setting? I tried to email you earlier by email on your about info. I have a hero and have a bunch of questions. I copied your hinge idea on the hatch but used well nuts instead so I don’t have bolts coming out.

      @spanglishangler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there. I was averaging 12 mph with the 6hp. Also, the pin was to the last most vertical position. Awesome that you were able to improve my concept. I love mine and sold about 5 months ago to be able to buy a boat for the family. Now I may look for another one since I am missing my Striker Skiff a lot. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

    Cheers 🍻! I own a hero 130 which is basically the same thing . I have to buy the engine and my question is how is your turning radio with your 6hp yam ? I already contacted my dealer asking about what’s the best outboard for this skiff but their answer didn’t satisfy me! I know you can’t go wrong with Yamaha !!

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers my friend. Yes sir, the Striker Skiff and Hero 130 are the same vessel, just different name. I haven’t tested the 6hp Yamaha. Hopefully this weekend coming up. But I did used a Hidea 6hp about 6 times before. Basically a clone of the Yamaha and it did great. Turning is not an issue. It turns on a dime. That’s a good idea to make a video turning so people can see the agility of the skiff. Thanks for the comment and idea. For my style of fishing, I will recommend a motor with reverse. It will make your life so much easier. 5hp or 6ph is definitely my recommendation. The 2.5hp Yamaha did good for me! But 6 to 7mph was not fast enough for me. Tight lines and have fun

    Hi! Is there any way you can lead me on the right direction for the aluminum base plate for the seat please, I am getting my skiff in about 2 weeks and would love to have it by then! Do I need to call someone or how can I get my hands on it! Thanks in advance

    Are you still enjoying the skiff? Any update regarding a stand up bar?

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jon! I was “forced” to sell lol. We purchased a family boat and the little time off I can have! Will be spent with the boat. I went out of my budget when purchasing the boat, but promising the wife I was going to get the extra cash from selling the skiff. She reminded me the last 2 moths so I listed. I was hoping she would forget lol. I really miss my Striker too much. Is a different style of fishing and experience. I know I will get another one before the end of the year. I will definitely make it better the second time around. No stand up bar was needed in my opinion. Super stable. Thanks for watching.

    Any regrets on buying this ? Like anything to be aware of ? I’m in between buying 1 of these and a gheenoe

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only regret was selling my skiff. Sadly, I sold the Skiff few months back since I purchased a new boat and did not have time for both (also wife told me I had one to many toys lol). I am already working on getting another Striker Skiff soon because I really do miss it a lot. Is way to different than the boat. Two different styles of fishing for sure. The Striker would be my choice, since Nirvana Watersports really took care of my business.

    what are the dimensions of the steel plate?

    • @spanglishangler
      @spanglishangler  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I don't have the exact dimension with me. Is the same size of the top plastic lid. Sorry for not able to provide that info since I sold the skiff.

    How much does the plate go for?

      The Striker comes already with the plate. I was selling the plates for the Perception Outlaw.
